SUMMARY:North Jetty Brewing Beach Blanket Bingo
DESCRIPTION:The word “bingo” usually conjures up visions of nursing homes and church gymnasiums. But when “B” stands for “beer” and “N” is for “North Jetty Brewing Co.\,” and there’s surf music blasting from the jukebox\, it can only mean one thing: Beach Blanket Bingo with North Jetty Brewing Co. at Peaks and Pints. The Seaview\, Washington brewery rep Alexis Ferguson will shout out numbers while her craft beer pours during Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with the brewery at 6 p.m. Thursday\, June 29. Expect to enjoy Leadbetter Red\, Discovery Coast Stout\, Cape D IPA\, Lights Out Imperial IPA and Seaview Summer Ale. \nMichelle and Erik Svendsen\, wife and husband and brewers\, opened North Jetty Brewing at the Long Beach Peninsula more than three years ago. Gone are the 1.5 barrel system and limited distribution. Today\, the Svendsens brew on a 10-barrel system\, with beer distribution in 11 counties in Washington and Oregon. They bottle. They win awards. They shout out bingo numbers. And\, hopefully\, you walk away with prizes. \nNORTH JETTY BREWING BEACH BLANKET BINGO\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, June 29\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Skookum Brewery Lodge Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This is a real-life story of a brewery left for dead in the north Washington wilderness following an attack by noise-complaining\, rural residents. Clinging to the adage that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger\, the brewery found its inner strength. Five years after opening in 2007\, Skookum Brewery gave up its “Beer in the Woods” adage and moved from a rural road in Arlington to a location across the street from the Arlington Municipal Airport. Skookum could now extend its hours and whoop it up without town folk bearing pitchforks. Today\, everything Skookum does now\, it does big: big taproom\, big cribbage boards in said taproom and craft beers full of big flavor. The other big thing Skookum Brewery does is Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting. Skookum will grab the gavel and podium for a night of Lodge announcements paired with Java Uncle Buckwheat Brown Ale\, Amber’s Hot Friend Red Ale\, Catch The Breeze IPA\, Pile-Up IPA and Vapour Trail IIPA. \nSKOOKUM BREWERY LODGE MEETING\, 6-9 p.m.\, Thursday\, June 22\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Pelican Packing Party at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:When Ryan Rosen isn’t selling Dirty Bird IPA or Udder Tugger Milk Stout for Pelican Brewing Company based in Pacific City\, Oregon\, he spends the rest of his time trying to figure out the physical and mental limits of what he semi-jokingly calls extreme backpacking. He’s hiked all the big\, long trails — including completing the Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier in less than three days. He also knows how to pack the perfect backpack — whether it’s a day hike on the Thunder Creek Trail in the North Cascades or a 5-day excursion on foot along the Kettle Creek Trail in Eastern Washington. Rosen will combine both loves at the Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with Pelican Brewing Co. Thursday\, June 15. \nWhile you drink Pelican craft beers Five Fin Pilsner\, Dirty Bird IPA\, Udder Tugger Milk Stout and Father Of All Tsunamis Imperial Stout\, Rosen will demonstration how to pack a backpack for different hiking scenarios. Enjoy Father’s layers of spiciness\, vanilla and caramel coming from barrel aging and learn where to put Reynolds Oven Bags to keep your socks dry in wet weather. As Dirty Birds’ lengthy malt finish works your taste buds learn how to pack your boil-in-bag meals. \nNo\, Rosen didn’t grow up in the golden age of backpacking. The young buck requested there to be Beer Pong tables at his Pelican Packing Party at Peaks and Pints. And it will be so. \nPELICAN PACKING PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, June 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:SudsPop: Squeak and Squawk Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Can’t wait until the 2017 Squeak and Squawk Music Festival? The indie rock and pop festival lands in Tacoma beginning June 22\, but you can celebrate the music and help support the festival Monday\, June 12 when Peaks and Pints plays music curated by Squeak and Squawk co-producer Rev. Adam McKinney as part of its weekly SudsPop music and craft beer listening party night. Fifty cents from every craft beer pint sold will go toward funding this year’s SQSQ festival. \nSqueak and Squawk is a five-day indie music festival in Tacoma that persists in spite of itself. Founded in 2008\, by Sean Alexander and Peter Lynn\, the form of having 10 shows — split between all-ages and 21+ — and populating the shows with eccentric acts that wouldn’t normally hit Tacoma\, was an intoxicating one. After two successful Squeak and Squawks\, the fest was getting ready to be put to rest\, when Adam McKinney and Jena Stedtler picked it up in 2012. \nAfter two consecutive years of Squeak and Squawk\, in 2012 and 2013\, McKinney and Stedtler collapsed\, exhausted\, and didn’t come out of hibernation until 2017\, reviving the festival for an upcoming run: June 22-26. This year\, they’ve assembled a typically weird and wonderful bunch of acts\, many of whom are featured on tonight’s playlist. The SudsPop playlist will feature some of the songs as far back as the inaugural fest\, while others are selections from this year’s crop of bands. There are also some aspirational choices — bands that would’ve fit Squeak and Squawk like a glove\, but were so drastically pricey as to cause instant heart burn for the festival programmer. \nIn any event\, this playlist should give some indication of what you’ll experience at this year’s Squeak and Squawk — a diverting group of oddballs with a song in their heart. Find it in your heart to help fund the festival while drinking delicious craft beer. \nSUDSPOP: SQUEAK AND SQUAWK FUNDRAISER\, 7 p.m.\, Monday\, June 12\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp proctor\, Tacoma

SUMMARY:SudsPop: Jason Locking benefit
DESCRIPTION:Jason Kenneth Locking\, 1973 – 2017\nWith heavy hearts\, we at Peaks and Pints send our deepest condolences to Jason Locking’s “family.” Jason\, 44\, died peacefully in his sleep following a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer. The beloved Tacoma chef and musician played in several bands over the years\, including Gold Teeth\, Pioneers West\, NMVGPTS and\, most recently\, Old Foals. Shortly before his cancer diagnosis\, he was promoted to sous chef at Boka at Hotel 1000 in downtown Seattle. \nJason was true Tacoma. A friend of the city\, and hundreds of its denizens. He was one of the folks who helped make the city one of the coolest ’hoods in America. \nJason is survived by his mother Marilyn Locking\, the love of his life Jayme Fisher\, canine kids Stella and Duff\, his beloved bandmates\, and countless friends that he considered family. \nOn a personal note\,I had the distinct pleasure of documenting Jason’s musical career in the Weekly Volcano. I’ll always remember him from his Gold Teeth days when the guitarist joined fellow guitarist Dave Takata\, drummer Bob Lurvey\, bassist Sean Horst and singer\, and co-owner of The Red Hot\, Chris “Trashcan” Miller. That back rocked\, and drank a lot of beer. \nTacoma taprooms will host a week’s worth of benefits in support of the Locking family\, thanks to organizer Mike Bosold of Clicking Wholesale Distributing. SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Mountain Beer Fest
DESCRIPTION:Craft beer has always had an easy partnership with the outdoor adventure lifestyle (especially now that many of our favorite brews are in cans!). What better place to celebrate that pairing than the Proctor District\, Tacoma’s outdoor playground? The North Tacoma business district sits at a mighty 356 feet above sea level offering outdoor enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to work on agility by dodging speeding BMWs and reckless Mason Middle Schoolers\, mountain bike down the rocky\, pothole laden North 27th Street\, hang glide off towering Proctor Station and\, of course\, the annual cycling criterium through the streets of Proctor. \nPeaks and Pints had these and hundreds of other Proctor District outdoor opportunities in mind when we built our craft beer bottle shop\, taproom and sandwich lodge at the neighborhood’s highest elevation. As a thank you to the Proctor extreme athletes who patron Peaks and Pints we will host an all-day Mountain Beer Fest Saturday\, June 3. Craft beers and ciders from Mountain community breweries and cideries as well as mountain moniker brews will flow from our Western red cedar tap log and into keepsake Peaks and Pints Mountain Beer Fest glassware. Alaskan Brewing\, Alpine Beer\, Backwoods Brewing\, Deschutes Brewery\, Dru Bru\, Double Mountain Brewery\, Everybody’s Brewing\, Grand Teton Brewing\, Great Divide Brewing\, Tahoe Mountain Brewing and Two Beers Brewing are just a few that will trek up to Proctor for the day. \nAt 8 p.m.\, Tacoma bluegrass band Barleywine Revue will perform live inside our lodge performing their hits over the years\, including “Peaks and Pints\,” the song the band wrote specifically for us. \nPEAKS AND PINTS MOUNTAIN BEER FEST\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday\, June 3\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nLINK: Meet Backwoods Brewing Co. and its Gifford Pinchot Pilsner pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Holy Mountain and its The White Lodge wit pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Uinta Brewing Co. and its Cucumber Saison pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Dru Bru and its IPA pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Grand Teton Brewing and its American Sour pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with Scuttlebutt Brewing
DESCRIPTION:If you’ve been waiting since the day you were born to drink Scuttlebutt Brewing Company craft beer\, this is your year: Everett’s renowned brewery turns 21 in July. If you’re already 21 you can enjoy Scuttlebutt craft beers a month earlier the June 1 Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting when Scuttlebutt dons the ceremonial robe and Grand Poobah hat as we pour the brewery’s beers from our Western red cedar tap log. \nFor those not into math\, Phil Bannan Sr. and his family founded Scuttlebutt Brewing in 1996. Family\, indeed. The family business\, which today employs about 75 people\, started with a homebrewing kit Bannan’s wife\, Cynthia\, bought him on Father’s Day in 1990. Cynthia eventually kicked him out of the kitchen and into a facility at the Port of Everett. They decided to name their brewery “Scuttlebutt” after Cynthia’s nickname bestowed upon by her father after her impending birth became the scuttlebutt of Naval Station Norfolk where he worked. Phil Bannan Jr. is the brewery’s general manager\, and he and his wife\, Mindy\, designed the taproom the recently opened taproom inside the production brewery in downtown Everett. For the last 16 years Matt Stromberg runs the brewing operations. Former Engine House No. 9 head brewer Doug Tiede sells the craft. \nIn addition to sweet giveaways\, the June 1 Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with Scuttlebutt Brewing will feature the brewery’s KEXP Transistor IPA\, Homeport Blonde\, Amber Ale and 20th Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout. \nLODGE MEETING WITH SCUTTLEBUTT BREWING\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday June 1\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Redhook Reads Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:A good rauchbier has a strong smokiness\, but you never forget you’re drinking a beer. A little smoke can go a long way. It’s an even tougher task for a brewer to make a smoked beer that’s based on a light-bodied golden ale or lager. Redhook Brewery’s small batch brewer Nick Crandell is well known for his venturesome\, sometimes whimsical\, beer recipes. He’s a brewer who’s not afraid to produce what even craft brewers consider offbeat\, like a collaboration Rauch Helles with Chuckanut Brewery\, which makes sense since both breweries have been in operation since the 1980s. The Rauch Helles captures the smoky flavors of a Rauch lager\, combined with the gentle and easy-to-drink Helles lager. Rauch Hells will from flow from our Western red cedar tap log as part of our Lodge Meeting with Redhook Brewery. Other Redhook brews on tap at peaks and Pints include Big Ballard Imperial IPA\, Bi-Coastal IPA and Salmon Safe Copperhook. One hundred percent of the sales of said Rauch Helles will be donated to the Tacoma Public Library. Friends of Tacoma Public Library advocacy group will be in the house chatting up books. \nREDHOOK READS TACOMA\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 25\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Squeak and Squawk SudsPop
DESCRIPTION:We interrupt our regular SudsPop music and craft beer Monday nights to bring you a Squeak and Squawk listing party at 7 p.m. tonight. There are also some aspirational choices — bands that would’ve fit Squeak and Squawk like a glove\, but were so drastically pricy as to cause instant heart burn for the festival programmer. \nIn any event\, this playlist should give some indication of what you’ll experience at this year’s Squeak and Squawk — a diverting group of oddballs with a song in their heart. Peaks and Pints will tap No-Li Brewhouse’s Slacker\, a craft beer brewed with orange peel and vanilla beans\, to accompany the Squeak and Squawk SudsPop tonight.

SUMMARY:SudsPop: No-Li Brewhouse Game Show Night
DESCRIPTION:Suppose some smartypants decided to conduct a study aimed at determining the hierarchy of the days of the week\, best to worst. Does anyone have to wonder where Monday would fall on that list? Easily the most reviled day of the week\, Monday is defined as “fun’s over\, back to work.” Fortunately\, Northend Tacoma’s bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant\, Peaks and Pints\, is doing its part to give Monday a makeover with some Friday-style flair. Every month Peaks and Pints invites a craft brewery to create a three-hour soundtrack off our Jukebox\, pour its craft beer and award prizes during zany games. We call the Monday nights SudsPop. Mike Lay of No-Li Brewhouse will pair his Spokane brewery’s barrel-aged craft beer with Price Is Right/Let’s Make A Deal like games with sweet prizes. SudsPop equals no excuses. \nSUDSPOP: NO-LI BREWHOUSE GAME SHOW NIGHT\, 6 p.m.\, Monday\, May 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Rogue Ales IPA Party
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints will hold a Lodge Meeting with Rogue Ales on the agenda — specifically the southern Oregon’s Hop Family series of IPAs\, celebrating all 8 varietals of hops grown at Rogue Farms. It’s a family of five distinct IPAs\, each a unique blend of hops personally selected by Rogue Brewmaster John Maier. The Hop Family is comprised of 4 Hop IPA\, 5 Hop IPA\, 6 Hop IPA\, 7 Hop IPA and 8 Hop IPA. Rogue grows its own hops on a 42-acre hopyard on the banks of the Willamette River in Independence\, Oregon. The eight varieties include Alluvial\, Freedom\, Independent\, Liberty\, Newport\, Rebel\, Revolution and Yaquina hops. Each year\, Rogue Farms strings\, stakes\, trains\, trims\, separates\, sorts\, kilns\, cools and bales the hops it grows before sending them to the Rogue Brewery in Newport\, Oregon. The entire Hop Family will be pour from Peaks and Pints’ Western red cedar tap log during the May 11 Lodge Meeting. Expect door prizes\, too. \nPeaks and Pints Rogue Ales IPA Party\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 11\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:SudsPop: Name That Tune with No-Li Brewhouse
DESCRIPTION:More annoying\, even\, than having a stone stuck in your shoe or sitting Interstate 5 traffic at the Fife curve is having a song going around and around in your head. (I GET KNOCKED DOWN\, BUT I GET UP AGAIN / YOU ARE NEVER GONNA KEEP ME DOWN! You’re welcome.) We mean\, are we right or are we right? \nMost annoying\, however\, is having a song stuck in your head and not being able to remember what it is. “You know — it’s that song!” you say frustratedly to coworkers. “It goes like this: La la la\, ooh\, la la\, yeah. … Come on\, you know the one! You must know it! We think it was on the Dawson’s Creek soundtrack once. It has a really long chorus! What’s it called?” \nYour friend\, meanwhile\, looks at you all “Dude? You’re on your own. Dawson’s Creek? Please.” \nEnter No-Li Brewhouse sales executive Mike Lay. The man has 1990’s songs stuck in his head and he wants to share the\, er\, wealth Monday night. \nEvery month Peaks and Pints invites a craft brewery to create a three-hour soundtrack off our Jukebox\, pour its craft beer and award prizes during zany games. We call the Monday nights SudsPop. Mike Lay will pair his Spokane brewery’s Slacker and Crony with a Name That Tune 1990s game for chance to win sweet prizes. \nTo us\, at least\, this brings to mind the old joke that goes “Who sings that song you’re humming? Alice In Chains? Well\, great\, let’s keep it that way.” \nSo drop by Peaks and Pints Monday night\, have a pint of orangey vanilla Slacker and Crony brown ale and guess songs from the 1990s after hearing the first several notes. And don’t let that obscure Marcy Playground tune get the better of you. Just please don’t hum it anywhere near us after you win your prize. You know we’ll have it stuck in our head all night. \nSUDSPOP: NAME THAT TUNE WITH NO-LI BREWHOUSE\, 6 p.m.\, Monday\, May 8\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Seattle Beer Week Craft Beer 21 Run
DESCRIPTION:How did you celebrate your 21st birthday? Some people enjoy the casual beer at Peaks and Pints\, some like to go to a shot bar and get Lohan-drunk. Some like to spread beer out throughout the day\, some like to cram it all in at midnight. Some people don’t drink at all. You can do anything you want other than rent a car\, book a cruise\, run for POTUS\, or commit a crime. \nIn celebration of the opening day of Seattle Beer Week\, Peaks and Pints will host a 21st Birthday Party for our favorite folks turning 21 in 2017 — craft breweries. Thursday\, May 4\, we’ll host a 21st birthday party for Stone Brewing Company\, Firestone Walker Brewing Company\, Ballast Point Brewing Company\, Silver City Brewery\, Pelican Brewing Company\, Victory Brewing Company\, Schmaltz Brewing Company\, Bear Republic Brewing and Scuttlebutt Brewing Company. In addition to pouring these breweries’ beer from our Western red cedar tap log\, we’ll host 21 Run-ish activities such as beer pong and shot glasses. \nLive it up. Have fun. SUMMARY:Tacoma r & R Pils Party
DESCRIPTION:Chemistry is difficult to define but simple to spot. It’s that little spark that exists between two entities\, and without it\, an otherwise stellar situation can turn into a flop. For instance\, you can have cheese (and it will be glorious) and you can separately have ham (and it will be succulent)\, but put them together and boom: ham and cheese and delicious. There are other famous duos: Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy\, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello\, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis\, Reuben’s Brews and Rainier Beer. \nWhat? \nIt’s true. \nTake a multiple award-winning\, family owned and operated craft brewery in Ballard\, Reuben’s Brews\, and pair it with Seattle’s oldest lager (but Pabst owned) with the neon R\, Rainier Beer\, and you have an exciting collaboration of two Seattle brewing institutions — r & R Pils. New school meets old school\, little r meets capital R\, in this collaboration\, the first in Rainier’s long history. \nJoin Peaks and Pints as we celebrate the hop-forward r & R Pils at 6 p.m.\, Wednesday\, May 3 inside Peaks and Pints lodge in Tacoma’s Proctor District. We’ll have the r & R Pils pouring from our Western red cedar tap log\, as well as Rainier Beer and Reuben’s Pilsner\, Rainier swag plus raffling off a limited edition Rainier fire pit! \nr & R Pils Party\, 6 p.m.\, Wednesday\, May 3\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Superfuzz Funkified Party
DESCRIPTION:Get wiggy: Slip on your Farrah Fawcett wings\, your Cleopatra Jones afro or your grandpa’s toupee and wobble over to Peaks and Pints Thursday\, April 27 for Elysian Brewing’s Superfuzz Funkified Party. \nShe’s mighty-mighty\, just lettin’ it all hang out. \nJoin Elysian Brewing for the South Sound seasonal release and tasting of its Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale\, a mind-bending whirl of the aromas and flavors of blood orange and Northwest hops. Guests are encouraged to dress in funky ’70s attire while Peaks and Pints funk jams spank the beat. A costume contest will be a part of the party\, dig? \nIn 1996\, the SuperSonics reached the NBA Finals\, Nirvana released From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah\, and Elysian Brewing Company poured its first beer in Seattle’s Capitol Hill. A lot has changed since\, but the beer is still flowing from Elysian\, 21 years later. Four years ago this month\, Elysian took an easygoing blend of Northwest Pale\, Munich and Dextri-pils malts\, Citra and Amarillo hop cones and a dusting of blood orange peel\, called it Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale and all was groovy. \nIn addition to Superfuzz\, other Elysian beers will include Downtown Boozy Brown\, Shawty Porter and a couple one-offs. \nThis Orangesploitation will go down at 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 27\, in Peaks and Pints in Tacoma’s Proctor District. SUMMARY:Lodge Meeting with Everybody's Brewing
DESCRIPTION:The Columbia Gorge is a craft beer drinking region\, with a major adrenaline problem. Outdoors activities are endless: whitewater rafting\, kayaking\, mountain biking\, skiing\, snowboarding\, paddle boarding\, kite boarding\, wind surfing and hiking. Craft beer drinking opportunities are also endless\, including Everybody’s Brewing in the heart of the quiet town of White Salmon. Christine and Doug Ellenberger opened Everybody’s Brewing in 2008 after years of planning the craft brewery when they weren’t working their shifts at Full Sail Brewing Company directly across the Columbia River. Doug’s 20-plus years brewing and Christine’s years in the restaurant industry melded into a popular brewpub with a killer view of Mt. Hood. In the 15-barrel brewhouse Doug and crew churn out delicious craft beer including Local Logger Lager\, Hoedown Brown Ale\, Plymouth Hop IPA and Cryo-Chronic IPA — four craft beer that will be on tap when Doug Ellenberger walks through Peaks and Pints’ door at 6 p.m. Wednesday\, April 26. \nWe’re throwing together a quick Lodge Meeting with Everybody’s Brewing to celebrate the Gorge brewery’s two new India Pale Ales. Brewed with Cryo hops\, Cryo-Chronic (6.9% ABV\, 80 IBU) is an experimental IPA using cryogenic technology\, which means very low temperatures. Plymouth Hop New England Style IPA (6.8% ABV\, 60 IBU) has the honor of being packed with more hops than any other Everybody’s Brewing beers\, including Hoppy AF\, the Imperial IPA that made it to the second round in the Tournament of Beer. Plymouth Hop lands with a light colored grain bill\, a new yeast strain\, and a unique blend of Azacca\, Galaxy\, Mosaic and Ekuanot hops for a hazy\, juicy IPA. \nThe other two Everybody’s beers you no doubt know. Local Logger Lager grabbed a bronze medal at the 2016 Washington Beer Awards with its Saaz hops and finely tuned malt bill. Hoedown Brown Ale offers light cocoa\, caramel and nutty notes. \nDrop by Peaks and Pints and meet the talent behind Everybody’s Brewing and its tasty craft beers. \nLODGE MEETING WITH EVERYBODY’S BREWING\, 6 p.m.\, Wednesday\, April 26\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:SudsPop: British Pub Night
DESCRIPTION:There’ll always be an England\n
While there’s a country lane\,
\n Wherever there’s a cottage small\n
Beside a field of grain. \nAnd down the lane from that cottage beside the field of grain there will always be a pub serving imperial pints (20 ounces) of beer. \nThe local pub is more than a watering hole; it is the center of community life. Peaks and Pints knows this to be true. A good pub at its heart is an open living room for a village\, or a Proctor District. It is not just a place to have a beer\, but it is the place to gather for card games with neighbors\, discuss books or to celebrate with the local cricket team. \nEvery month Peaks and Pints invites a craft brewery to create a three-hour soundtrack off our Jukebox\, pour its craft beer and host a specific theme. We call the Monday nights SudsPop. Firestone Walker is our guest brewery this month. At 6 p.m.\, April 24\, Firestone Walker will celebrate British pub life with 20-ounce pours of its DBA and Union Jack India Pale Ale and three hours of British pub tunes. \nDBA — a.k.a. Double Barrel Ale —is the trailblazing flagship beer that started it all for the California brewery back in 1996. Partially fermented in its patented Firestone Union oak barrel brewing system\, DBA stands as an iconic tribute to traditional cask-fermented English ales. Pale malts create a smooth middle with ribbons of caramel\, English toffee and toasted oak. \nThe name Union Jack is a nod to the colonial origins of the India Pale Ale style\, and to the British expatriate who co-founded Firestone Walker\, David Walker. Union Jack IPA\, originator of our “Jack” IPA family\, is double dry‐hopped to create bold grapefruit\, tangerine and citrus flavors\, all contrasted by pale malt sweetness to rein in the intensity. Union Jack is the epitome of hop flavor; hop aroma\, balanced malt\, and pleasant alcohol working together to produce a symphony of flavor. Union Jack has won every major award conceivable. \nSo head down the country road to Peaks and Pints for a pinto or two Monday\, April 24. \nSUDSPOP: BRITISH PUB NIGHT\, 6 p.m.\, Monday\, April 24\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Dogfish Head Pre Record Store Day Party
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints digs music\, as evident with our weekly Monday SudsPop music and craft beer nights\, in which a single craft brewery takes over our jukebox\, pours its beers and hosts wacky games. \nThursday\, April 20\, we’ll host a special SudsPop night inviting Dogfish Head Crafted Ales to our little lodge for a pre Record Store Day celebration. \nEvery year\, the Baltimore brewery creates the official beer of Record Store Day; this year a tropical blonde ale called Beer To Drink Music To ’17. The ale features hibiscus flowers and kiwi juice\, with strong citrus fruit aromas\, hints of grapefruit and floral notes and a crisp\, dry finish. We’ll be pouring the Beer To Drink Music To ’17 — as well as 120 Minute IPA\, Olde School Barleywine\, Palo Santo Marron and World Wide Stout — from our Western red cedar tap log beginning at 6 p.m. \nEvery Dogfish Head beer ordered comes with a raffle ticket with a change to win an awesome Crosley/Dogfish Head turntable\, which is on display at Peaks and Pints. \nIn addition\, bring in receipts from vinyl purchases April 1-20 for an extra chance to win the turntable. In addition\, there will be plenty of Dogfish Head door prizes\, including free Record Store Day posters while supplies last. \nDOGFISH HEAD PRE RECORD STORE DAY PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 20\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:REI Hoppy Hour Adventures: The Wonderland Trail
DESCRIPTION:You won’t find a basketball at REI Tacoma. Or a baseball glove. Or a tennis racket. So why is REI so kick ass? Because you’ll see things here that you won’t at other sports stores: possibilities. REI is devoted exclusively to outdoor adventure sports — camping\, backpacking\, rock climbing\, skiing\, kayaking — and there is something about walking into the Tacoma store\, some ineffable tug at your soul and adrenal glands\, that gets your heart racing and your imagination juiced. Maybe it’s the topographic maps\, or the walls full of hiking gear that make you instantly conjure all the places you’ve wanted to explore — such as The Wonderland Trail. \nAs part of its Hoppy Hour Adventure series\, REI will host a Wonderland Trail class at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday\, April 19 at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Sip on a Two Beers Brewing Wonderland Trail IPA\, Deschutes Pacific Wonderland Lager or any of the more than 600 different kinds of craft beer and cider while learning about the 93-mile trail around Mount Rainier. According to REI\, 200 to 250 people take a quarter million steps around the mountain annually\, while thousands more hike or backpack parts of it. Learn what you need to know to decide to go\, get a permit and prepare for your trip around part or all of the mountain when an REI expert hosts a Wonderland Trail class at Peaks and Pints April 19. \nREI HOPPY HOUR ADVENTURES: THE WONDERLAND TRAIL\, 6:30-8 p.m.\, Wednesday\, April 19\, 21 and older\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints SudsPop Jenga
DESCRIPTION:One of the most beautiful things about being human is our ability to communicate with language and build beautiful\, inspiring things. But what’s the fun of creation without its far more satisfying opposite\, destruction? Truly\, the makers of childhood favorite Jenga knew this — build it up and watch it topple\, over and over again. But the kiddie Jenga-smiths weren’t allowed to supersize the blocks and give you craft beer and cider to consume during play. \nPeaks and Pints will supersize the blocks Monday\, April 17. We’ll have a giant set by the cooler with miniature Jengas on the tables. \nEvery month Peaks and Pints invites a craft brewery to create a three-hour soundtrack off our Jukebox\, pour its craft beer and award prizes during zany games. We call the Monday nights SudsPop. Firestone Walker is our guest brewery this month. At 6 p.m.\, April 17\, Firestone Walker’s Bravo Imperial Brown Ale aged in bourbon barrels will pour from our Western red cedar tap log\, as well as other Firestone Walker delights. \nSUDSPOP JENGA\, 6 p.m.\, Monday\, April 17\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with Browar Polska
DESCRIPTION:Beer trends come and go. Once-popular but comically over-hopped IPAs\, for example\, are now giving way to mellow\, spicy-sour farmhouse ales. But the allure of European beer is timeless — at least according to Browar Polska Inc. in South Seattle\, a distributor of fine quality beer from Poland\, Ukraine\, Czech Republic\, Belgium and other European countries. After all\, European beers are the ones that got this started hundreds of years ago. Browar Polska will be the honored guest at Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting April 6\, pouring Petrus Aged Pale sour from Belgium\, Triporteur Full Moon 12 Belgian Quad\, Denmark’s gypsy brewer Evil Twin’s Lil’ B Porter and Falco IPA and Selkirk Huckleberry Chapel rocking the witbier from Post Falls\, Idaho. \nPEAKS AND PINTS LODGE MEETING WITH BROWAR POLSKA\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 6\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover
