SUMMARY:10 Barrel\, Five Beers\, One Snowboard
DESCRIPTION:When twin brothers Chris and Jeremy Cox launched 10 Barrel Brewing Co.\, it was literally just the two of them and partner Garret Wales. They grew organically\, never dreaming of having 400-plus employees and having multiple locations and being in four states and growing when they moved from Portland to Bend to escape their corporate jobs and take a shot at buying and running a bar — Lucy’s Place\, which they renamed JC’s Bar & Grill. Their love for craft beer resulted in their small startup called Wildfire Brewing in 2006. The three dudes focused on selling their beers to local bars and restaurants. The first two beers in the lineup were Code 24 Pale Ale and Logger Lager\, followed by Backdraft IPA. In 2009\, Wildfire restaurants\, a chain of eateries with locations in Illinois\, Minnesota\, Virginia and Georgia\, forced the trio to change their brewery name — which they changed to 10 Barrel Brewing Company after their brewing system. \nA lot has happened since 2006 and Tuesday\, Feb. 6\, when 10 Barrel taps five beers at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. A lot. Drop by Peaks and hear all about the brewery’s history from 10 Barrel rep Conor while drinking the brewery’s special beers Barrel Aged Pray For Snow Winter Ale\, Blood Runs Cold Blood Orange IPA\, Krispy Cream Ale\, Dark Queen Dunkelweizen and Double Chocolate Stout on nitro. Bonus: A 10 Barrel snowboard will be raffled off! \n10 BARREL\, FIVE BEERS\, ONE SNOWBOARD\, 5 p.m.\, Tuesday\, Feb. 5\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow Tacoma\nA brewer of imperial IPAs\, Adam Robbings of Reuben’s Brews in Seattle shined a spotlight on triple IPAs in 2014 launching the Washington Hop Mob Mop Triple IPA Roadshow\, a series of triple IPA tasting events in Western Washington. The two-week event was a smash(ed) success. In 2015\, Kim and Kendall Jones\, the dynamic duo of the Washington Beer Blog\, Beer Church and 12 other beer-related hugs\, grabbed the hop by the brave new world and led Hop Mob down the road. The triple IPA celebration returns Feb. 1 with a 3 p.m. kickoff at Brouwer’s Café in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Thirty-two Washington state triples will be in the Café. Smaller triple IPA showcases — the Kendalls call them Roadshow events — will follow for nine days straight across Western Washington\, from Vancouver to Snohomish and over to Yakima. Peaks and Pints will host Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow Tacoma from 11 a.m. to 11p.m. Friday\, Feb. 3. \nBelieve it not\, Triple IPAs are style such a new style that most national competitions (including the Great American Beer Festival) have yet to recognize it as its own distinct category\, forcing most of the high-alcohol\, hopped-to-hell beers to compete under “Imperial/Double IPA” headers. But the actual line between a double and a triple IPA is amorphous at best. \nSome say that any IPA over 10 percent alcohol by volume should be considered a triple. Still\, beers that might fit the ABV and hop-burn requirements are still labeled as a double IPA\, leaving the term “triple IPA\,” at this point\, more of a marketing preference than an official style. \nWhat can be said is triple IPAs have outrageous amounts of dry hops\, hop flavor\, malt flavor\, alcohol and bitterness. The Triple IPA may be similar to a Double IPA in hop character\, but is differentiated from the style by a thick\, syrupy body accented by intense hop resins that make it a heavy sipping beer. Confused? \nWhat they are\, really\, is a chance to explore hop extremes and laugh at titles. Humonkulous. Insanity. Boom Boom Boom. Knock Three Times. And this is why Washington Hop Mob is still so vital\, so important. \nPeaks and Pints will tap eight triple IPAs during our Roadshow event: 7 Seas Brewing\, Backwoods Brewing\, Bale Breaker Brewing\, Georgetown Brewing\, Matchless Brewing/Triceratops Brewing collaboration\, Reuben’s Brews\, Sumerian Brewing and Wet Coast Brewing. \nWashington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow is a thrilling\, hilarious\, kaleidoscope of wayward\, brewing energy and excess; nothing you can ever do can prepare you for the onslaught. As it should be. As is the whole point\, really. \nFor more information on the Washington Hop Mob\, and to scan the other participating Roadshow venues\, visit wahopmob.com. \nWASHINGTON HOP MOB TRIPLE IPA ROADSHOW TACOMA\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday\, Feb. 2\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Ballast Point Takes The Cake Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits brewed a nitro “golden” oatmeal stout. That’s clear? But it’s made with beets. So it’s red? OK. Duh. It obviously resembles a slice of red velvet cake with the foamy head of the nitro pour as the “icing\,” adding a creamy smoothness to the mouthfeel. \nRed Velvet Nitro Oatmeal Stout is definitely dessert in a glass dominated by chocolate with earthy notes of beets\, subtle wafts of roast cocoa and vanilla. And it’s definitely the focus of Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting with Ballast Point at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb. 1. \nIn addition to the unique golden oatmeal stout flavored with chocolate and colored with beet juice Peaks and Pints will pour other Ballast Point dessert beers Peanut Butter Victory at Sea\, Coconut Victory at Sea\, Mocha Marlin and Orange Vanilla Fathom. \nLet Ballast Point cake you away Feb. 1. \nBALLAST POINT TAKES THE CAKE TACOMA\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb.1\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Oh Canada! Unibroue at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:Oh Canada! Unibroue at Peaks and Pints\nUnibroue has long set the standard for Belgian-style ales in Canada. Yeast is a large part of the story\, providing secondary in-bottle fermentation and contributing typical fruity and spicy flavors. \nPeaks and Pints will get our Unibroue on at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 25\, inviting the Quebec brewery to pour five beers at our weekly Lodge Meeting\, as well as raffle off all the schwag. Peaks and Pints’ kitchen manager Lindsay Giantvalley will prepare a special dish to pair with a Unibroue beer. \nUnibroue founders André Dion and Serge Racine took beer-brewing techniques used by Trappist monks of Belgium and brought them to North America. After acquiring La Brasserie Massawippi brewery in Lennoxville\, Quebec in 1990\, the Quebec team brewed their first abbey ale. A few years later\, they were shipping their beer internationally. Even after Sleeman purchased Unibroue in 2004\, and subsequently by Sapporo in 2006\, it has maintained the culture and flavor of a craft brewery. \nPEAKS AND PINTS LODGE MEETING WITH UNIBROUE\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 25\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nBelow is the Unibroue tap line-up. … \nUnibroue Blanche de Chambly\n5% ABV\, 10 IBU \nAn ode to a city in the southwestern region of Quebec\, Blanche de Chambly is not a traditional white beer. Pouring a light golden haze with a fine carbonation\, the nose gives a distinct sweet and sour aroma\, settled by a hint of coriander. The sweetness carries through to the taste with an additional yeast character\, a signature of Unibroue\, known for brewing beers on lees\, which means it’s rested on the residual yeast deposits\, fats and proteins that settle to the bottom of an aging vessel after secondary fermentation. \nUnibroue 25e Blonde de L’Enfer\n10.5% ABV\, 14 IBU \nLast year\, Unibroue celebrated its 25th anniversary\, offering its US fan base its own take on a classic style\, the Belgian strong golden ale. It’s a complex\, smooth ale with malty and citrusy flavors\, topped with a pale straw head. The subtle balance of spice\, malt and hop flavors\, combined with a fine\, champagne-like effervescence\, makes it an awesome beer for celebrations\, such as our Lodge Meeting with Unibroue. \nUnibroue Fin du Monde\n9% ABV\, 19 IBU \nThe name translates as “The End of The World.” If this beer is any indication of the end of the world\, bring on the apocalypse! This beer actually reminds us of the beach with the golden orange color providing the sunset\, the pineapple and nut aromas giving it a tropical nose\, and the strong alcoholic taste\, followed by sweetness\, completes the sense of drinking on the beach\, minus the cocktail and the mini-umbrella. Even with its tropical vibes\, La Fin du Monde upholds its light Belgian character. \nUnibroue A Tout Le Monde\n4.5% ABV\, 22 IBU \nPeaks and Pints’ kitchen manager Lindsay Giantvalley arrives to Peaks and Pints first daily. She cranks the kitchen radio and preps for the day\, listening to a wide range of music\, including the occasional metal. Currently\, her favorite beer gives nod to one of metal’s best\, Dave Mustaine. The frontman for Megadeth hangs with Unibroue Brewmaster Jerry Vietz. The two friends brewed À Tout Le Monde\, a refreshing and artisanal Belgian style dry hopped saison named after a hit single from the Youthanasia album\, the song was a departure from the traditional sound of thundering double kick drums\, amps on 11 and Mustaine’s angry “through-the-teeth” vocals. \nUnibroue Lune de Miel Honey Belgian Strong Ale\n8% ABV\, 22 IBU \nLune de Miel\, first brewed in 2016\, is an high ABV Belgian-style amber ale that is chock full of floral notes\, spices and a smooth honey character. The beer’s aroma and taste\, however leads in with a solid yeasty trait and gentle funk before those flowery and herbal notes join in — amplifying more as the beer warms in the glass. The honey lingers long into the lightly warming and drying finish of the medium bodied ale.

SUMMARY:New Belgium Juicy Haze IPA Release Party
DESCRIPTION:New Belgium Brewing kicked off the new year with a new addition to the Voodoo Ranger family\, Juicy Haze IPA. This medium bodied\, unfiltered IPA is magic with tropical aromas and big citrus flavors from a delicious blend of Citra hops combined with Cascade\, Centennial\, Simcoe and Nugget. Peaks and Pints hosts the New Belgium Juicy Haze IPA Release Party\, as well as other craft delights from the Fort Collins\, Colorado brewery at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 18. \nKnown as New England IPA\, Northeast IPA or simply NEIPA (pronounced “neepa”)\, Juicy Haze IPA pulls out the softer\, juicier flavors hops release when added later in the brewing process. This is in contrast to West Coast IPA\, which gets its aggressively bitter\, piney taste from earlier hopping. \nPoured in a glass\, Juicy Haze IPA looks like sunshine through fog. Vibrant lemon\, orange\, guava and pineapple notes are balanced with a light grassy and caramel-like malt aroma giving the beer a sweet start that transitions into citrus zest\, herbal and pine with a smooth\, bitter flavor. \nThis is the fourth year-round member of the Voodoo Ranger family\, which New Belgium launched last year. The Voodoo Ranger family of beers also features Voodoo Ranger IPA\, which will also be on tap Thursday night at Peaks and Pints. Also expect to enjoy other New Belgium beauties including Felix Wild Ale\, 8 Hop Pale Ale and all the schwag. \nNEW BELGIUM HAZY LODGE MEETING\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan.18\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints: A Barleywine Carol
DESCRIPTION:We all grew up with Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Whether we read the book\, watched the movies\, or caught a theatrical production of the age-old story\, a holiday season didn’t get by us without Ebeneezer Scrooge making an appearance. And whatever your preferred method of dosing on Dickens was\, it would be an injustice\, and probably land you on that weird jolly guy’s naughty list\, if you skipped A Barleywine Carol at Peaks and Pints in Tacoma’s Proctor District. OK\, the title is Peaks and Pints: A Barleywine Carol\, which is acceptable since it sure as hell isn’t Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. This musical version retains none of the literary classic than might reasonably be expected\, although it’s also accurate to state that a key ingredient of the novel — namely\, its humanist spirit — is largely present\, from the jolly crowd\, to the flights of Barleywine\, to the live bluegrass by Tacoma’s Barleywine Revue. \nPEAKS AND PINTS: A BARLEYWINE CAROL\, 7 p.m.\, Thursday\, Dec. 21\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

The craft beer is so elegant\, that its aromas of dried dates and brown sugar and notes of toffee\, ripe plum and spice may make you feel more dignified with each sip. \nNot only will the Cognac Barrel Aged Belgian Style Dark flow from our Western red cedar tap log so will pFriem’s Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout\, Frambozen\, Belgian Christmas Ale\, Juicy Winter and a few year-round delights. \nBe sure to “holidize” your smoking jacket that night as Peaks and Pints will be decked out for the holidays\, with pFriem gifts under the tree. \nWE’RE PFRIEMING OF A CRAFT CHRISTMAS\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Dec. 14\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, peaksandpints.com\, no cover

SUMMARY:Bellingham Tap Takeover Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Watching Bellingham\, Washington’s beer scene progress during the last few years has been amazing. To go from one brewery to at least a dozen and counting in the last few years is nothing short of impressive. And now\, seeing brewers testing the boundaries of traditional palates\, breweries engaging the community in all sorts of events and activities\, farm to pint initiatives and bringing culinary pairings into the mix — these are all ways in which the Whatcom County breweries and craft brew scene continues to kick butt. \nPeaks and Pints hosts seven Bellingham breweries at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Nov. 16 in what the cool kids call a “tap takeover.” From the original\, 1995 Boundary Bay Brewing to the newbie — at least to Bellingham — Melvin Brewing\, three craft beers from each brewery will pour from our Western red cedar tap log. There’s talk of a tabletop hockey tournament and swag o’plenty. Stay tuned for a taplist from Aslan Brewing\, Boundary Bay Brewing\, Chuckanut Brewery\, Kulshan Brewing\, Melvin Brewing\, Stones Throw Brewery and Wander Brewing. \nBELLINGHAM TAP TAKEOVER TACOMA\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Nov. 16\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Lagunitas Brewing: The Gang's All Here
DESCRIPTION:We all love Scooby Doo for its thinly veiled weed references and campy\, nonsensical villains. There’s something to be said for a world in which the monster is always just a maniacal old dude in a mask. Seriously\, the smoke from the Mystery Machine as it pulls away? That’s not coming from the tailpipe\, friend. \nStoners get a bad rap. They are often thought of as closed-eyed\, open-mouthed\, pizza roll eating\, Scooby Doo watching couch potatoes. \nNot stoner Tony Magee. \nSure Magee admits he wakes and bakes\, but then the founder and CEO of Lagunitas Brewing Company oversees an operation putting out 640\,000 barrels of beer a year\, a staff that half are also baked and one delicious craft beer after another. \nWe’re not sure if Magee enjoys Scooby Doo\, but Peaks and Pints does. We’re combing the two hosting a Lagunitas Brewing Lodge Meeting with Scooby Doo on the big screen Wednesday\, Nov. 15. \nThe gang will all be here: Eroica Flemish Farmhouse Ale\, Fred Jones\, Brown Shugga\, Daphne Blake\, Aunt Sally Dry-Hopped Sweet Tart Sour Mash Ale\, Velma Dinkley\, Nightime Black IPA\, Shaggy Rogers\, Laguntas IPA\, Scooby-Doo\, Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Hoppy Pale Wheat Ale and Scrappy-Doo. \nScooby Dooby Doo\, where are you? At Peaks and Pints\, Nov. 15\, that’s where. \nLAGUNITAS BREWING THE GANG’S ALL HERE\, 6 p.m.\, Wednesday\, Nov. 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints: The First Anniversary Shindig
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints will celebrate its first year in business Wednesday\, Nov. 1\, with a couple big prefunk parties leading into the celebration with a special anniversary beer release and music by bluegrass band The Rusty Cleavers. \nIn addition to The Rusty Cleavers at 8 p.m.\, a special beer flight and hijinks\, the Nov. 1 one-year anniversary party will also see the release of Skyline Trail Wildflower Sour\, a Peaks and Pints collaboration craft beer with Harmon Brewing Co. In August 2016\, Harmon Head Brewer Jeff Carlson\, Production Manager Bill Lundeen and Director of Brewery Operations Jesse Holder as well as Peaks and Pints staff collected yeast from wildflowers blooming along the Skyline Trail at approximately 5\,400 feet on the south slope of Mount Rainier. The yeast was added to a sour blonde base\, inoculated with Saccharomyces and aged for a year. Last month it was blended with a blonde base that was aged two years in a foeder. It’s a funky\, tart\, pale amber-colored ale that’s light in body and exhibits aromas of stone fruit\, oak and spice. \nPeaks and Pints will offer two prefunk anniversary parties before the big celebration Nov. 1. \nSaturday\, Oct. 28\, our Hop Roast Coffee Beer Festival will feature a dozen or so draft coffee craft beers from opening to close\, including Alesmith Speedway Stout\, 2016 Avery Tweak Imperial Stout\, Firestone Walker Mocha Merlin Stout\, Midnight Sun Brewtality Espresso Black Ale\, Oskar Blues Hotbox Coffee Porter\, Reuben’s Home To Home Coffee IPA\, Skookum Woke Up Quick Coffee Milk Stout\, Triceratops Hawthorne Coffee Stout and others. \nTuesday\, Oct. 31\, Peaks and Pints presents Dankenstein\, a Hoppy Halloween Thriller with Green Flash Brewing Co. and Alpine Beer Co. featuring eight hoppy and dank beers\, as well as Green Flash’s 2017 Treasure Chest IPA\, which benefits cancer research. \nPEAKS AND PINTS FIRST ANNIVERSARY SHINDIG\, 6 P.M. SUMMARY:Dankenstein: A Hoppy Halloween in Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:With help from Green Flash Brewing Co. and its sister brewery\, Alpine Beer Co.\, Dr. Hoppy Dankenstein has isolated himself from his family\, friends and colleagues. Unknown to them\, what Dr. Dankenstein intends to host with Green Flash and Alpine is a night of the stickiest of the icky\, the dankest of the dank\, the bombest of the bomb-diggity. Dankenstein scoured the two southern California brewery’s cold storage for the most face-meltingly awesome hoppy beers\, with the goal of showcasing eight of them at Peaks and Pints Halloween night. \nUpon learning Dankenstein’s plans\, his friends\, family and colleagues believe that he’s treading in dangerous territory in creating what they believe is a hoppy monster of a night\, not only because of the nature of the project itself\, but because of one of the beers\, Green Flash’s 2017 Treasure Chest\, is “abnormal” in that it isn’t dank but rather brewed with passionfruit to benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation. \nDankenstein’s father\, Brett Dankenstein\, a sour of a man\, tries to intervene\, but the younger Dankenstein ignores his dad\, and the hoppy monster of a night will indeed go on\, beginning at 6 p.m. \nHow the story will play out Halloween night is anyone’s guess. Certainly\, it will be a tasty night of delicious of Alpine and Green Flash craft beers and a beneficial affair for cancer prevention. \nTo read the entire saga\, and unearth the eight craft beers\, click here. \nDANKENSTEIN: A HOPPY HALLOWEEN THRILLER\, 6 p.m.\, Tuesday\, Oct. 31\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Hop Roast Coffee Beer Festival
DESCRIPTION:Someone once told Peaks and Pints that coffee and beer are the bacon and chocolate for imbibers — two vices that rule supreme in separate domains\, but whose flavor opportunities are magnified when properly combined. And with the coffee scene operating in growing parallel with the craft beer movement\, it makes sense that major breweries across the country have already been uniting dark and sweet stouts\, porters\, as well as IPAs\, with the bitter\, almost dirt-like elements of coffee beans and pulled espresso. Peaks and Pints will celebrate the unification of coffee and beer when we present our Hop Roast Coffee Beer Festival from morning to night Saturday\, Oct. 28 at our little lodge in Tacoma’s Proctor District. \nBeginning at 11 p.m. and running to 11 p.m. we’ll be pouring a killer list of coffee beers\, as well as coffee from Tacoma’s Bluebeard Coffee Roasters. Coffee craft beers pouring include 2016 Avery Tweak Imperial Stout\, Firestone Walker Mocha Merlin Stout\, Midnight Sun Brewtality Espresso Black Ale\, Oskar Blues Hotbox Coffee Porter\, Reuben’s Home To Home Coffee IPA\, Skookum Woke Up Quick Coffee Milk Stout\, and others. \nNo admission charge. Your choice of 10-ounce or 16-ounce pours\, unless the alcohol by volume is too high for 16s. Flights of five\, 5-ounce pours will also be available. \nSomeone also once told us that coffee beer and Halloween costumes are the bacon and chocolate for imbibers\, too. \nHOP ROAST COFFEE BEER FESTIVAL\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday\, Oct. 28\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Bainbridge Cornhole Island Night
DESCRIPTION:They will lob them high and lob them low. \nSometimes they will slide in with much excitement and cheer. Sometimes — oftentimes — they will slide off with a thud and a groan from the lobber. \nBainbridge Island Brewing Co. will host Cornhole Island at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant Thursday\, Oct. 12. It will be flying competitive chaos that night during the cornhole tournament with five Bainbridge Island craft beers on tap\, including a fresh hop\, Old Toe Jam Barleywine and special mole stout. \nThe cornhole premise is simple: Toss a beanbag\, er\, cornbag at a board with a hole in it. Land on the board\, you get one point. Land in the hole\, you get three. Four tosses each turn\, per player\, or team of two\, and first one to 21 wins. Players are also able to cancel out their opponent’s points. If one player gets a bag in the hole for three points but his opponent tosses two bags on the board\, the first player only scores one point. \nIt’s quintessential beer-drinking fun\, but with Bainbridge Island Brewing’s Kenny The Beerman running the show you know it’s going to be extra corny. \nBAINBRIDGE CORNHOLE ISLAND NIGHT\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Oct. 12\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Drinking For Conservation: Fun For Fishers
DESCRIPTION:It’s getting harder to tell the pets from the people in the modern American household\, but it’s not so hard to understand why. Animals\, who operate on instinct and often supply the unconditional loyalty we all crave\, delight us and provide us with solace from the ugly\, stressful world. Wednesday\, Oct. 4 marks World Animal Day\, an effort to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe. Through increased awareness and education we can create a world where animals are always recognised as sentient beings and full regard is always paid to their welfare. \nDrinking For Conservation\, a sub-organization of the Point Defiance Chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers that raises money for endangered species through benefit nights at Tacoma taverns and bars\, hosts a fundraiser for fishers during World Animal Day at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. \nFishers? Indeed. The fisher (Martes pennanti) is a member of the weasel family\, similar to the marten. Fishers are common in the Northeast and Midwest\, but rare in the Northern Rockies and Northwest\, where they are one of the rarest carnivores. Over-harvesting for pelts and loss of forest habitat due to logging and road building has significantly reduced and fragmented the fisher’s range in the Northwest. \nJoin Drinking for Conservation to support this special species at Peaks and Pints. For every pint of Pelican Brewing Co. craft beer\, including the Oregon brewery’s fresh hop\, Peaks and Pints will donate a dollar to fisher conservation. \nSniff around Peaks and Pints Wednesday\, Oct. 4\, drink delicious craft beer and help keep fishers thriving in the Northwest. \nDRINKING FOR CONSERVATION: FUN FOR FISHERS\, 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Oct. 4\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, donations

SUMMARY:Schooner EXACT Ship Wheel of Fortune
DESCRIPTION:Schooner EXACT Ship Wheel of Fortune\nThey say that in life\, you have to risk it all to get it all. During Ship Wheel of Fortune\, you have to spin it to win it all. Now\, people are going to get to experience the thrill of the wheel when Schooner EXACT Brewing Company brings its Ship Wheel of Fortune to Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District Thursday\, Sept. 28. \n“Since its inception in 2007\, the Ship Wheel of Fortune has logged more than 350\,000 miles and has visited more than 300 cities\,” Schooner EXACT Sales Executive Jon Ross didn’t say at all. “More than one million Ship Wheel of Fortune fans have spun the Wheel to win prizes\,” he didn’t say again. \nThe Ship Wheel of Fortune will be one of the highlights when Peaks and Pints calls to order its Lodge Meeting Sept. 28 with the South Seattle brewery as its special guest. Schooner EXACT Fresh Hop IPA\, Grinderface barleywine\, Whiskey Dick Cantwell pumpkin beer and King Street Brown will flow from our Western red cedar tap log as screams of joy burst around the Ship Wheel of Fortune. \nSchooner Exact Brewing was born in 2007 as a part time business working out of an Active Space unit in West Seattle\, brewing two kegs at a time in the evenings and on weekends\, supplying beer to just a couple of accounts in Seattle. Three years later Matt McClung and his wife\, Heather\, left their teaching jobs to become a full-time brewery. Today\, it’s an award-winning brewery in Seattle’s SoDo District with a brewpub and\, of course\, the Ship Wheel of Fortune. \n“The Ship Wheel of Fortune is our own field of dreams\,” Ross\, again\, didn’t say. “If we spin it\, they will come\, and we expect a lot of people to come to Peaks and Pints on September 28.” \nSCHOONER EXACT SHIP WHEEL OF FORTUNE\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Sept. 28\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \n

SUMMARY:Elysian Pumpkin Road Show Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:During the Elysian Brewing Pumpkin Road Show at Peaks and Pints\, the Seattle brewery will serve pumpkin beer out of an actual hollowed-out giant pumpkin flowing through a tap\, orange spheres will fly through the air into Solo Red Cups and a giant jar of pumpkin seeds will wait for the best count guess. \nNo\, we do not mess around with autumn celebrations here at Peaks and Pints. \nThis year\, Peaks and Pints will host the annual Tacoma Elysian Pumpkin Road Show\, a prefunk to the Seattle brewery’s grand pumpkin affair that includes 80-plus pumpkin beers Sept. 29-30 — the Elysian Great Pumpkin Beer Festival at the Seattle Center. Peaks and Pints will pour eight Elysian pumpkin beers\, including exclusive Gourd Father Barleywine\, Blight Pumpkin Ale with spiced Japanese cinnamon\, Dark Knife Pumpkin Schwarzbier and Cursed Hearse Pumpkin Saison. \nIn addition to the pumpkin beers\, we’ll present a pumpkin firkin\, pumpkin beer pong\, pumpkin seed guessing contest\, pumpkin goblets and many giveaways\, including a pair of tickets to Friday and Saturday versions of the Great Pumpkin Beer Festival in Seattle. \nFall has long been the season of the gourd. Pumpkins are the stars of spice lattes; pie and farmers grow them so large that they’re no longer measured in pounds\, but in tons. But the simplest pleasure when it comes to the pumpkin is — cue Billy Corgan — drinking gobs of them from a pumpkin goblet. \nELYSIAN PUMPKIN ROAD SHOW TACOMA\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 21\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Schilling Hard Cider Lodge Meeting Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:In 1881\, Colin Schilling’s great-great-grandfather\, August\, founded the Schilling Spice Company in San Francisco\, with a goal of bringing pure\, natural spices to everyone at a fair price. Today\, at Schilling Hard Cider\, August’s core values are carried forward and paired with innovative cider-making techniques to produce quality and complex hard ciders that\, according to media hype\, is the number on selling craft cider with three taprooms — Auburn\, Seattle and a 50-tap cider house in Portland — and retail in 20 states. Think about all that plus the fact that Schilling uses only 100 percent fresh pressed apples\, locally sourced non-GMO ingredients\, and individually hand-selected yeast strains with beer yeast rather than wine yeast (Schilling likes beer yeast rather than wine yeast for the malt flavor) as you enjoy Schilling Cider during our Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 14. \nSCHILLING HARD CIDER LODGE MEETING\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Sept. 14\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:2 Towns Ciderhouse: Autumn Of Our Eye
DESCRIPTION:2 Towns Ciderhouse: Autumn Of Our Eye\nThursday\, Sept. 7\, Peaks and Pints welcomes 2 Towns Ciderhouse to our Proctor District lodge tapping the Corvallis\, Oregon cidery’s fall deliciousness: Nice & Naughty Spiced Bad Apple and Hollow Jack. \nIn late 2010\, Corvallis homebrewers Aaron Sarnoff-Wood and Lee Larsen filled a gap in the college town’s drinking scene — cider. The duo opened 2 Towns Ciderhouse crafting unique ciders brewed with the traditional English and French-style’s tannic apples\, Oregon grown\, of course. Named after the cities of Corvallis and Eugene (Larsen’s a Beaver; Sarnoff-Wood a Duck)\, 2 Towns believes “… that the long history of cidermaking demands respect and deserves to be done right\,” states the cidery’s motto. “Starting with the highest quality whole ingredients from local farms\, we take no shortcuts in crafting our ciders. We never add any sugar\, concentrates or artificial flavors\, and instead use slow\, cold fermentation methods to allow the fruit to speak for itself. As a family-owned company\, we are committed to the growth of our team and enrichment of our communities. We take pride in producing true Northwest craft cider.” \nAt 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Sept. 7\, 2 Towns’ Nice & Naughty Spiced Bad Apple and Hollow Jack will flow from our Western red cedar tap log. Crammed full of whole cinnamon\, nutmeg and clove\, Nice & Naughty doesn’t drink like 10.5 percent ABV. At a lower 6.4 percent\, Hollow Jack is far from empty\, with fresh-pressed apples\, caramelized pumpkin\, sweet potatoes and a dash of honey and spices. \nLabor Day is over. The white pants are in the closet. It’s time to ring in fall (OK\, it’s still blazing warm outside) with 2 Towns Ciderhouse. \n2 TOWNS CIDERHOUSE: AUTUMN OF OUR EYE\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 7\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nSave

SUMMARY:Wingman S'mores Porter release party
DESCRIPTION:What happens when the owners of Wingman Brewers and Peaks and Pints gather around a campfire to toast their latest collaboration batch of Peaks and Pints Perfect Proctor Porter? Yes\, a mean game of Kick The Can\, but also a recipe development for their new collaboration\, S’mores Porter. \nChildhood memories in an adult beverage\, indeed: Wingman Brewers and Peaks and Pints will release S’mores Porter on draft and in cans at 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Sept. 6 at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. \n“To refresh everyone’s memory\, s’mores are the tasty treats prepared for dessert around the campfire\, including roasted marshmallows and chocolate between two graham crackers\,” said Peter Brown\, Wingman Brewers lead brewer on the S’mores Porter. “I think this porter will turn out as delicious and drinkable.” \nBrown\, Wingman co-owner/sales director Daniel Heath and Peaks and Pints co-owner Ron Swarner brewed the first batch in July 2017\, singing campfire songs as they stirred Pale\, Chocolate\, Victory\, Black and Carafa Type 2 malts in the mash tun. As Cascade and Saaz hops boiled the three campers tossed in an endless stream of marshmallows and Honey Maid Graham Crackers. \nIn addition to draft\, S’mores Porter will be available in 12-ounce cans. Tacoma graphic artist Sam Dollar designed the can\, featuring caricatures of the three Peaks and Pints owners wilderness camping with Brown\, Thoburn and Heath. \n“It’s pretty awesome\,” added Robby Peterson\, the one who brings the beer to the campfire\, at least according to the can’s label. \nIn addition to pints and cans of Wingman’s S’mores Porter at the Sept. 6 release party\, Peaks and Pints will serve Tacoma’s Auntie B’s S’mores Jars\, the house dessert featuring chocolate cream\, ganache\, spiced cookie crumble and vanilla-honey kissed meringue. \nFor complete story on the Wingman Brewers / Peaks and Pints S’mores Porter\, click here. \nWINGMAN S’MORES PORTER RELEASE PARTY\, 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Sept. 6\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, (253) 328-5621
