Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Short Throw On the Fly

Share

Brandon Tolbert gained notoriety as head brewer at The Answer Brewpub. In fact, his Answer Brewpub nabbed the 2015 Best New Brewery in Virginia. Three years later, while he was scribbling plans for his own brewery, Tolbert honed his skills at Final Gravity Brewing and Ardent Craft Ales. In 2019, he launched Short Throw Brewing with the help of Twelve Percent Beer Project in North Haven Connecticut, North Haven. In January 2021, RateBeer named Short Throw eighth “Best New Brewery in the World,” the second “Best New Brewery in the United States,” and once again for Tolbert, the Best New Brewery in the state of Virginia. Short Throw will continue to brew and distribute with Twelve Percent until Tolbert is confident he can open a brick-and-mortar location in Richmond. In the meantime, Peaks and Pints presents a to-go flight of Short Throw beers — a flight we’re calling Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Short Throw On the Fly.

Peaks and Pints Pilot Program: Short Throw On the Fly

Short Throw Rooftop Money

12.5% ABV

Narrow Gauge Brewing Co. brewer-owner Jeff Hardesty might have put Florissant, Missouri, on the national beer map with his juicy, hazy Northeast-style IPAs, but Hardesty and his Warzone gamer partner, Brandon Tolbert, sure know how to brew a delicious imperial pastry stout, Rooftop Money. “This is a tribute to those stacks of cashola you may find upon random buildings when you need your partner back,” says Tolbert via Rooftop Money hype. “If you know, you know.” This decadent imperial stout is layered with marshmallows, toasted coconut, whole vanilla beans, and dark roasted coffee. “Enemy dropping in!”

Short Throw Stabbo Collabo

8% ABV

Recycled Brewing was formed by two experienced brewers, Jason and Eric, after many spirited conversations amongst friends and family during the pandemic of 2020. Knowing each other professionally, but never working together, they decided it was time to recycle their 20 years of knowledge about brewing and start something of our own. Eric traveled from St. Petersburg, Florida to Connecticut to brew Stabbo Collabo with Short Throw. This super soft, hazy double IPA is blessed with Nelson Sauvin, Mosaic, and Idaho 7 hops on the hot side. They dry hopped with the same varieties but went Nelson heavy for notes of Stone fruit, citrus, gooseberry, mango, and mixed berries.

Short Throw White Van Vibez

8.4% ABV

An ode to 30-minute conversations in a white Sprinter, White Van Vibez combines Citra, Strata, and El Dorado hops on the hot side of the brewing process. Then Short Throw dry hops exclusively with Galaxy hops. The van convo turns to notes and aromatics of citrus, papaya, pineapple, and grapefruit.
