The regional Grit & Grain beer podcast will host Hay and her basket full of Tacoma icon foods — Frisko Freeze\, Johnson Candy\, Almond Roca\, Ice Cream Social\, and others — for a food and local beer pairing double episode at Peaks & Pints\, the podcast’s recording home on Wednesdays. \nIn 2023\, Foster’s Creative\, a Hispanic-owned creative agency launched by Bryson and Kristin Foster seven years earlier\, presented the “ten of us” 2023\, a community project in collaboration with eTc Tacoma\, the streetwear boutique located in downtown Tacoma. Peaks will tap several Fast Fashion beers to enjoy during the podcast. \nIn 2018\, art took Stillwater Artisanal Ales founder Brian Strumke to Seattle\, where he met Matt Storm\, owner of The Masonry\, the man known for his intensely curated beer list and wood-fired pizza. In 2020\, the pandemic paused Strumke’s nomadic lifestyle and\, allowing him to dive into Storm’s concept for a new brewery\, Fast Fashion. The duo began brewing a series of small batch beers paired with a smart\, fashionable Instagram account. Fast Fashion became its own fashion tribe of line-out-the-door beer culture. Great Notion was the first Portland brewery to become known for hazies — controversial style that traditionalists snubbed. Now the traditionalists are all wearing Great Notion T-shirts. DESCRIPTION:Grit and Grain Episode 75: Scott Travis and Lambics\nLambics — whether straight lambics\, faro\, gueuze\, or fruit based — are produced only in one area of Belgium\, the Senne River Valley\, south and west of Brussels in the Pajottenland region. Officially speaking\, lambic is an appellation — like “Champagne” and “bourbon” — and the use of the l-word is strictly enforced and reserved for beers made exclusively in said region. Most important of all\, they’re beers that are spontaneously fermented by the airborne wild yeasts and bacteria present in this valley and nowhere else on the face of the Earth. The real beauty of these ales is how different they are from brewery to brewery\, batch to batch\, barrel to barrel. Hell\, the beer even changes with each sip down the glass. Adventure is out there. After earning the Enterprise Challenge held annually by the Yakima County Development Association and the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce\, Varietal became a thing. They knew they couldn’t launch with their dream wild ales\, so they added a variety of other beer styles to get rolling.
