Silver City Brewery sold

Ackley Brands, led by President Brandon Ackley, has snapped up another well-known Washington beer brand. The family-owned company, based in Seattle, that owns and operates premium beverage brands from the Pacific Northwest, including Mac & Jack’s Brewery, Hogue Cellars, Columbia Winery, and Charles Smith Wines, has acquired Silver City Brewery in Bremerton. Silver City Brewery crafts bold, flavorful beers year-round, highlighted by their rich and warming Old Scrooge Christmas Ale—a holiday favorite brimming with malt depth and seasonal cheer. 2025 Bend Beer Run

The 2025 Bend Beer Run returns on Saturday, Aug. 30, inviting participants 21 and older to enjoy a fun-filled 5K that winds through downtown Bend and the scenic paths of Drake Park along the Deschutes River. Starting at noon outside The Commons Café, this untimed run includes four beer-tasting stops featuring local craft breweries. It concludes at the Deschutes Historical Museum, where runners gain entry into The Little Woody Festival. (The Little Woody)

Today’s Top 40

In 2024, the world’s 40 largest brewing groups collectively produced 1,639 million hectoliters of beer, a 0.6 percent decrease from 2023. These figures are taken from the BarthHaas Report Hops 2024/2025, the latest annual report on global developments in the beer and hop markets. The first eleven places in the rankings remained unchanged year on year. Still leading the rankings are AB InBev (495.5m hl), Heineken (240.7m hl), and China Res. Snow Breweries (108.8m hl). Together, these three companies accounted for more than half of the global beer output of the top 40 brewers. (New School Beer)
