SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Pray For Snow Party
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Pray For Snow Party\nSaturday\, Nov. 16\, Peaks and Pints will ask our guests to pray to the mythical Norse God of Snow\, Ullr. That’s not so odd; when you think about it\, as long-range forecasts are calling for a 40 percent probability Washington will see above-normal temperatures through February. 10 Barrel Brewing knows. The Bend\, Oregon-based brewery is hosting “Pray for Snow” parties at their brewpubs\, as well as hosting the Peaks and Pints Pray For Snow Party at 6 p.m. Nov. 16. In addition to a snowboard and skiing My Ninja Suit giveaways\, 10 Barrel will screen their Hold My Beer… winter sports film on Peaks’ 130-inch screen. Also\, 50 cents of every draft beer sold will benefit students at Gray Middle School. \nThe film follows professional snowboarders\, Curtis Ciszek\, Eric Jackson\, and a crew of friends while they chase snow all over North America with a healthy supply of beer in tow. From the steep peaks of Alaska to deep powder in the southern Rockies\, it’s a film that will get just about anyone stoked for winter. \nOne of the reasons for predicted warm conditions is the blob of unusually warm water in the Pacific Ocean. The blob may contribute to less snowpack this winter because the warmer air coming off the ocean can push freezing levels higher. That’s why we must pray while drinking 10 Barrel’s Pray For Snow Winter Ale! Expect other 10 Barrel brews on tap\, including special one-offs. \nFounded in 2006 by three guys in Bend\, 10 Barrel’s motto has always been brew beer\, drink beer\, and have fun doing it! They spend powder days getting face shots on the hill\, hot summer afternoons floating the Deschutes River\, and somehow still find the time to brew beer. \nThe Pray For Snow Party is also a fundraiser for Communities in Schools of Tacoma\, a local non-profit that provides additional resources to children and families in the Tacoma School District. As mention previously\, 50 cents of every tap pour from 6-9 p.m. will benefit Communities in Schools of Tacoma’s charitable efforts at Gray Middle School on South Tyler Street. \nPEAKS AND PINTS PRAY FOR SNOW PARTY\, 6-9 p.m.\, Saturday\, Nov. 16\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nCheck out the trailer below:

SUMMARY:Tacoma Beer Week: Hopnificent 6 vs Big Lebowski
DESCRIPTION:Tacoma Beer Week: Hopnificent 6 vs Big Lebowski \nSimply put\, The Big Lebowski is one of the funniest films ever made\, and infinitely rewatchable. Jeff Bridges plays “the Dude\,” a laid-back\, easygoing burnout who happens to have the same name as a millionaire whose wife owes a lot of dangerous people a whole bunch of money. The plot of this Raymond Chandler-esque comedy crime caper from Joel and Ethan Coen pivots around a case of mistaken identity complicated by extortion\, double-crosses\, deception\, embezzlement\, sex\, marijuana and gallons of White Russian cocktails. The Dude abides. Peaks and Pints will host Tacoma Beer Week: Hopnificent 6 vs Big Lebowski at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Aug. 15 — screening the film\, organize a bowling party at neighboring Chalet Bowl and pouring craft beer from the Hopnificent 6: Breakside Brewery\, Ecliptic Brewing\, Fort George Brewery\, Pike Brewing\, Reuben’s Brews\, and Standard Brewing. \nWho are the Hopnificent 6? \nThey are six dudes who keep Peaks and Pints’ Western red cedar tap log flowing with delicious craft beer. For the third Tacoma Beer Week in a row\, Peaks and Pints will allow Joe from Breakside\, Kyle from Ecliptic\, Hoyt from Fort George\, Jon from Pike\, Conrad from Reuben’s and Ken from Standard to have the run of the joint. This year\, they could arrive wearing bathrobes\, purple jumpsuits\, carrying rugs\, or donning classic bowling attire as depicted in The Big Lewbowski. The Hopnificent 6 abide. \nAt 6 p.m. Thursday\, Aug. 15\, Peaks and Pints will pouring the Hopnificent 6 beers will hosting a Big Lebowski trivia contest. Around 7 p.m.\, all those who want to bowl will walk over to Chalet Bowl for no-host bowling with many opportunities to win prizes. When the clock strikes 8\, it’s back to Peaks and Pints for The Big Lebowski on the big screen cheering the unemployed Los Angeleno\, some nihilists\, a missing rug\, a missing wife and lots of bowling. \nPeaks and Pints encourages appropriate costumes and all the Dudeisms. Yes\, it’s very Dude to space on this one\, but don’t be the Dude in this case and join us for a fun Tacoma Beer Week night. \nTACOMA BEER WEEK: HOPNIFICENT 6 VS BIG LEBOWSKI\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Aug. 15\, 7 p.m. no host bowling at Chalet Bowl\, 8 p.m. film screening\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Starring Northish Beer Feat. Tim Curry as The Darkness
DESCRIPTION:Starring Northish Beer Feat. Tim Curry as The Darkness\nWednesday\, Jan. 9\, Peaks and Pints will be invaded by fantastical creatures\, witness a battle between darkness and light\, be visited by a beautiful\, innocent maiden and the unicorn she loves\, kneel before the bright-red\, horny glory Lord of Darkness\, and — most importantly — be drenched in glitter. \nEnter a world of unicorns\, magic swamps\, dwarves and rainbows when Northish Beer Co. transforms our weekly Lodge Meeting into a ludicrous\, middle ages fairytale starring the Tacoma brewery’s glitter imperial oatmeal stout\, “Feat. Tim Curry as The Darkness.” \n“We were enamored with the visual style of infamous Ridley Scott’s fantasy film\, Legend\,” says R.J. Adler\, sales executive for Northish. “The film is drenched in glitter. So we embarked on a grand experiment to capture the film’s themes of light and darkness in a glitter beer. Built on a recipe of a rich\, dark imperial oatmeal stout\, the oats lighten up the roast\, revealing a delicate cocoa note. And\, we named the beer for the best actor in the movie\, ‘Feat. Tim Curry as The Darkness’.”  \nLegend was a flop when it came out in 1985. Most criticisms of the film then\, and now\, cite the good/evil clichés at the center of the plot\, the overly dark tone of the film and Tom Cruise’s flat performance. But\, as Adler notes\, the film is visually remarkable including the forest shot inside of a studio and Tim Curry’s Academy Award-nominated makeup. Speaking of Curry\, even though this movie represents a lull in Cruise’s career between Risky Business and Top Gun\, Curry is especially good in his bombastic personification of Darkness. \nPeaks and Pints will screen a closed caption version of Legend on our 130-foot screen while (hopefully) mystically dressed guests sip on Feat. Tim Curry as The Darkness\, as well as other Northish craft beers including cold-conditioned Festish German Lager\, Werifesteria barrel-fermented saison and Wolf Link IPA. Katie Lowry of The Warehouse will DJ. \nLegend had Tom Cruise\, unicorns\, and the director of Blade Runner behind the camera. Why did Ridley Scott’s fairy tale end so unhappily? Discuss it over a glass of glitter. \nSTARRING NORTHISH BEER FEAT. TIM CURRY AT THE DARKNESS\, 6-9 p.m. Wednesday\, Jan. 9\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover
