Howling at the moon optional. \nPeaks and Pints AleSmith Speedway Grand Prix Road Show Draft \nAleSmith Speedway Stout \n12% ABV \nCrashing in with an ABV of 12 percent\, AleSmith’s Speedway Stout goes a step farther than most coffee-flavored stouts and porters (which derive their flavor from roasted malts) and includes an unspecified amount of ground coffee in the brewing process. The result is an intimidatingly dark beer that pours smoothly\, leaves very little head\, and is surprisingly light and easy to drink. The coffee flavor dominates: the beer is reminiscent of a freshly brewed iced coffee with hints of chocolate and caramel. The malt is rich and strong and can have a deep bready-toasty quality with a deep caramel complexity. The fruity esters contain raisin\, plum\, dried cherry\, fig or prune notes. DESCRIPTION:Dankenstein: A Hoppy Halloween Thriller\nWith help from Peaks & Pints\, Dr. Hoppy Dankenstein has isolated himself from his friends\, family\, and colleagues. Unknown to them\, what Dr. Dankenstein intends to host with Peaks & Pints is a full day of the stickiest of the icky\, the dankest of the dank\, the bombest of the bomb-diggity. Dankenstein scoured craft breweries’ coolers for the most face-meltingly awesome danky beers\, with the goal of showcasing them at Peaks and Pints on Halloween. \nUpon learning Dankenstein’s plans\, his friends\, family\, and colleagues believe that he’s treading in dangerous territory in creating what they believe is a hoppy monster of a day\, not only because of the nature of the project itself\, but because Peaks & Pints will also tap pumpkin beer\, Rogue Ales’ Dead Guy Maibock-Style Ale\, and other scary beers\, which are “abnormal” in that they’re not dank but rather just seasonally appropriate. \nDankenstein argues that\, yes\, “dank” refers to beers that “smell like good weed” but dank also refers to “high-quality” that the kids these days use to describe their TikToks. He also explains Dead Guy has an ever-so-subtle bitter hoppy flavor. \nDankenstein’s friends\, family\, and colleagues attribute the term “dank” to mean “pungent\, funky and odoriferous\, to both good weed and very hoppy IPAs.” Hops and marijuana both contain terpenoids\, compounds that give the plants similar characteristics. In fact\, both fall into the taxonomic family Cannabaceae\, so it follows that you could create a fairly stinky beer with the right treatment of the right hops. Hops don’t get you high\, but in smell\, taste and appearance\, they often feel just about as … dank. \nDankenstein’s father\, Brett Dankenstein\, a sour of a man\, tries to intervene\, but the younger Dankenstein ignores his dad\, and the hoppy monster of a day will indeed go on\, beginning at 11 a.m. \nHow the story will play out on Halloween is anyone’s guess. Pastry stouts. Peaks and Pints will prove it so when we present our Halloween party\, “Rocky Horror Pastry Stout\,” beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Oct. 31. \nPeaks and Pints will screen the subtitle version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with the soundtrack on our 130-inch screen All Hallows’ Eve with many pastry stouts on tap. Enjoy delicious pastry stouts while watching the characters get into wacky kerfuffles and break out into song and dance. Indulge in The Bruery’s Coconut Macaroons Imperial Stout as you watch young Brad and Janet deal with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and stop at a creepy castle for a phone. Sip on a Modern Times’ Monsters Park Blackberry Cobbler as you witness the creepy castle’s party for the creation of super-hunk\, Rocky Horror\, by the evil transvestite scientist\, Dr. Furter. You’ll see Dr. Furter and his gang of humanoid aliens from planet Transsexual wreak havoc on the couple as you gulp down Great Divide’s S’mores Yeti. The rest is better experienced rather than read. \nThe Rocky Horror Picture Show is more than just a movie just as pastry stouts are more than just imperial stouts. The film has become a community and a safe space for viewers to congregate and participate in the singing\, dancing\, acting\, and dressing up in elaborate costumes. It is an opportunity to see oneself in a film; it provides a place for self-expression. Pastry stouts — decadent\, sticky\, high-alcohol\, highly sweet\, adjunct-heavy imperial stouts — are a delicious canvas for brewers to express themselves with lactose\, molasses\, vanilla\, cinnamon\, candied ginger and gingerbread cookies\, just to name a few ingredients. The cavity-forward stouts allow brewers to glam up their beers\, centered around fun\, around ostentatiousness\, madness and good times for all. The Rocky Horror Picture Show and pastry stouts deserve to be picked apart one delicious piece at a time. \nWARNING: Peaks and Pints Rocky Horror Pastry Stout is meant to be fun.
