SUMMARY:Fly With Friendly Beer Guys
DESCRIPTION:Fly With Friendly Beer Guys\nIt was the French in the 1870s who made the first paper toys based on the idea of flight: paper and feather ornithopters\, fanciful helicopters\, balloons\, and eventually airships. French toy makers also offered one of the first models of the Wrights’ plane in 1908. \nSauvignon blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originates from the Bordeaux region of France. The grape most likely gets its name from the French words sauvage (“wild”) and blanc (“white”) due to its early origins as an indigenous grape in South West France. \nThese two French inventions will collide at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 19 when Peaks and Pints hosts the release party for the Wingman Brewers and Airways Brewing Nelson Sauvin\, Sauvignon Blanc hazy double IPA collaboration — complete with paper airplane contest. Brewed with Nelson Sauvin hops\, the IPA receives a healthy addition of Sauvignon blanc wine grapes for a grape nose. We’ll also tap other craft delights from the two airplane-themed breweries. \nLadies and gentlemen\, the brewers have turned on the Fasten Seat Belt sign. If you haven’t already done so\, please stow your carry-into luggage underneath the barstools. Please take your seat and construct your paper airplanes. And also make sure your friend is in a full upright position. \nCheers! \nFLY WITH FRIENDLY BEER GUYS\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 19\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Coaster House Construction with 20 Corners Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Coaster House Construction with 20 Corners Brewing\nThe first 20 corners are the toughest. Ask any coaster house builder and they’ll agree — building a coaster house becomes easier after those first 20 corners are in place. Peaks and Pints isn’t sure if 20 Corners Brewing ran into the same issue and\, therefore\, stopped once they reached 20 corners on their beautiful brewery in Woodinville\, but we do know delicious beer emerges from their 20-cornered structure. \nPeaks and Pints will host 20 Corners Brewing and a beer coaster house building contest at 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 21 in our craft beer bar\, bottle shop and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. \nThere are several ways to build a house of coasters. The “classic” method that you may have seen in popular media is based on a series of triangular trusses that peak to a point in a card pyramid. Many professional card-stackers\, however\, start their structures with a four-card cell or “lock box\,” which forms a much more stable foundation for complex designs. \nPeaks and Pints isn’t sure if Andrew Davis and Vern Olson formulated their 20 Corners Brewing business while sitting around a campsite table building a coaster house in 2013\, but the duo incorporated their love for the outdoors into their building motif and craft beers\, as demonstrated by the names of their beers we’re pouring: hazy Elk Haze IPA\, hazy Ghost Trees IPA\, Ground Rush IPA brewed with Simcoe and Mosaic\, and Calypso Peach Sour. \n“From fishing\, skiing\, biking\, you name it\, our love for the outdoors and creating a brewing process that positively impacts the outdoors is why we do this\,” states the 20 Corners Brewing’s website. \nPeaks and Pints likes how that stacks. \nJoin 20 Corners Brewing Thursday\, March 21 at Peaks and Pints and build a house of coasters with all the corners. \nCOASTER HOUSE CONSTRUCTION WITH 20 CORNERS BREWING\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 21\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Rogue 10 Hop and 10 Jumbo Crayons Night Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Rogue 10 Hop and 10 Jumbo Crayons Night Tacoma\nPeaks and Pints will hold a Lodge Meeting with Rogue Ales & Spirits on the agenda — specifically the southern Oregon’s Hop Family series of IPAs new release\, Hop 10\, Thursday\, May 31. In addition to the 10 Hop and other Rogue Ales beers on tap\, peaks and Pints will host a coloring contest using Playskool’s 10 Jumbo Crayons set. \nIn May of 1989\, John Maier arrived in the small Oregon coastal town of Newport just in time to create Rogue Ales brew #1. Twenty-eight years and more than 20\,000 brews later\, Maier still rides his bike daily over the Yaquina Bay Bridge to the brewery where he continues to create innovative brews that have garnered international acclaim. One of the pioneers in the craft-brewing world\, Rogue consistently puts out award-winning beers year after year\, winning gold in national and international competitions. \nRogue grows its own hops on a 42-acre hopyard on the banks of the Willamette River in Independence\, Oregon. Each year\, Rogue Farms strings\, stakes\, trains\, trims\, separates\, sorts\, kilns\, cools and bales the hops it grows before sending them to the Rogue Brewery in Newport\, Oregon. Ten of the hops — Rogue Farms Liberty\, Newport\, Revolution\, Independent\, Freedom\, Rebel\, Yaquina\, Alluvial\, Adair and Keven — were thrown into the kettles while brewing this 10 percent ABV double IPA. \nROGUE 10 HOP AND 10 JUMBO CRAYONS NIGHT\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 31\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:SudsPop: No-Li Brewhouse Game Show Night
DESCRIPTION:Suppose some smartypants decided to conduct a study aimed at determining the hierarchy of the days of the week\, best to worst. Does anyone have to wonder where Monday would fall on that list? Easily the most reviled day of the week\, Monday is defined as “fun’s over\, back to work.” Fortunately\, Northend Tacoma’s bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant\, Peaks and Pints\, is doing its part to give Monday a makeover with some Friday-style flair. Every month Peaks and Pints invites a craft brewery to create a three-hour soundtrack off our Jukebox\, pour its craft beer and award prizes during zany games. We call the Monday nights SudsPop. Mike Lay of No-Li Brewhouse will pair his Spokane brewery’s barrel-aged craft beer with Price Is Right/Let’s Make A Deal like games with sweet prizes. SudsPop equals no excuses. \nSUDSPOP: NO-LI BREWHOUSE GAME SHOW NIGHT\, 6 p.m.\, Monday\, May 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:SudsPop: Name That Tune with No-Li Brewhouse
DESCRIPTION:More annoying\, even\, than having a stone stuck in your shoe or sitting Interstate 5 traffic at the Fife curve is having a song going around and around in your head. (I GET KNOCKED DOWN\, BUT I GET UP AGAIN / YOU ARE NEVER GONNA KEEP ME DOWN! You’re welcome.) We mean\, are we right or are we right? \nMost annoying\, however\, is having a song stuck in your head and not being able to remember what it is. “You know — it’s that song!” you say frustratedly to coworkers. “It goes like this: La la la\, ooh\, la la\, yeah. … Come on\, you know the one! You must know it! We think it was on the Dawson’s Creek soundtrack once. It has a really long chorus! What’s it called?” \nYour friend\, meanwhile\, looks at you all “Dude? You’re on your own. Dawson’s Creek? Please.” \nEnter No-Li Brewhouse sales executive Mike Lay. The man has 1990’s songs stuck in his head and he wants to share the\, er\, wealth Monday night. \nEvery month Peaks and Pints invites a craft brewery to create a three-hour soundtrack off our Jukebox\, pour its craft beer and award prizes during zany games. We call the Monday nights SudsPop. Mike Lay will pair his Spokane brewery’s Slacker and Crony with a Name That Tune 1990s game for chance to win sweet prizes. \nTo us\, at least\, this brings to mind the old joke that goes “Who sings that song you’re humming? Alice In Chains? Well\, great\, let’s keep it that way.” \nSo drop by Peaks and Pints Monday night\, have a pint of orangey vanilla Slacker and Crony brown ale and guess songs from the 1990s after hearing the first several notes. And don’t let that obscure Marcy Playground tune get the better of you. Just please don’t hum it anywhere near us after you win your prize. You know we’ll have it stuck in our head all night. \nSUDSPOP: NAME THAT TUNE WITH NO-LI BREWHOUSE\, 6 p.m.\, Monday\, May 8\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:SudsPop with No-Li Brewhouse Two Truths and a Lie
DESCRIPTION:The art of lying is both a gift and a curse. You can get away with lying for a while\, but eventually it will come back to haunt you. Or will it? No-Li Brewhouse sales executive Mike Lay wants to confuse you into hilarity. \nEvery month Peaks and Pints invites a craft brewery to create a three-hour soundtrack off our Jukebox\, pour its craft beer and award prizes during zany games. We call the Monday nights SudsPop. No-Li Brewhouse will host SudsPop every Monday night in May. \nTry to decipher if Mike Lay is trying to deceive or confess while you drink the Spokane brewery’s Red White & No-Li Pale Ale and Big Juicy IPA. Guess the lie and win a prize. \nYou might get confused\, but you’re going to laugh like crazy.

SUMMARY:Dogfish Head Pre Record Store Day Party
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints digs music\, as evident with our weekly Monday SudsPop music and craft beer nights\, in which a single craft brewery takes over our jukebox\, pours its beers and hosts wacky games. \nThursday\, April 20\, we’ll host a special SudsPop night inviting Dogfish Head Crafted Ales to our little lodge for a pre Record Store Day celebration. \nEvery year\, the Baltimore brewery creates the official beer of Record Store Day; this year a tropical blonde ale called Beer To Drink Music To ’17. The ale features hibiscus flowers and kiwi juice\, with strong citrus fruit aromas\, hints of grapefruit and floral notes and a crisp\, dry finish. We’ll be pouring the Beer To Drink Music To ’17 — as well as 120 Minute IPA\, Olde School Barleywine\, Palo Santo Marron and World Wide Stout — from our Western red cedar tap log beginning at 6 p.m. \nEvery Dogfish Head beer ordered comes with a raffle ticket with a change to win an awesome Crosley/Dogfish Head turntable\, which is on display at Peaks and Pints. \nIn addition\, bring in receipts from vinyl purchases April 1-20 for an extra chance to win the turntable. In addition\, there will be plenty of Dogfish Head door prizes\, including free Record Store Day posters while supplies last. \nDOGFISH HEAD PRE RECORD STORE DAY PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 20\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Off Trail with Deschutes Brewery featuring Pacific Wonderland Lager
DESCRIPTION:Off Trail with Deschutes Brewery begins with a bearded storyteller telling a tale about Gary Fish opening a brewpub in Bend\, Oregon\, in 1988\, naming it Deschutes Brewery. There are references to the 10 straight batches of beer that went bad in the first year\, original brewmaster John Harris’ brewing style\, and how a buried keg of beer in the snow became Jubelale. From there\, the plot follows a predictable path: Deschutes can’t keep up with demand\, grows\, grows again and two feuding families fight over the brewery while forbidden love blossoms\, although we’re fact checking the last two scenes. All of this\, rounded out with a lot of tumbling\, and the occasional pyrotechnic. \nDeschutes still remains family and employee owned\, known for brewing a diverse line-up of award winning beers including its flagship beers Black Butte Porter and Mirror Pond Pale Ale — named after beautiful\, natural places in Bend. \nOff Trail with Deschutes Brewery will hit Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and eatery at 6 p.m.\, Friday\, Jan. 20. Deschutes craft beers will flow from our Western red cedar tap tree\, including a 2015 The Abyss and the new Pacific Wonderland Lager. Deschutes Brewery Sales Executive Norm Cartwright will emcee Off Trail with Deschutes Brewery. Cartwright will raffle off cool camping equipment with the money benefiting Green Tacoma Partnership. \nThe Beer\nCartwright will bust through the Peaks and Pints door Jan. 20 with Deschutes craft beers. He’s still whittling down the final craft line-up from a field of 87 beers\, but Deschutes’ new Pacific Wonderland Lager\, Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale and a keg of 2015 The Abyss Imperial Stout will be on tap. \nDeschutes Brewery always believed the best way to respect tradition is to brew the unexpected. So when the Bend\, Oregon\, brewery set out to create a sessionable lager befitting of the Pacific Northwest\, their sense of exploration led them to the dry-hopped Pacific Wonderland Lager. Citrusy Tettnang Mandarina hops combine with the crisp\, bright character of a traditional lager to deliver a beer that is truly refreshing\, and undoubtedly worth sharing. \nThe 2015 The Abyss Imperial Stout — brewed with licorice and molasses and aged in French oak and bourbon barrels — will pour into a snifter\, allowing the aroma of bourbon\, coffee and wood to lift you off our aged fir flooring as if in a séance. After aging for 10 months in our cellar (read: 7 Seas Brewing Tacoma plant’s basement) the flavors of molasses-tinged sweetness\, coffee\, dark chocolate\, light cherries\, cigar box\, roasted malts\, toast\, currants and vanilla meld and fuse into an entirely different pleasure. \nGreen Tacoma Partnership\nFormed in 2005\, the Green Tacoma Partnership is a public-private venture between the city of Tacoma\, Metro Parks Tacoma\, Forterra\, other nonprofits\, businesses and community members. According to Green Tacoma partnership’s website\, “The Partnership works to engage the Tacoma community in the restoration and maintenance of viable\, healthy green spaces by connecting stewardship groups\, providing resources and trainings and organizing public outreach. For Tacoma’s residents\, working together for a common cause in a local green space is a great way to build community. A community of connected\, educated and engaged volunteers is the backbone of a strong\, healthy and beautiful Green Tacoma.” \nThe Raffle\nDeschutes is sponsoring a $1 raffle with 100 percent of the funds going toward Green Tacoma Partnership. Raffle winners could score a portable fire pit\, a camping cooler or Deschutes gift basket. \nFor more information on Deschutes Brewery\, check out Peaks and Pints Houses of Craft section. \nOFF TRAIL WITH DESCHUTES BREWERY\, 6 p.m.\, Friday\, Jan. 20\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma\, no cover \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave \nSave
