DESCRIPTION:Fort George 2025 3-Way IPA Release Party\nSummer is an exciting time for beer nerds. Regionally\, the season is met with the release of Fort George Brewery‘s (Astoria\, Ore.) 3-Way IPA. The hoppy beer is an annual collaboration — in its 13th year — with two other West Coast breweries. Sunriver Brewing (Sunriver\, Ore.) and Mirage Beer (Seattle\, Wash.) join this year’s brew. Join Peaks & Pints for the Official Tacoma 3-Way IPA Release at 5 p.m. Wednesday\, May 21. We will have 3-Way and other Fort George beers\, plus several from Mirage\, on tap. Fort George Sale Executive Kyle Vormestrand will be in-house sampling and handing out swag from 5-8 p.m. \nTHE STORY \nFort George’s 3-Way IPA has become a signal to the start of summer. Once a year\, Fort George extends an invitation to two breweries\, chosen for their mastery in the art of IPAs. The goal is to come together\, exchange knowledge\, forge lasting friendships\, and create an IPA that everyone is excited to drink along the way. That collaboration is then brewed\, packed into a brilliant new 16-ounce can\, and sent out for the pure enjoyment of the Pacific Northwest. \nThe three breweries start by brainstorming beer sessions in the fall\, brewing Beta IPAs\, blind tastings\, lab tests\, aroma analysis\, color checks\, and long conversations until it’s perfect\, and then putting the newly minted star on stage. The result is like a fine-tuned bluegrass trio on washtub bass\, washboard\, and flute. The line-up changes yearly\, and no two 3-Way IPA collaborations are the same. \nThis year\, Mirage\, Sunriver Brewing\, and Fort George embark on an incredible journey — scaling the cliffs of flavor\, fording rivers of hops\, and crossing fragrant meadows of delicious malt to bring home the perfect West Coast IPA. Brewed with Krush (formerly HBC 586)\, Waimea\, and Nelson hops\, 2025’s 3-Way IPA is a summer beer for summer. We’ll be back to address that statement. … \nPeaks & Pints will host a release party for Fort George’s second 2023 3-Way IPA release Friday\, June 9. This year\, Fort George offers three unique versions\, each brewed with a distinct yeast. The first version brewed with London Tropics yeast from Berkeley Yeast in green cans landed at Peaks May 20\, the same day the brewery hosted their annual 3-Way release party\, Lupulin Ecstasy Festival. The second version\, brewed with Kölsch yeast (Kaiser German Ale yeast from Imperial Yeast) in purple-ish cans\, will hit Peaks’ Western red cedar tap log Friday for the release party. The final version brewed with Hazy Chico DF yeast from Berkeley Yeast will arrive later this month. Again\, the 3-Way Version 2 is a West Coast style IPA brewed with Kölsch yeast. \nFort George has brewed 3-Way IPA since 2013\, featuring two different craft brewery collaborators every year. The Tacoma Proctor District and South Hill Puyallup bottle shops will also have very limited 3-Way cans. \nAstoria’s Fort George Brewery has brewed 3-Way IPA since 2013\, featuring two different craft brewery collaborators every year. This year\, Bellingham’s Structures Brewing and Portland’s Level Beer Co. shared ideas and techniques with Chris Nemlowill of Fort George\, and after a few beta batches — the final 2020 Fort George 3-Way IPA hits the South Sound Friday. Peaks & Pints and Rainier Growlers grabbed early tastes and we’re happy to report its one of the best 3-Ways yet. Built on a foundation of Pilsner malt\, spelt\, and flaked oats\, plus dry hopped with ridiculous levels of Simcoe\, Azacca\, Citra\, and Chinook hops\, this year’s 3-Way has a hazy\, fruity nose\, followed by crisp\, smooth\, citrus/grassy/melon/dank flavor. \nPeaks and Rainier will have 32-ounce and 64-ounce growler fills of 3-way\, with Rainier Growlers allowing social distancing seating and Peaks still a to-go operation. The two craft beer bars will also tap Structures easy-drinking Splash Pale Ale. Rainier Growlers will tap several Level beers\, including NW Pilot IPA #2 and I’m Not A Hazy\, I Just Crush A Lot IPA. Peaks will tap Level’s NW Pilot IPA #3 and Level’s social justice collaboration Black Is Beautiful imperial stout. \nThere is no admission fee for these two events. At Rainier Growlers\, you can fill crowlers and growlers\, take home cans of all three breweries\, or drink inside at social distant tables. DESCRIPTION:Fort George 3-Way IPA 2019 South Sound Release Party\nWhile summer days are great for lounging\, it’s the hot summer nights that will truly make memories. And nothing heats things up faster than a Fort George Brewery’s 3-Way release party. Peaks and Pints has been selected to host the Astoria brewery’s annual IPA collaboration release party for the South Sound Thursday\, June 20. How do we present such a coveted IPA to the region? Gotta have more washboard. \nTacoma’s punkgrass band The Rusty Cleavers will rattle the 3-Way pints and cans live during the release party at Peaks and Pints. \nFort George Brewery has brewed 3-Way IPA since 2013\, featuring two different craft brewery collaborators every year. This year\, Cloudburst Brewing and Ruse Brewing shared ideas and techniques with Fort George owner Chris Nemlowill\, then began releasing beta small batches in November 2018. The initial idea was to brew something in between a New England style hazy and a West Coast IPA — unfiltered with pilsner malt\, red wheat\, golden promise\, plus ample discussions about pH levels in the whirlpool and the amounts of each hop addition. Three hops were initially chosen — Cashmere\, Idaho 7\, and Citra. However\, they also hatched a plan to try out different dominant dry hops in each batch\, while also making minor adjustments to the rest of the recipe. \nYou’ll notice 3-Way IPA combines all of the fruit-forwardness of a hazy\, but with that classic touch of bitterness from a West Coast IPA as The Rusty Cleavers perform “Laundromat Boogie.” You’ll toast the band’s “Hit on Heaven” song as you enjoy the bright\, citrus fruit bomb that doesn’t finish too heavy or sweet. You’ll scream\, “THIS IPA DOESN’T HOLD BACK ON THE HOPS!” as the band launches into “Whiskey You’re the Devil.” \nBut the fun doesn’t stop there. You’ll return to Peaks and Pints down the road (The Rusty Cleavers cranking through your Airbuds) as Fort George will move past the first batches heavily dry hopped with Citra (notes of orange juice\, grapefruit zest\, and bitter lemon peel) and beginning release new batches with supporting hops taking a starring dry-hop role.
