SUMMARY:Portland Cider Company One-Off Night
DESCRIPTION:Portland Cider Company One-Off Night\nLynda\, an expatriate from the Somerset region of England\, aka the Mecca of cider\, married Oregon native Jeff and the duo opened Portland Cider Company in 2012 with the mission of making cider handcrafted in the English tradition using fresh pressed juice from 100 percent Northwest grown apples. With production in Clackamas\, Oregon\, and its Portland Cider House in Portland’s Hawthorne District\, Portland Cider Co. was the first cidery to become members of the Oregon Brewshed Alliance\, an outreach initiative of Oregon Wild that is comprised of a coalition of Oregon craft beverage producers with a common goal to protect Oregon wetlands. \nThat’s all fine and dandy\, but let’s get to drinking. Peaks and Pints will host Portland Cider Co. at 6 p.m. Thursday\, July 12 featuring the cidery’s limited release\, one-off ciders\, including Fever Bark Tonic with whole juniper berries and cinchona bark\, reminiscent of a classic Gin & Tonic. \nPORTLAND CIDER COMPANY ONE-OFF NIGHT\, 6-8 p.m.\, Thursday\, July 12\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:The Adventures of Backwoods and Brothers Cascadia
DESCRIPTION:The plot of The Adventures of Backwoods and Brothers Cascadia tells the story of two Columbia Gorge-ish breweries attempting to emancipate themselves. For one collaborative beer\, Backwoods Brewing Co. and Brothers Cascadia Brewing Co. desire to break free from the haze\, both physical and mental. Much of the conflict in the Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting featuring the two breweries stems from Backwoods and Brothers Cascadia’s attempt to embrace their classical training and brew a traditional Northwest style India Pale Ale then deal with their success. Their collaborative beer\, Out of the Haze IPA\, has turned society’s heads with its clarity\, as well as the amazing hop bill of Simcoe\, El Dorado\, Citra and Mosaic hops for all the fruit flavors with a slightly bitter finish. The story ends with the two breweries taping their other craft beers and the Peaks and Pints patrons weeping with joy. \nTHE ADVENTURES OF BACKWOODS AND BROTHERS CASCADIA\, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday\, July 11\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Golden Road Booboolala Tortoises
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Golden Road Booboolala Tortoises\nThe day is almost upon us\, yes\, the big day! Booboolala band’s first acoustic show! That’s right\, folks. The quintet will take its mix of pop-infused party funk\, backpack rap and new R&B anthems on the down low. \nBut\, what to pair with such a monumental event? \nGolden Road Brewing Co. beers! \nPeople travel to Los Angeles to see a number of things: Hollywood. High-speed chases. Breast implants. Beer. Yup\, the City of Angels has made huge golden inroads in beer\, including Golden Road Brewing\, which will party with Booboolala AND Drinking For Conservation at Peaks and Pints this Thursday\, July 5. \nGolden Road Brewing was founded in the L.A. suburb of Glendale in October 2011 with a focus on sustainability and community support. We’re tapping three of the brewery’s Cart beers — a series inspired by the iconic fruit cart vendors of Los Angeles. Mango Cart\, Melon Cart and Pineapple Cart are light\, refreshing wheat ales with lots of fresh mango\, melon and pineapple\, with a pleasant\, slightly tart finish. \nWe’ll also tap the brewery’s Wolf Pup Session IPA\, Right Said Red Ale\, GRB Blonde and our favorite\, Wolf Among Weeds\, a sticky icky weed-y double IPA where mild bitterness grips the tongue with orange peel fingers. \nAnd\, yes\, the awesome Suzanne and her Drinking For Conservation posse will be in the house helping save endangered radiated tortoises. From 6-9 p.m.\, 50 cents of every beer\, wine and cider sold on draft swill be donated to the Turtle Survival Alliance to help these amazing animals. \nLet’s see\, the boss is on vacation\, meaning there’s no need to actually show up on time to work Friday morning\, meaning the party train should continue to chug past the Fourth of July. \nEverybody all aboard! \nPEAKS AND PINTS GOLDEN ROAD BOOBOOLALA TORTOISES\, 6-9 p.m.\, Thursday\, July 5\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Fremont Brewing Pride Kolsch and Rusty Nail Lodge Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Fremont Brewing Pride Kolsch and Rusty Nail Lodge Meeting\nLong-time environmentalist\, community organizer and homebrewer Matt Lincecum brought his bank statement to a well-known real estate developer to lease space to his startup craft brewery in the middle of a recession in the “center of the universe” aka Seattle’s funky Fremont neighborhood. Apparently $10\,000 and awesome homebrewed beers CAN get you somewhere. In August 2009\, Lincecum kegged his first Fremont Brewing craft beer. Today\, Fremont is regarded as one of the best craft breweries in Seattle with distribution throughout the state\, as well as Oregon and Idaho. In addition to its reputation for consistent quality and innovation\, Fremont Brewing is a recognized leader in sustainable brewing operations and community engagement. \nPeaks and Pints is thrilled to host Fremont Brewing at our next Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday\, June 28. First on the Lodge Meeting’s agenda is Fremont’s Pride Kölsch — its German influenced beer brewed with 2-Row Pale malt and White Wheat balanced with Huell Melon and Loral hops resulting in a crisp\, refreshing summer taste with hints of melon\, berry and orange peel. \n“Our goal with Pride Kölsch is to stand up for the safety and self-determination of LGBTQ people and support the work of non-profits serving the LGBTQ community\,” stated Matt Lincecum\, in a statement. “Ultimately\, Pride Kölsch is all about love. A love for beer\, a love for each other\, and supporting and fighting for the indisputable right to love.” \nSpeaking of love — Peaks and Pints loves Fremont’s The Rusty Nail imperial stout. We’ll tap the 2017 and 2018 versions during our Lodge Meeting. For the uninitiated\, The Rusty Nail begins life as The First Nail\, an oatmeal stout with brewer’s licorice\, smoked barley and pale malt and aged on cinnamon bark. She becomes The Rusty Nail after spending 15 months in 12-year old bourbon barrels. \nOther Fremont craft beers on tap include a 2017 Dark Star Imperial Stout and 2017 Barrel Aged Dark Star Coffee and Head Full of Dynomite v4\, among others. \nFREMONT BREWING PRIDE KOLSCH AND RUSTY NAIL LODGE MEETING\, 6-8 p.m. Thursday\, June 28\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26theet.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Portland Beer Week with Rob Widmer
DESCRIPTION:Portland Beer Week with Rob Widmer \nThe seventh annual celebration of all things beery and beautiful in the Pacific Northwest\, Portland Beer Week is so big that a week is now 11 days — June 7-17 — and so sprawling that no one location could hope to contain it. Peaks and Pints plucked one of its favorite Portland breweries to showcase in our little lodge in Tacoma’s Proctor District: Widmer Brothers Brewing. \nThe now-legendary Widmer brothers\, founders of one of the first post-Prohibition breweries in Portland\, have maintained a legacy of innovation and success nearly unheard of among craft brewers. Their popular Hefeweizen is now a household name in the United States\, often credited with popularizing the style among American beer drinkers. \nPeaks and Pints decided not to tap Widmer’s beautiful unfiltered wheat at our Widmer Brothers Brewing Lodge Meeting Thursday\, June 14 (it’s in our cooler!)\, but rather showcase their recent craft — Thing #6 IPA\, LA Haze\, Hash Burst Pale Ale (Amarillo) and Mr. Sparkle Asian Lager — proving the Bros. can still brew amazing\, relevant beer after 34 years. \nOh\, by the way\, co-founder Rob Widmer will be in the house so bring your autograph book. \nEstablished in 1984 as Widmer Brewing Company\, Rob and Kurt Widmer’s joint venture boasted a 10-barrel brewery handcrafted from scraps. The brothers sifted through a library copy of Oregon Names in search of a name for their brewery. They decided to incorporate their last name only after a friend suggested they look around the world and see that most of the breweries with 100 years of heritage or more had family names on them. \nRob and Kurt opened for business near fellow fledgling brewery BridgePort\, after nine months of hard labor and ingenuity — with a little help from dad\, Ray. Their tanks came from a junkyard: remnants from a nuclear power plant that failed to get licensed. Mash tuns were hand-stirred\, 100-pound bags of grain heaved about by the brothers themselves. Distribution was a labor-intensive affair. Without a forklift\, the brothers loaded kegs onto a table\, from which they would toss the containers into the truck. Often\, Rob and Kurt made deliveries themselves\, loading kegs into their dad’s vintage Datsun truck — a vehicle they still bring out for special occasions. The Widmer brothers’ story in many ways parallels Ken Grossman’s hardships to launch Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. two years earlier. \nIf you walked into Widmer Brothers Brewing’s pub at 929 N. Russell St. in Portland today\, you’d see a menu board with 25 of their beer on tap\, including the four beers we’ll have on tap Thursday night. … \nWidmer Mr. Sparkle\n5% ABV\, 20 IBU \nWidmer teams up with neighbor Occidental Brewing on an Asian dry lager with calrose and flaked rice. The rice lager is brewed with 6-Row malt and a super low fermentation for a crisp\, clean finish. \nWidmer Hash Burst Pale Ale (Amarillo)\n65 ABV\, 40 IBU \nHop Hash bursts with Amarillo hops for a citrusy\, bright and balanced tropical pale ale. It’s a modern pale\, playing off peach and apricot while balancing a lighter\, less malty body. \nWidmer Thing #6\n5.5% ABV\, 60 IBU \nThing 6 is Widmer’s latest in the Portland brewery’s exploration of hazy IPA styles\, this time with an interplay between a different ale yeast and three hops with noticeably fruity flavors. The London Ale 1 yeast adds fruity esters as well as a noticeable minerality in the finish\, while the blend of three hops cuts though the yeast and protein haze to deliver a harmonious blend of fruit flavors. \nWidmer LA Haze\n6% ABV\, 60 IBU \nGalaxy hops are showcased on a fruity and juicy IPA — a bright citrus tang cuts through the hazy body of this beer and builds on the natural notes of orange and tart citrus. \nRub shoulders with craft pioneer Rob Widmer and drink his recent\, delicious beers at Peaks and Pints Thursday\, June 14. You’ll discover he brews other cloudy beers with the sunny taste. \nPORTLAND BEER WEEK WITH ROB WIDMER\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, June 14\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Procrastination with Lazy Boy Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Procrastination with Lazy Boy Brewing\nYou’re on the move. Constantly. Clearing your junk mail. Refilling the stapler. Changing your voicemail message. Retweeting someone’s Twitter blip. You never pause for more than 30 seconds because why not take those tiny moments and\, well\, do more things? What else are you gonna do\, breathe? Feel? Merely … exist? And you take lots and lots of pictures of yourselves doing all the things because that’s what it takes to feel alive. \nIt’s time to stop and procrastinate. Get Lazy\, if you will. \nPeaks and Pints present Procrastination with Lazy Boy Brewing. Lazy Boy Brewing owner and brewmaster Shawn Lorin will slowly walk into Peaks and Pints at 5 p.m. Thursday\, June 7 at point to his beers on tap. \nTechnically\, Loring isn’t lazy. Far from it (we’re too lazy to make this an actual sentence). \n“The ‘Lazy Boy’ name first originated with some friends here in Seattle that I homebrewed with back in the early ’90s\,” says Loring. \nLoring’s talent for brewing beer was first noticed by Pike Place Brewing in 1992. Loring worked for the Seattle brewery until he moved to Denver to work at Wynkoop Brewing\, named after Edward Wanshear Wynkoop\, a founder of the city. Loring then helped open Medicine Bow Brewing in Cheyenne\, Wyoming. \nSee! Not lazy! \nLoring arrived back in Western Washington to brew for the Puyallup and Seattle RAM Brewery locations before moving on to Druids Brewing in Kent. \n“After Druids Brewing decided they didn’t want to brew anymore — a waste water issue — I decided to purchase the equipment\,” explains Loring. \nIn 2006\, fired up his newly purchased 15-barrel equipment to launch Lazy Boy Brewing to the cheers from his former homebrewing club and Western Washington. \n“My father in law was going through a divorce at the time living on Camano Island; myself in North Seattle\,” Loring says. “Everett seemed as good middle ground location for us. Plus\, there wasn’t 400 breweries in the area at the time.” \nThursday\, June 7\, Peaks and Pints will tap Lazy Boy’s Bavarian Hefeweizen\, Amber\, Norwegian Death Milk Stout (think Iron Horse Irish Death) and the new Hazy Boy IPA. \n“We brewed the Hazy Boy with copious amounts of flaked oats\, wheat\, lactose\, juicy New England style yeast from Imperial Yeast in Portland and generous amounts of Eldorado\, Amarillo\, Azacca and Citra hops were placed in the whirlpool addition\,” Loring adds. \nWander over to Peaks and Pints and procrastinate with Lazy Boy brewing. Maybe check it off your list. … Wait! \nPEAKS AND PINTS PROCRASTINATION WITH LAZY BOY BREWING\, 5-7 p.m. Thursday\, June 7\, peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Fort George 3-Way IPA 2018 South Sound Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Fort George 3-Way IPA 2018 South Sound Release Party\nAstoria’s Fort George Brewery has brewed 3-Way IPA since 2013\, featuring two different craft brewery collaborators every year. This year\, Holy Mountain Brewing Co. and Modern Times Beer shared ideas and techniques with Chris Nemlowill of Fort George Brewery\, and after 6.66 people brewed six batches\, presto(!) — the 2018 Fort George 3-Way IPA. Packed into 16-ounce cans\, exclusively for the Pacific Northwest\, this years 3-Way IPA was brewed with white wheat and flaked oats for an unfiltered brew\, pale in appearance\, combining a balanced juicy body\, superb lacing and an aroma of suspended ambient fruit and lupulin resonance. Aromatic and resinous\, 3-Way IPA reverberates with massive Simcoe\, Citra\, Comet and Ariana additions for all the grapefruit. \nPeaks and Pints will host the Fort George 3-Way IPA release party for the South Sound Tuesday\, June 5. In addition to the 3-Way\, expect other Fort George\, Modern Times and Holy Mountain craft beers on tap. \nFORT GEORGE 3-WAY IPA 2018 SOUTH SOUND RELEASE PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Tuesday\, June 5\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma no cover

SUMMARY:Rogue 10 Hop and 10 Jumbo Crayons Night Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Rogue 10 Hop and 10 Jumbo Crayons Night Tacoma\nPeaks and Pints will hold a Lodge Meeting with Rogue Ales & Spirits on the agenda — specifically the southern Oregon’s Hop Family series of IPAs new release\, Hop 10\, Thursday\, May 31. In addition to the 10 Hop and other Rogue Ales beers on tap\, peaks and Pints will host a coloring contest using Playskool’s 10 Jumbo Crayons set. \nIn May of 1989\, John Maier arrived in the small Oregon coastal town of Newport just in time to create Rogue Ales brew #1. Twenty-eight years and more than 20\,000 brews later\, Maier still rides his bike daily over the Yaquina Bay Bridge to the brewery where he continues to create innovative brews that have garnered international acclaim. One of the pioneers in the craft-brewing world\, Rogue consistently puts out award-winning beers year after year\, winning gold in national and international competitions. \nRogue grows its own hops on a 42-acre hopyard on the banks of the Willamette River in Independence\, Oregon. Each year\, Rogue Farms strings\, stakes\, trains\, trims\, separates\, sorts\, kilns\, cools and bales the hops it grows before sending them to the Rogue Brewery in Newport\, Oregon. Ten of the hops — Rogue Farms Liberty\, Newport\, Revolution\, Independent\, Freedom\, Rebel\, Yaquina\, Alluvial\, Adair and Keven — were thrown into the kettles while brewing this 10 percent ABV double IPA. \nROGUE 10 HOP AND 10 JUMBO CRAYONS NIGHT\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 31\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Seattle Beer Week Pop-Up: Shmaltz Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Since its establishment in 1996\, Shmaltz Brewing Company has gone from a Mission District\, San Francisco apartment operation\, where Jeremy Cowan brewed his first hundred cases of He’Brew Beer that he enlisted his mother to deliver\, to a massive brewery just north of Albany in Clifton Park\, New York\, with national distribution\, including Washington state. Cowan wears his Jewish heritage proud — from “schmaltz\,” which is Yiddish for “excessive sentimentality in art or music\,” to the beer being Kosher certified\, to the artwork and incorporation of Biblical Israel’s famous fruits and grains such as figs and pomegranates\, aka the “Seven Species\,” into the brews. Peaks and Pints is thrilled to host Shmaltz Brewing Company for a Seattle Beer Week Pop-Up Party. \nHere’s what we’re pouring from Shmaltz: \nShoebelation\n11.5% ABV \nShmaltz and Clown Shoes Beer teamed up for the most badass collaboration beer. Shmaltz blends its Jewbelation 11 with Clown Shoes Brewing’s Billionaire Barleywine in Wild Turkey bourbon barrels for more than two months. It kicks off with fruit notes from the barleywine\, with a mixture of bright American style fruit and deeper dried fruit reminiscent of English barleywines. The finish extends the English influence\, with a dark biscuity flavor of old ales\, probably contributed by the Jewbelation. It’s more of a strong ale\, but would pass as a quality barleywine\, too. It’s deep and flavorful. \nJewbelation 21\n12% ABV \nEvery year\, when Shmaltzs anniversary rolls around\, they release a new edition of their iconic Jewbelation Ale. However\, for their 21st anniversary\, they did something a little special. By using 10 malts and 11 hops\, they have redefined the strong ale. It hits the nose with dark fruit and notes of roasted malt\, toffee and earthy rye. Starts with dark fruit and roasted malt flavors with a smooth\, boozy mouthfeel. It finishes dry with toffee malt and earthy rye flavors as well as a boozy burn at the end. \nBittersweet Lenny’s RIPA on Rye\n10% ABV\, 85 IBU \nBittersweet Lenny’s R.I.P.A. on Rye IPA was brewed in honor of foul-mouthed comic Lenny Bruce’s death in 1966 with an obscene amount of malts and hops. Citrusy herbal hops\, caramel malt and tropical fruit fill the mouth. Finish is long\, huge and dry. \nSEATTLE BEER WEEK POP-UP: SHMALTZ BREWING\, 6-9 p.m.\, Wednesday\, May 16\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Seattle Beer Week Pop-Up: The Lost Abbey
DESCRIPTION:Seattle Beer Week Pop-Up: The Lost Abbey\nIn Illa Brettanomyces Nos Fides reads an eight-foot sign hanging over the entrance to the barrel room of The Lost Abbey in San Marcos\, Calif. It’s a Latin phrase that\, translated precisely\, means “in this place we have faith in British fungus.” Less literally\, it means “in wild yeast we believe\,” which is a fitting mantra for one of the most celebrated brewers of sour ales in the U.S. Inside the barrels contained in that room\, billions of yeast and bacteria cells are churning\, changing the liquid inside to sought-after sours such as Red Poppy and Cuvee de Tomme. Because Brettanomyces and other funky strains take so long to impart their most unique aspects onto a beer\, many of these barrels won’t see the light of day for years. \nToday marks the launch of Seattle Beer Week. More than 200 events are scheduled over 10 days\, including several “Pop-Up” happenings at Peaks and Pints. Today\, from opening and close\, Peaks and Pints presents Seattle Beer Week Pop-Up: The Lost Abbey with five of the California brewery’s craft beers on tap. \nNamed the Best Small Brewing Company in the world at the World Beer Cup when it opened in 2006\, The Lost Abbey has continued to excel\, especially the avant-garde\, Belgian-inspired The Lost Abbey component. Acclaimed master of barrel-aging Tomme Arthur crafts sour\, Brettanomyces-spiked\, and liquor-laced beers of mind-boggling diversity. Peaks and Pints will pour Tomme Arthur’s take on the Flanders red ale\, Red Poppy\, his bourbon barrel aged sour cherry Cuvee de Tomme\, his 2015 Angel’s Share barrel aged strong ale\, his 2016 Track 10 bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with cocoa nibs and coffee\, and his 2018 Serpent’s Stout\, an imperial stout with deep roasted malts\, cocoa\, coffee and a touch of vanilla. \nPeaks and Pints will host several Seattle Beer Week Pop-Up events featuring notable breweries visiting Western Washington during Seattle Beer Week’s 10-day run. \nSEATTLE BEER WEEK POP-UP: THE LOST ABBEY\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 10\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Cuatro de Mayo
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Cuatro de Mayo\nIt’s Cuatro de Mayo\, meaning it’s party time Senor Garth. The very best Cuatro de Drinko parties feature a live mariachi band\, dancing Chihuahuas and beer bongs made out of Saguaro cactuses. Peaks and Pints will offer one of those treasures — a live mariachi band at 4 p.m. today. Required Costume Elements: Sombreros (preferably on dogs leashed outside our Proctor District bottle shop) and ponchos. For the ladies it’s a great excuse to grow out the uni-brow in a hip nod to Frida Kahlo. But if you lack those features\, all that’s really needed is our Mexican lager beer flight and remember to say a little prayer for the feisty Mexicans who lost their lives May 5\, 1862 fighting an invading French army so we could get our drink on. \nPEAKS AND PINTS CUATRO DE MAYO\, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.\, Friday\, May 4\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Elysian Superfuzz Funkified Party Vol. 2
DESCRIPTION:Party people old enough to remember Tacoma’s legendary Superfuzz parties should be stoked to know Peaks and Pints will recreate the experience during its Elysian Superfuzz Funkified Party Vol. 2 Thursday\, May 3. It might be an annual party for Peaks and Pints\, but Superfuzz style music pumping through the bottle shop’s jukebox\, it might be the single best excuse to party if you do nothing else. \n“What I can say about these songs\, and all the songs I consider essential Superfuzz music\, is they are all an easy groove and rhythm to drink Elysian Brewing’s Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale\,” says Reece Wonio\, regional sales manager for the Seattle brewery. “They’re not that very straight disco beat — the emphasis is on the groove\, not just the beat.” \nSuperfuzz is not choppy\, like freestyle or abstract jazz. It’s not Latin\, salsa or merengue\, nor drum ’n’ bass or dubstep. It’s R&B-based\, mostly written\, arranged\, and produced by bands and artists that can perform these songs live\, as good or even better than the recording. \nJoin Elysian Brewing for the South Sound seasonal release and tasting of its Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale\, a mind-bending whirl of the aromas and flavors of blood orange and Northwest hops. Guests are encouraged to dress in funky Superfuzz attire while Peaks and Pints pumps Superfuzz through the jukebox. \nIn 1996\, the SuperSonics reached the NBA Finals\, Nirvana released “From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah\,” and Elysian Brewing Company poured its first beer in Seattle’s Capitol Hill. A lot has changed since\, but the beer is still flowing from Elysian\, 22 years later. Five years ago this month\, Elysian took an easygoing blend of Northwest Pale\, Munich and Dextri-pils malts\, Citra and Amarillo hop cones and a dusting of blood orange peel\, called it Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale and all was groovy. \nIn addition to Superfuzz\, other Elysian beers flowing from peaks and Pints’ western red cedar tap log will include Fuzzduster\, a blend of Space Dust and Superfuzz\, Kappa IPA and a couple one-offs. \nThis Orangesploitation will go down at 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 3\, in Peaks and Pints in Tacoma’s Proctor District. The funk riff on this thing will be letter-perfect. \nSnap city\, baby! \nELYSIAN SUPERFUZZ FUNKIFIED PARTY VOL. 2\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 3\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Barrel Mountain Brewing Lodge Meeting
DESCRIPTION:When you think of mountain cabins\, many things come to mind: wood\, saws\, wood\, ski hardware\, wood\, canoe oars and wood. In Battle Ground\, Washington\, there’s a mountain cabin motif brewery with all that goodness\, plus a chair made of ropes\, metal siding and a bit of Kentucky shabby chic. Not only did Barrel Mountain Brewing owner Troy Steigman bring the outdoors indoors to a former Laundromat\, but he also added a scratch kitchen\, well-equipped brewery and hired brewer Ryan Pearson\, formerly of Green Flash and La Quinta in Southern California. The beers reflect the expertise Pearson brings to the table\, with a variety of well-made styles. \nPeaks and Pints hosts Barrel Mountain Brewing at our Lodge Meeting Thursday\, April 16. SUMMARY:Dogfish Head Dragons & YumYums Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, April 19\, we’ll host a special SudsPop night inviting Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales to our little lodge for a pre Record Store Day celebration. Every year\, the Delaware brewery creates the official beer of Record Store Day; this year it’s Dragons & YumYums\, an intensely tropical — yet subtlety bitter — pale ale brewed with a combination of dragonfruit\, yumberry\, passionfruit\, pear juice and black carrot juice. Clocking in at 6.5 percent ABV and 25 IBU\, this one-of-its-kind music collaboration inspired Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne to write an original song about the beer … making this the first beer with its own theme song. We’ll be pouring Dragons & YumsYums — as well as 120 Minute IPA\, Alternative Take #7 Bourbon Barrel-Aged Palo Santo\, Romantic Chemistry IPA and a bunch of other Dogfish Head craft beers — from our Western red cedar tap log beginning at 6 p.m. \nEvery Dogfish Head beer ordered comes with a raffle ticket with a change to win an awesome Dogfish Head turntable\, which is on display at Peaks and Pints. In addition\, bring in receipts from vinyl purchases during the month of April for an extra chance to win the turntable. \nIn addition\, there will be plenty of Dogfish Head door prizes\, including vinyl records\, Music To Drink Beer To CDs\, free Record Store Day posters and more while supplies last. \nDogfish Head has also teamed up with Sony Legacy for a record collaboration\, called Music To Drink Beer & Make Love To. The vinyl compilation will be released on Record Store Day at retailers across the country\, as well as part of the raffle at Peaks and Pints April 19. Expect Flaming Lips tunes all night long. \nDOGFISH HEAD DRAGONS & YUMYUMS RELEASE PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 19\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

You bought lots of boxes of wine and stored them under the outside stairs to keep them cool. The next day you noticed a trail of empty cardboard boxes across the back garden leading to the creek behind. You decided to investigate\, thinking maybe someone was playing a joke. Then there came a deep low groan\, sounding like a very old man. If only. Instead you were confronted by a rather intoxicated brown Daddy bear\, who lunged as if line-dancing with his eyes closed. He missed you by a hair\, then swaggered down the creek. \nPeaks and Pints isn’t sure over-the-limit bear fresh out of hibernation drinking several litres of wine on an empty stomach stories is what Boldly Went Adventures podcast is looking for when they host a live taping session at Peaks and Pints at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday\, April 18. SUMMARY:Sipping Kulshan and Saving Salmon
DESCRIPTION:For the past couple years\, when a mention of Bellingham breweries awards comes up\, there’s always a discussion that starts with “Kulshan\, again?”\, but even though the rest of Bellingham’s growing craft beer scene is pretty damn awesome\, the stamp that Kulshan Brewing Co. has put on Bellingham can’t be denied. Forget about the beers — we all know there’s a loving spot in our hearts for Bastard Kat IPA\, Kitten Mittens Winter Ale and Sunnyland IPA — but it’s the outdoor seating\, dog hugging\, collaborations\, charitable contributions and community interaction that really sets the team at Kulshan apart from the rest. SUMMARY:Cheesy Flannel Fest Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Not every combination of two good things leads to another good thing. Tea\, for example\, is lovely\, and parties are fantastic\, but the Tea Party manages to ruin both. Sometimes\, though\, magic happens — and at the Peaks and Pints Cheesy Flannel Fest\, Maître Fromager Kris Blondin has found the sweet spot where beer and cheese put away their differences and come together. If you think wine is the only appropriate pairing for cheese\, then let Blondin\, the founder of former downtown Tacoma wine bar Vin Grotto and Tacoma Triangle District’s Stink Cheese + Meat\, enlighten you. She and Peaks and Pints cellarman Ron Swarner will pair artisan cheese from around the world with craft beer from the Columbia Gorge Saturday\, March 31 at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. From noon to 9 p.m. you may taste flights of cheese and beer\, including a Russian imperial stout paired with Fourme d’Ambert Terre Des Volcans artisan organic cheese\, Flanders blonde with Idiazabal smoked manchego\, Belgian-style dubbel paired with French mimolette and a kolsch with a French Comte Alpine cheese\, just to name a few. By the end of it\, you might never want to hit the (wine) bottle again. \nDon your favorite flannel and sip craft beer brewed by 54-40 Brewing Co.\, Backwoods Brewing Co.\, Double Mountain Brewery\, Everybody’s Brewing Co.\, Full Sail Brewing Co.\, pFriem Family Brewers and Walking Man Brewing Co. Although the pairings will be available all day\, meet and mingle with Blodin from 4-6 p.m. and discover why she thinks Everybody’s Local Logger pairs nicely with Pommier Brie or Full Sail’s Citurs Maximus Pale Ale rocks with Spanish Pata Cabra aged goat cheese. Flights of three cheeses/beers and five cheeses/beers will be available for purchase. \nProceeds from the Cheesy Flannel Fest will go toward Friends of the Columbia Gorge’s efforts to restore the damaged landscape cause by last summer’s Eagle Creek fire. Thousands of acres of the Columbia River Gorge were destroyed by the fire\, including numerous beloved hiking trails. Many trails are now hazardous minefields\, full of falling trees and rocks and eroding land. The Columbia Gorge breweries’ production was affected by the flames and smoke. Let’s gorge on artisan cheese and drink a river of craft beer in the name of the Columbia River Gorge wilderness. \nCHEESY FLANNEL FEST TACOMA\, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday\, March 31\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, donations accepted

SUMMARY:Iron Horse Brewery: Billy Meagor March Out Madness
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints will host Iron Horse Brewery at 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 15. In addition to enjoying the Ellensburg\, Washington brewery’s craft beer — including the new Send It Pale Ale — the night will be a farewell party for beloved Iron Horse sales executive Billy Meagor before he moves to Arizona to do the things. This is a huge hit for Washington state. Not only is Billy an exceptional salesperson\, he’s a swell guy. The question remains: how will Billy actually leave the party when so many people will want him to close Peaks and Pints that night. Here are a few scenarios how his exit might play out. … \nThe Irish Death Goodbye\nIron Horse’s Irish Death (7.8%) will be on tap March 15 at Peaks and Pints. The strong ale’s flavors of dark malts\, chocolate\, subtle raisin and prune\, caramel and slight molasses basically put the brewery on the map. It’s also one of the most popular craft beers in the state. Billy’s Irish Death Goodbye will consist on him pounding an Irish Death\, raising a glass to his job and leaving quietly out peaks and Pints’ back door without saying goodbye to anyone. \nThe Double Rainbow Departure\nAnother Iron Horse beer on tap March 15 will be Iron Horse’s Double Rainbow IPA (7%)\, an IPA-amber hybrid with a considerable dose of toffee\, bread and nutty flavors with some citrus and earthy hops. Billy might Double Rainbow Departure where he pounds a Double Rainbow IPA then leaves quietly out the back door without saying goodbye to anyone\, making it down the block before he realizes he forgot his Iron Horse coat inside\, stopping inside the front door because he won’t recall if he actually wore a coat that night\, then leaving again because he in fact forgot his coat in the Uber on the way over. \nSend It Send Off\nIron Horse’s new pale ale\, Send It\, is loaded with Citra and Comet hops for big citrus aroma and moderate bitterness. Billy will head toward Peaks and Pints’ jukebox with a Send It Pale in one hand and a thumbs up to the crowd as they yell\, Send it Billy!” Billy will head toward the door an hour later\, BUT will about face to rightfully claim ownership over the awesomeness that is Miley Cyrus’ “Send It On.” \nHand Cannon Abandon\nIron Horse’s Hand Cannon IPA hits the tongue with caramel and some sweetness with a touch of citrus pith. Billy’s Hand Cannon exit is the most likely scenario. When Kent Wetzler — craft specialist manager at Marine View Beverage\, a distributor of Iron Horse beer — leans in for his trademark firm handshake\, Billy will pull out a hand cannon and disappear in a puff of smoke. \nIRON HORSE BREWERY: BILLY MEAGOR MARCH OUT MADNESS\, 6p.m.\, Thursday\, March 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Pelican Brewing Helps Meet The Parents
DESCRIPTION:Pelican Brewing Helps Meet The Parents\nYou want everything to go well when introducing your parents to your significant other’s parents\, or at the very least to not descend into chaos. You and your significant other have everything stage-managed for success; your eccentric family should to be on their best behavior\, and his parents just have to show up at Peaks and Pints thirsty Tuesday\, March 6. The bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District hosts Pelican Brewing\, pouring the Oregon brewery’s new Beak Bender IPA\, an easy-drinking\, hop-forward IPA\, perfect for his father\, as well as pouring bottles of the brewery’s Mother of All Storms barleywine and Father of All Tsunamis imperial stout aged in rye whiskey barrels. If your father starts tell old Navy stories\, then Peaks and Pints will immediately tap Pelican’s Captain of the Coast barrel-aged wee heavy. \nYou\, your significant other and both sets of parents will be at the same table Tuesday night at Peaks and Pints. Everyone’s there\, which means nothing you say will be heard and nothing you hear will be complete enough to contain meaning. At some point your mom will send her sandwich back\, which will lead to a debate with your father about the definition of “too large.” Stay positive: in a situation of this magnitude\, that extra Pelican beer or two will go totally unnoticed. \nPELICAN BREWING HELPS MEET THE PARENTS\, 6 p.m. Tuesday\, March 6\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Deschutes Can Release Party
DESCRIPTION:They said it couldn’t be done. They said it shouldn’t be done. But it all worked out. \nGood beer comes in cans. \nYes\, bad beer comes in cans. There’s no denying it. But in recent years there’s been a canning revolution — a “canversion\,” if you will — among craft brewers. From the thickest stout to the bitterest IPA\, the range of delicious beers found in cans is growing by the day\, making shotgunning and days at the track that much more enjoyable. \nBeer purists freaked out when Dale Katechis started canning his craft beer in November 2002\, in a warehouse in back of his original Oskar Blues Grill & Brew joint in Lyons\, Colorado\, on a dinky machine that sealed one can at a time. \nWhat will people do today when Deschutes Brewery officially releases its cans\, including a 4 p.m. Deschutes Can Release Party at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Deschutes will release three cans: Fresh Squeezed IPA\, Pacific Wonderland Lager and Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Still freak out\, we imagine. \n“Cans of craft beer are meant to be brought along and cracked open wherever you need them — at a music festival\, after a killer ride\, on an epic paddle trip\, camping in the backcountry or hanging out at Peaks and Pints\,” says Norm Cartwright\, Deschutes’ sales executive for Washington state. \nIn addition to offering the three Deschutes cans\, Peaks and Pints will pour Deschutes beers from its Western red cedar tap log\, including the Bend brewery’s new Pear and Bergamot Sour Ale\, a kettle lacto soured beer with notes of pear and citrus with a floral aroma. \nDESCHUTES CAN RELEASE PARTY\, 4 p.m.\, Monday\, March 5\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Three Cheers For Three Magnets
DESCRIPTION:Three Magnets Brewing Co. is an appropriate name for the downtown Olympia brewery. Their strengths have pulled large crowds since their opening in November 2014. This list of proud accomplishments is long for Three Magnets owners Nate and Sara Reilly\, including the quality of the craft beer. The Reillys and their head brewer\, Jeff Stokes\, will be special guests at Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 1. Among the Three Magnets beers pouring at the Tacoma Proctor District bottle shop and taproom will be Howards Blend\, a blend of the brewery’s Major Tompkins Oatmeal Imperial Stout and our Russian Imperial Stout aged 13 months in bourbon barrels then blended. \nStokes\, a longtime homebrewer and bartender\, who was assistant brewer under head brewer Pat Jansen (Matchless Brewing) when Three Magnets opened — has always had one foot planted in bigger\, bolder beers such as Howards Blend\, a delicious imperial stout with flavors of thick chocolate\, vanilla\, booze and wood. This might come as a surprise since Three Magnets’ IPA cans disappear off shelves in hours. Stokes’ delicious Keep It Like Vic Secret imperial hazy IPA\, with its big soft apricot\, lemons\, toast and earthy base flavors\, will also be on tap March 1 at Peaks and Pints. \nHang out with Three Magnets\, drink and discuss their award-winning craft beers\, or maybe their love for soccer\, at Peaks and Pints. You won’t be able to pry away from their awesomeness. \nTHREE CHEERS FOR THREE MAGNETS\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Match 1\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Double Mountain Devil’s Cuvee Release Party Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:It’s common to see Peaks and Pints co-founder Ron Swarner clomping around the Proctor District bottle shop/taproom/restaurant in hiking boots and a Double Mountain Brewery T-shirt. When describing his vision for Peaks and Pints to his business partners Robby and Justin Peterson\, he’d always say\, “I want it to look like something straight out of Hood River\, Oregon.” Located just an hour outside of Portland\, the small\, outdoorsy town at the base of Mt. Hood is his dream place to retire.  Close to Portland\, quick access to great skiing and hiking\, and of course\, a great place for awesome craft beer\, especially Double Mountain Brewery. \nPeaks and Pints will host Double Mountain Brewery at our Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb. 22. Among the Double Mountain craft beers pouring will be Devil’s Cuvee\, an oak barrel aged version of the brewery’s Devil’s Kriek Belgian style sour ale with cherries.\n \nFounded on St. Patrick’s Day 2007\, Double Mountain has a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans.  Ever since then owner Matt Swihart (when not playing guitar in his band GreenNeck Daredevils) has worked hard to meet this mission\, focusing on uncompromising beer quality\, with ingredients such as two-row pilsner malts from British Columbia\, Belgian yeast strains\, fruit from Hood River orchards and Northwest hops. Famed for both their hoppy and sour fruit beers such as IRA\, Vaporizer and Devil’s Kriek as well as the brewpub in downtown Hood River’s awesome pizza\, family friendly atmosphere and live music\, Double Mountain has become a top Oregon destination. \nMaybe someday Swarner will spend his evenings at Double Mountain\, listening to Swihart’s vintage record collection while sipping on a Molten Lava Double IPA and enjoying a slice of Truffle Shuffle pizza after a day of boarding. Until then\, there’s this Thursday. \nDOUBLE MOUNTAIN DEVIL’S CUVEE RELEASE PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Feb. 22\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, BasecampProctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:2 Towns Ciderhouse: Pacific Pineapple Party at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, Feb. 15\, Peaks and Pints welcomes 2 Towns Ciderhouse to our Proctor District lodge tapping the Corvallis\, Oregon cidery’s new Pacific Pineapple full of intensely ripe\, real golden pineapple character. 2 Towns works directly with a supplier in Costa Rica striving for the tastiest pineapple for a cider that isn’t sugary sweet\, then fresh-pressing it with Northwest apples. In addition to the pineapple cider expect other 2 Towns delight pouring from our Western Red Cedar tap log. \n  \nIn late 2010\, Corvallis homebrewers Aaron Sarnoff-Wood and Lee Larsen filled a gap in the college town’s drinking scene — cider. The duo opened 2 Towns Ciderhouse crafting unique ciders brewed with the traditional English and French-style’s tannic apples\, Oregon grown\, of course. Named after the cities of Corvallis and Eugene (Larsen’s a Beaver; Sarnoff-Wood a Duck)\, 2 Towns believes “… that the long history of cidermaking demands respect and deserves to be done right\,” states the cidery’s motto. “Starting with the highest quality whole ingredients from local farms\, we take no shortcuts in crafting our ciders. We never add any sugar\, concentrates or artificial flavors\, and instead use slow\, cold fermentation methods to allow the fruit to speak for itself. As a family-owned company\, we are committed to the growth of our team and enrichment of our communities. We take pride in producing true Northwest craft cider.” \n  \nPlane tickets are costly. The white pants are in the closet. It’s time to escape with 2 Towns Ciderhouse. \n  \n2 TOWNS CIDERHOUSE: PACIFIC PINEAPPLE PARTY AT PEAKS AND PINTS\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb. 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover
