Despite naysayers who warned that cider apples required a maritime climate\, Craig also planted a two-acre test orchard with 25 varieties of cider apples. Today\, their two-acre experiment expanded into Cider View\, a 30-acre “high-density” cider orchard. In their commercial cidery\, Tieton Cider Works\, they blend American heritage\, English and French cider varietals with dessert apples to capture the best of what each variety brings to the bottle: sweetness\, acidity\, tannin and aroma. \nDragon’s Head Cider 9/10 \nWashington Gold Cider 9/11 \nFinnriver Farm & Cidery 9/12 \nd’s Wicked Cider 9/13 \nSeattle Cider Co. 9/14 \nIncline Cider Company 9/15 \nAlpenfire Cider 9/16 \nPEAKS AND PINTS WASHINGTON CIDER WEEK SOCIAL: TIETON\, 4-6 p.m.\, Sept. 9\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Revision Night at Peaks and Pints Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Revision Night at Peaks and Pints Tacoma\nJoin Peaks and Pints Wednesday\, Sept. 11\, as we host the hop attack of Revision Brewing. On this night\, we will host brewery founder Jeremy warren\, while pouring many of his craft beers\, including Beer Bong For M’Lady IIPA\, Skunkwerks and Separation Imperial Milk Stout. \nJeremy Warren is widely admired for his mastery of hops\, especially with his signature beer style\, India pale ale. In 2012\, his Knee Deep Brewing Co. exploded onto the scene when the brewery’s Hoptologist won the prestigious Bistro Double IPA competition in Hayward\, California\, besting the legendary Pliny the Elder\, among others. In 2015\, Warren left everyone knee deep in tears when he departed the brewery. In March 2017\, he and his head brewer\, Jeb Taylor\, opened Revision Brewing Company in Sparks\, Nevada. He began pounding taste buds with his lupulin-laden creations once again. \nThere is no admission fee for this event. All Revision beers will be priced individually by the glass\, although a flight will be available. You’ll probably cry with happiness. \nREVISION NIGHT AT PEAKS AND PINTS TACOMA\, 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Sept. 11\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Have A Cigar at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:Have A Cigar at Peaks and Pints\nJoin Peaks and Pints Thursday\, Sept. 12 as we host the official Tacoma debut of Cigar City Brewing Company. On this night\, we’ll tap all the Tampa Bay brewery’s available beers\, including Wedgecut Wheat and Humidor IPA\, their cedar-aged ale that grabbed a GABF gold medal in the Wood Aged Beer category. \nIn 2005\, founder and president of Cigar City Brewing\, Joseph “Joey” Redner\, knew Tampa Bay needed a local brewery to package and sell beer. He just didn’t know that it would be him opening it. Until\, he did. Redner received $850\,000 in start-up money to start the brewery\, incorporating in October 2007. Cigar City has been collecting accolades since their official inception in 2009\, including numerous appearances on RateBeer.com’s Top 10 Breweries Worldwide. Along with Oskar Blues Brewery\, Perrin Brewing\, Squatters Craft Beers and Wasatch Brewery\, Cigar City Brewing is a part of CANarchy\, a craft brewing collective that represents the largest canned craft beer supplier in the country. Luckily for us\, the Florida brewery is finally ready to enter the Tacoma market full time! \nThere is no admission fee for this event. All Cigar City beers will be priced individually by the glass\, plus a beer flight in 5 oz. tasting pours. \nHAVE A CIGAR AT PEAKS AND PINTS\, 6 p.m.\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Fly With Friendly Beer Guys
DESCRIPTION:Fly With Friendly Beer Guys\nIt was the French in the 1870s who made the first paper toys based on the idea of flight: paper and feather ornithopters\, fanciful helicopters\, balloons\, and eventually airships. French toy makers also offered one of the first models of the Wrights’ plane in 1908. \nSauvignon blanc is a green-skinned grape variety that originates from the Bordeaux region of France. The grape most likely gets its name from the French words sauvage (“wild”) and blanc (“white”) due to its early origins as an indigenous grape in South West France. \nThese two French inventions will collide at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 19 when Peaks and Pints hosts the release party for the Wingman Brewers and Airways Brewing Nelson Sauvin\, Sauvignon Blanc hazy double IPA collaboration — complete with paper airplane contest. Brewed with Nelson Sauvin hops\, the IPA receives a healthy addition of Sauvignon blanc wine grapes for a grape nose. We’ll also tap other craft delights from the two airplane-themed breweries. \nLadies and gentlemen\, the brewers have turned on the Fasten Seat Belt sign. If you haven’t already done so\, please stow your carry-into luggage underneath the barstools. Please take your seat and construct your paper airplanes. And also make sure your friend is in a full upright position. \nCheers! \nFLY WITH FRIENDLY BEER GUYS\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 19\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Elysian Pumpkin Road Show Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Elysian Pumpkin Road Show Tacoma\nDo you love pumpkin beer? Do you love a sweet\, malty\, gourd-based ale layered over with cinnamon\, clove\, nutmeg\, allspice\, ginger and maybe some honey? Would you wait up all night in a pumpkin patch with Linus and Lucy to taste a ginger pumpkin pilsner? Then\, you’ll be thrilled to hear the Elysian Pumpkin Road Show Tacoma returns to Peaks and Pints Thursday\, Sept. 26. \nDuring the Elysian Pumpkin Road Show at Peaks and Pints\, the Seattle brewery will serve pumpkin beer out of an actual hollowed-out giant pumpkin flowing through two taps\, orange spheres will fly through the air into Solo Red Cups and a giant jar of pumpkin seeds will wait for the best count guess. \nNo\, we do not mess around with autumn celebrations here at Peaks and Pints. \nThursday\, Peaks and Pints will host the third annual Elysian Pumpkin Road Show Tacoma\, a prefunk to the Seattle brewery’s grand pumpkin affair that includes 80-plus pumpkin beers Oct. 4-5 — the Elysian Great Pumpkin Beer Festival at the Seattle Center. Peaks and Pints will pour Elysian pumpkin beers Gourd Father pumpkin barleywine\, Hansel & Gretel Ginger Pumpkin Pilsner\, Old Fashioned orange pumpkin strong ale\, Punkuccino Coffee Pumpkin Ale and others. \nIn addition to the pumpkin beers\, we’ll present a pumpkin firkin\, pumpkin beer pong\, pumpkin seed guessing and giveaways\, including two pairs of tickets to the Great Pumpkin Beer Festival in Seattle. \nFall has long been the season of the gourd. Pumpkins are the stars of spice lattes; pie and farmers grow them so large that they’re no longer measured in pounds\, but in tons. But the simplest pleasure when it comes to the pumpkin is — cue Billy Corgan — drinking gobs of them from a pint. \nELYSIAN PUMPKIN ROAD SHOW TACOMA\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 26\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:The Lantern Lounge With Rogue
DESCRIPTION:The Lantern Lounge With Rogue\nTuesday\, Oct. 22\, Peaks and Pints presents “The Lantern Lounge\,” a night of beer potions and Prohibition-era music\, featuring Rogue Ales. \nEighty-five years ago\, America’s short-lived flirtation with a ban on alcohol came to an end. With no Prohibition\, gone was the thrill of secret passwords\, false storefronts and a bit of lawlessness. Tacoma’s newest so-called “speakeasy” doesn’t have any stupid rules. At The Lantern Lounge — opening and closing every Tuesday inside Peaks and Pints — there isn’t any secret phone number. No one will ask you for a password. And photos\, mercifully\, aren’t banned. Instead\, we’ll create a one-off Rogue beer cocktail with high-flying party music of the roaring ’20s \n“In harmony\, and yet individually\, the “Combat Squatch” cocktail of our Combat Wombat and BatSquatch works well while representing the things to love about both beers\,” says Richard N. Jamieson\, Jr.\, Southern/Eastern Washington Market manager for Rogue Ales. “On the nose\, you’ll receive all of the hop aromas from BatSquatch — big citrus\, and resinous; fruit flavors arrive mid-sip with notes of tangerine\, grapefruit\, and blood orange before finishing with citrus rind bitterness and sour beer funk\, a trademark of the Combat Wombat. It’s definitely a wild ride worth having.” \nWe’ll leave the light on for you\, although at a low level. You can leave your newfound gin appreciation at the door. \nTHE LANTERN LOUNGE WITH ROGUE\, 7-9 p.m.\, Tuesday\, Oct. 22\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover\, no password

SUMMARY:Brewshed IPA South Sound Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Brewshed IPA South Sound Release Party\nJoin Washington Wild at Peaks and Pints in Tacoma for the release of Bale Breaker Brewing Co.’s Brewshed® IPA — the fourth and final brew of the nonprofit’s 2019 quarterly charity beer series\, “From Peak to Pint\,” Tuesday\, Oct. 29. \nWild\, forested watersheds provide a natural filter that maintains high quality water — water that makes tasty downstream beer. That is what Washington Wild calls the Brewshed® Connection. Washington is home to critical habitat for endangered salmon\, which is why Bale Breaker teamed up with Roy Farms to brew a refreshing IPA using salmon-safe hops. \nPeaks and Pints will tap Bale Breaker’s Brewshed IPA\, as well as other Bale Breaker craft beers\, Oct. 29\, plus donate $1 per pint from all draft sales to help Washington Wild protect clean water\, the number one ingredient in beer\, from the top of the mountain to the bottom of your glass. Clean water equals better beer. \nSince 1979\, Washington Wild has played an invaluable role in permanently protecting nearly three million acres of Wilderness throughout Washington state. The Seattle-based nonprofit brings people together in the vigorous defense of our remaining wild forests\, waters\, and wildlife. By educating\, empowering\, and mobilizing our communities\, Washington Wild builds powerful grassroots networks that help protect wild lands and waters throughout the state. Learn more at www.wawild.org. \nJoin Washington Wild staff at Peaks and Pints to hear more about their statewide conservation work and raise a class to clean water! \nBREWSHED IPA SOUTH SOUND RELEASE PARTY\, 6-9 p.m. Tuesday\, Oct. 29\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Have A Heart Night
DESCRIPTION:Have A Heart Night\n“Hey buddy. You have a second?” Parkway Tavern Manager Sean Jackson asked\, motioning me over to one of the high-top tables by the Peaks and Pints coolers. \nJackson eyes were glossy\, which usually means he’s holding a Cantillon or some other crazy delicious lambic. \nNot this time. \n“I need your help\,” he choked out. “One of the baby girls in the neighborhood is in dire straits. I want to help raise money for her medical bills. You in?” \n“Yup\,” I replied really not needing any more explanation. \nJackson painted the tragic picture. Healthy\, active\, stubborn\, funny 12-year-old Ella was doing summer — volunteer camp counselor for Metro Parks\, swimming\, babysitting\, and hanging with sister\, Olivia\, enjoying The Office\, Billy Joel and their dogs. Mid-August she suddenly vomited. No symptoms; a diet change didn’t improve the situation. In fact\, it became worse. Her family history put her heart in the spotlight. After weeks and a steady line of shoulder shrugs by medical professionals\, an echocardiogram revealed she had severe heart failure\, dilated cardiomyopathy. She had been dying for weeks due to a lack of blood flow to her internal organs\, which all showed signs of damage. \nMary Bridge and Seattle Children’s Hospital summoned their best\, holding her Ella’s hand through procedures and surgeries many adults couldn’t handle. A second — yes second\, grueling open-heart surgery attaching another left ventricular assist device — happened a month ago in which Ella’s heart stopped for several minutes. The device allows her to function again\, even work math problems in a hospital school. \nToday\, Ella is waiting for her third surgery to receive a healthier hearty. Her parents have partnered with the non-profit Children’s Organ Transplant Association\, or COTA — experts at raising tax deductible funds to help pay for\, well\, life. COTA doesn’t take a portion of the donations; all donations go directly to the families they support to cover transplant related expenses. \nThe two blubbering beer dorks agreed to host simultaneous fundraisers\, partnering with craft breweries that have bigger hearts than their mash tuns. \n“Do you think Ben over at Rainier Growlers will want to help?” Jackson asked. \n“F@#% yeah\,” we said in unison \nIndeed\, Ben Chase is in\, joining the Parkway Tavern and Peaks & Pints at 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Oct. 30. The Parkway will tap a treasure from Georgetown Brewing\, Rainier Growlers will pour 7 Seas Brewing\, and Peaks & Pints will have Double Mountain Brewery flowing from our Western red cedar tap log. One hundred percent of the money will go toward Ella’s medical expense bills via COTA.

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Rocky Horror Pastry Stout
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Rocky Horror Pastry Stout\nIt this was a standardized test the question would be\, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show is to movies as (blank) is to craft beer.” The answer? Pastry stouts. Peaks and Pints will prove it so when we present our Halloween party\, “Rocky Horror Pastry Stout\,” beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Oct. 31. \nPeaks and Pints will screen the subtitle version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with the soundtrack on our 130-inch screen All Hallows’ Eve with many pastry stouts on tap. Enjoy delicious pastry stouts while watching the characters get into wacky kerfuffles and break out into song and dance. Indulge in The Bruery’s Coconut Macaroons Imperial Stout as you watch young Brad and Janet deal with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and stop at a creepy castle for a phone. Sip on a Modern Times’ Monsters Park Blackberry Cobbler as you witness the creepy castle’s party for the creation of super-hunk\, Rocky Horror\, by the evil transvestite scientist\, Dr. Furter. You’ll see Dr. Furter and his gang of humanoid aliens from planet Transsexual wreak havoc on the couple as you gulp down Great Divide’s S’mores Yeti. The rest is better experienced rather than read. \nThe Rocky Horror Picture Show is more than just a movie just as pastry stouts are more than just imperial stouts. The film has become a community and a safe space for viewers to congregate and participate in the singing\, dancing\, acting\, and dressing up in elaborate costumes. It is an opportunity to see oneself in a film; it provides a place for self-expression. Pastry stouts — decadent\, sticky\, high-alcohol\, highly sweet\, adjunct-heavy imperial stouts — are a delicious canvas for brewers to express themselves with lactose\, molasses\, vanilla\, cinnamon\, candied ginger and gingerbread cookies\, just to name a few ingredients. The cavity-forward stouts allow brewers to glam up their beers\, centered around fun\, around ostentatiousness\, madness and good times for all. The Rocky Horror Picture Show and pastry stouts deserve to be picked apart one delicious piece at a time. \nWARNING: Peaks and Pints Rocky Horror Pastry Stout is meant to be fun. We encourage costumes. If you choose to come as Brad\, you might be called an asshole. Also\, please don’t throw anything. Cheers! \nPEAKS AND PINTS ROCKY HORROR PASTRY STOUT\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Oct. 31\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Pray For Snow Party
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Pray For Snow Party\nSaturday\, Nov. 16\, Peaks and Pints will ask our guests to pray to the mythical Norse God of Snow\, Ullr. That’s not so odd; when you think about it\, as long-range forecasts are calling for a 40 percent probability Washington will see above-normal temperatures through February. 10 Barrel Brewing knows. The Bend\, Oregon-based brewery is hosting “Pray for Snow” parties at their brewpubs\, as well as hosting the Peaks and Pints Pray For Snow Party at 6 p.m. Nov. 16. In addition to a snowboard and skiing My Ninja Suit giveaways\, 10 Barrel will screen their Hold My Beer… winter sports film on Peaks’ 130-inch screen. Also\, 50 cents of every draft beer sold will benefit students at Gray Middle School. \nThe film follows professional snowboarders\, Curtis Ciszek\, Eric Jackson\, and a crew of friends while they chase snow all over North America with a healthy supply of beer in tow. From the steep peaks of Alaska to deep powder in the southern Rockies\, it’s a film that will get just about anyone stoked for winter. \nOne of the reasons for predicted warm conditions is the blob of unusually warm water in the Pacific Ocean. The blob may contribute to less snowpack this winter because the warmer air coming off the ocean can push freezing levels higher. That’s why we must pray while drinking 10 Barrel’s Pray For Snow Winter Ale! Expect other 10 Barrel brews on tap\, including special one-offs. \nFounded in 2006 by three guys in Bend\, 10 Barrel’s motto has always been brew beer\, drink beer\, and have fun doing it! They spend powder days getting face shots on the hill\, hot summer afternoons floating the Deschutes River\, and somehow still find the time to brew beer. \nThe Pray For Snow Party is also a fundraiser for Communities in Schools of Tacoma\, a local non-profit that provides additional resources to children and families in the Tacoma School District. As mention previously\, 50 cents of every tap pour from 6-9 p.m. will benefit Communities in Schools of Tacoma’s charitable efforts at Gray Middle School on South Tyler Street. \nPEAKS AND PINTS PRAY FOR SNOW PARTY\, 6-9 p.m.\, Saturday\, Nov. 16\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nCheck out the trailer below:
