SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints: A Barleywine Carol
DESCRIPTION:We all grew up with Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Whether we read the book\, watched the movies\, or caught a theatrical production of the age-old story\, a holiday season didn’t get by us without Ebeneezer Scrooge making an appearance. And whatever your preferred method of dosing on Dickens was\, it would be an injustice\, and probably land you on that weird jolly guy’s naughty list\, if you skipped A Barleywine Carol at Peaks and Pints in Tacoma’s Proctor District. OK\, the title is Peaks and Pints: A Barleywine Carol\, which is acceptable since it sure as hell isn’t Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. This musical version retains none of the literary classic than might reasonably be expected\, although it’s also accurate to state that a key ingredient of the novel — namely\, its humanist spirit — is largely present\, from the jolly crowd\, to the flights of Barleywine\, to the live bluegrass by Tacoma’s Barleywine Revue. \nPEAKS AND PINTS: A BARLEYWINE CAROL\, 7 p.m.\, Thursday\, Dec. 21\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:New Belgium Juicy Haze IPA Release Party
DESCRIPTION:New Belgium Brewing kicked off the new year with a new addition to the Voodoo Ranger family\, Juicy Haze IPA. This medium bodied\, unfiltered IPA is magic with tropical aromas and big citrus flavors from a delicious blend of Citra hops combined with Cascade\, Centennial\, Simcoe and Nugget. Peaks and Pints hosts the New Belgium Juicy Haze IPA Release Party\, as well as other craft delights from the Fort Collins\, Colorado brewery at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 18. \nKnown as New England IPA\, Northeast IPA or simply NEIPA (pronounced “neepa”)\, Juicy Haze IPA pulls out the softer\, juicier flavors hops release when added later in the brewing process. This is in contrast to West Coast IPA\, which gets its aggressively bitter\, piney taste from earlier hopping. \nPoured in a glass\, Juicy Haze IPA looks like sunshine through fog. Vibrant lemon\, orange\, guava and pineapple notes are balanced with a light grassy and caramel-like malt aroma giving the beer a sweet start that transitions into citrus zest\, herbal and pine with a smooth\, bitter flavor. \nThis is the fourth year-round member of the Voodoo Ranger family\, which New Belgium launched last year. The Voodoo Ranger family of beers also features Voodoo Ranger IPA\, which will also be on tap Thursday night at Peaks and Pints. Also expect to enjoy other New Belgium beauties including Felix Wild Ale\, 8 Hop Pale Ale and all the schwag. \nNEW BELGIUM HAZY LODGE MEETING\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan.18\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Oh Canada! Unibroue at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:Oh Canada! Unibroue at Peaks and Pints\nUnibroue has long set the standard for Belgian-style ales in Canada. Yeast is a large part of the story\, providing secondary in-bottle fermentation and contributing typical fruity and spicy flavors. \nPeaks and Pints will get our Unibroue on at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 25\, inviting the Quebec brewery to pour five beers at our weekly Lodge Meeting\, as well as raffle off all the schwag. Peaks and Pints’ kitchen manager Lindsay Giantvalley will prepare a special dish to pair with a Unibroue beer. \nUnibroue founders André Dion and Serge Racine took beer-brewing techniques used by Trappist monks of Belgium and brought them to North America. After acquiring La Brasserie Massawippi brewery in Lennoxville\, Quebec in 1990\, the Quebec team brewed their first abbey ale. A few years later\, they were shipping their beer internationally. Even after Sleeman purchased Unibroue in 2004\, and subsequently by Sapporo in 2006\, it has maintained the culture and flavor of a craft brewery. \nPEAKS AND PINTS LODGE MEETING WITH UNIBROUE\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 25\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nBelow is the Unibroue tap line-up. … \nUnibroue Blanche de Chambly\n5% ABV\, 10 IBU \nAn ode to a city in the southwestern region of Quebec\, Blanche de Chambly is not a traditional white beer. Pouring a light golden haze with a fine carbonation\, the nose gives a distinct sweet and sour aroma\, settled by a hint of coriander. The sweetness carries through to the taste with an additional yeast character\, a signature of Unibroue\, known for brewing beers on lees\, which means it’s rested on the residual yeast deposits\, fats and proteins that settle to the bottom of an aging vessel after secondary fermentation. \nUnibroue 25e Blonde de L’Enfer\n10.5% ABV\, 14 IBU \nLast year\, Unibroue celebrated its 25th anniversary\, offering its US fan base its own take on a classic style\, the Belgian strong golden ale. It’s a complex\, smooth ale with malty and citrusy flavors\, topped with a pale straw head. The subtle balance of spice\, malt and hop flavors\, combined with a fine\, champagne-like effervescence\, makes it an awesome beer for celebrations\, such as our Lodge Meeting with Unibroue. \nUnibroue Fin du Monde\n9% ABV\, 19 IBU \nThe name translates as “The End of The World.” If this beer is any indication of the end of the world\, bring on the apocalypse! This beer actually reminds us of the beach with the golden orange color providing the sunset\, the pineapple and nut aromas giving it a tropical nose\, and the strong alcoholic taste\, followed by sweetness\, completes the sense of drinking on the beach\, minus the cocktail and the mini-umbrella. Even with its tropical vibes\, La Fin du Monde upholds its light Belgian character. \nUnibroue A Tout Le Monde\n4.5% ABV\, 22 IBU \nPeaks and Pints’ kitchen manager Lindsay Giantvalley arrives to Peaks and Pints first daily. She cranks the kitchen radio and preps for the day\, listening to a wide range of music\, including the occasional metal. Currently\, her favorite beer gives nod to one of metal’s best\, Dave Mustaine. The frontman for Megadeth hangs with Unibroue Brewmaster Jerry Vietz. The two friends brewed À Tout Le Monde\, a refreshing and artisanal Belgian style dry hopped saison named after a hit single from the Youthanasia album\, the song was a departure from the traditional sound of thundering double kick drums\, amps on 11 and Mustaine’s angry “through-the-teeth” vocals. \nUnibroue Lune de Miel Honey Belgian Strong Ale\n8% ABV\, 22 IBU \nLune de Miel\, first brewed in 2016\, is an high ABV Belgian-style amber ale that is chock full of floral notes\, spices and a smooth honey character. The beer’s aroma and taste\, however leads in with a solid yeasty trait and gentle funk before those flowery and herbal notes join in — amplifying more as the beer warms in the glass. The honey lingers long into the lightly warming and drying finish of the medium bodied ale.

SUMMARY:Ballast Point Takes The Cake Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits brewed a nitro “golden” oatmeal stout. That’s clear? But it’s made with beets. So it’s red? OK. Duh. It obviously resembles a slice of red velvet cake with the foamy head of the nitro pour as the “icing\,” adding a creamy smoothness to the mouthfeel. \nRed Velvet Nitro Oatmeal Stout is definitely dessert in a glass dominated by chocolate with earthy notes of beets\, subtle wafts of roast cocoa and vanilla. And it’s definitely the focus of Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting with Ballast Point at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb. 1. \nIn addition to the unique golden oatmeal stout flavored with chocolate and colored with beet juice Peaks and Pints will pour other Ballast Point dessert beers Peanut Butter Victory at Sea\, Coconut Victory at Sea\, Mocha Marlin and Orange Vanilla Fathom. \nLet Ballast Point cake you away Feb. 1. \nBALLAST POINT TAKES THE CAKE TACOMA\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb.1\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow Tacoma\nA brewer of imperial IPAs\, Adam Robbings of Reuben’s Brews in Seattle shined a spotlight on triple IPAs in 2014 launching the Washington Hop Mob Mop Triple IPA Roadshow\, a series of triple IPA tasting events in Western Washington. The two-week event was a smash(ed) success. In 2015\, Kim and Kendall Jones\, the dynamic duo of the Washington Beer Blog\, Beer Church and 12 other beer-related hugs\, grabbed the hop by the brave new world and led Hop Mob down the road. The triple IPA celebration returns Feb. 1 with a 3 p.m. kickoff at Brouwer’s Café in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Thirty-two Washington state triples will be in the Café. Smaller triple IPA showcases — the Kendalls call them Roadshow events — will follow for nine days straight across Western Washington\, from Vancouver to Snohomish and over to Yakima. Peaks and Pints will host Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow Tacoma from 11 a.m. to 11p.m. Friday\, Feb. 3. \nBelieve it not\, Triple IPAs are style such a new style that most national competitions (including the Great American Beer Festival) have yet to recognize it as its own distinct category\, forcing most of the high-alcohol\, hopped-to-hell beers to compete under “Imperial/Double IPA” headers. But the actual line between a double and a triple IPA is amorphous at best. \nSome say that any IPA over 10 percent alcohol by volume should be considered a triple. Still\, beers that might fit the ABV and hop-burn requirements are still labeled as a double IPA\, leaving the term “triple IPA\,” at this point\, more of a marketing preference than an official style. \nWhat can be said is triple IPAs have outrageous amounts of dry hops\, hop flavor\, malt flavor\, alcohol and bitterness. The Triple IPA may be similar to a Double IPA in hop character\, but is differentiated from the style by a thick\, syrupy body accented by intense hop resins that make it a heavy sipping beer. Confused? \nWhat they are\, really\, is a chance to explore hop extremes and laugh at titles. Humonkulous. Insanity. Boom Boom Boom. Knock Three Times. And this is why Washington Hop Mob is still so vital\, so important. \nPeaks and Pints will tap eight triple IPAs during our Roadshow event: 7 Seas Brewing\, Backwoods Brewing\, Bale Breaker Brewing\, Georgetown Brewing\, Matchless Brewing/Triceratops Brewing collaboration\, Reuben’s Brews\, Sumerian Brewing and Wet Coast Brewing. \nWashington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow is a thrilling\, hilarious\, kaleidoscope of wayward\, brewing energy and excess; nothing you can ever do can prepare you for the onslaught. As it should be. As is the whole point\, really. \nFor more information on the Washington Hop Mob\, and to scan the other participating Roadshow venues\, visit wahopmob.com. \nWASHINGTON HOP MOB TRIPLE IPA ROADSHOW TACOMA\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday\, Feb. 2\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:10 Barrel\, Five Beers\, One Snowboard
DESCRIPTION:When twin brothers Chris and Jeremy Cox launched 10 Barrel Brewing Co.\, it was literally just the two of them and partner Garret Wales. They grew organically\, never dreaming of having 400-plus employees and having multiple locations and being in four states and growing when they moved from Portland to Bend to escape their corporate jobs and take a shot at buying and running a bar — Lucy’s Place\, which they renamed JC’s Bar & Grill. Their love for craft beer resulted in their small startup called Wildfire Brewing in 2006. The three dudes focused on selling their beers to local bars and restaurants. The first two beers in the lineup were Code 24 Pale Ale and Logger Lager\, followed by Backdraft IPA. In 2009\, Wildfire restaurants\, a chain of eateries with locations in Illinois\, Minnesota\, Virginia and Georgia\, forced the trio to change their brewery name — which they changed to 10 Barrel Brewing Company after their brewing system. \nA lot has happened since 2006 and Tuesday\, Feb. 6\, when 10 Barrel taps five beers at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. A lot. Drop by Peaks and hear all about the brewery’s history from 10 Barrel rep Conor while drinking the brewery’s special beers Barrel Aged Pray For Snow Winter Ale\, Blood Runs Cold Blood Orange IPA\, Krispy Cream Ale\, Dark Queen Dunkelweizen and Double Chocolate Stout on nitro. Bonus: A 10 Barrel snowboard will be raffled off! \n10 BARREL\, FIVE BEERS\, ONE SNOWBOARD\, 5 p.m.\, Tuesday\, Feb. 5\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Oakshire Brewing Lodge Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Last October\, Oakshire Brewing Co. celebrated 11 years of brewing beer in Eugene\, Oregon. Founders Jeff and Chris Althouse were the only employees\, brewing Original Amber on a four-barrel system under the moniker Willamette Brewery. The Althouses brewed 300 barrels that year\, far short of the 9\,000-plus barrels they and 23 employees brewed last year. In 2008\, Willamette Brewery became Oakshire Brewing. In 2013\, a canning line entered the picture. In 2016\, Oakshire revamped and updated its branding. In 2017\, Dan Russo became lead brewer managing Oakshire’s collaborative production team of seven and overseeing the Pilot\, Vintage and Core Seasonal programs\, including the development of a series of fruited Open-fermented American Farmhouse Ales and four different offerings from their “kettle-soured” Sun Made Berliner Weisse line up. Thursday\, Feb. 8 2018\, Oakshire will be the guest host at Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting\, releasing its Heart Shaped Box\, a barrel-aged imperial stout aged on coffee\, cocao nibs\, vanilla beans and Bing cherries. In addition to the candy bar beer\, Peaks and Pints will pour Oakshire’s Watershed IPA\, Sun Made Blackberry Berliner Weisse and Schwarzbier. \nOAKSHIRE BREWING LODGE MEETING\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb. 7\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Valentine’s Night with Kristen Marlo and Georgetown Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Bartenders and musicians have a lot in common. Both groups are always the focus of everyone’s attention\, both deal with a lot of people who want something from them and both are known to put on a show. Kristen Marlo wears all that and black eyeliner. The longtime singer/songwriter also pours craft beer and cider at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. And\, while you’re smiling over her caricature of you she’ll chug your Georgetown Bodhizafa IPA and quip\, “You’re welcome.” Off shift\, off course. \nIt’s a mystery why Marlo doesn’t stomp on her bar towel and tour the states squashing the Norahs and the Avrils and the Vanessa Carltons and the Michelle Branches with her astounding vocal range and delirious songwriting prowess and soul-healing laughter. Then again\, Marlo wouldn’t be able to serenade all the Valentine’s Day lovers and haters at 6 p.m.\, Wednesday\, Feb. 14 at Peaks and Pints. She wouldn’t pour Georgetown Brewing’s Lisa’s The Sun Is Trying To Kill Me Chocolate Stout with 76 pounds of Theo Chocolate\, Georgetown’s 18lb Imperial Porter and other craft delights from the Seattle brewery that night. And\, the opportunity to prank Georgetown Brewing sales rep Garrett on Valentine’s Day would only be in her dreams (or nightmare for him). \nBut\, she’s all ours. Therefore\, you can enjoy all the Georgetown craft beer while Marlo’s magical music swirls around your head on the most Heart day of the year at Peaks and Pints. \n“You’re welcome.” \nVALENTINE’S NIGHT WITH KRISTEN MARLO AND GEORGETOWN BREWING\, 6 p.m.\, Wednesday\, Feb. 14\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nLINK: Singer-songwriter Kristen Marlo has a heart

SUMMARY:2 Towns Ciderhouse: Pacific Pineapple Party at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, Feb. 15\, Peaks and Pints welcomes 2 Towns Ciderhouse to our Proctor District lodge tapping the Corvallis\, Oregon cidery’s new Pacific Pineapple full of intensely ripe\, real golden pineapple character. 2 Towns works directly with a supplier in Costa Rica striving for the tastiest pineapple for a cider that isn’t sugary sweet\, then fresh-pressing it with Northwest apples. In addition to the pineapple cider expect other 2 Towns delight pouring from our Western Red Cedar tap log. \n  \nIn late 2010\, Corvallis homebrewers Aaron Sarnoff-Wood and Lee Larsen filled a gap in the college town’s drinking scene — cider. The duo opened 2 Towns Ciderhouse crafting unique ciders brewed with the traditional English and French-style’s tannic apples\, Oregon grown\, of course. Named after the cities of Corvallis and Eugene (Larsen’s a Beaver; Sarnoff-Wood a Duck)\, 2 Towns believes “… that the long history of cidermaking demands respect and deserves to be done right\,” states the cidery’s motto. “Starting with the highest quality whole ingredients from local farms\, we take no shortcuts in crafting our ciders. We never add any sugar\, concentrates or artificial flavors\, and instead use slow\, cold fermentation methods to allow the fruit to speak for itself. As a family-owned company\, we are committed to the growth of our team and enrichment of our communities. We take pride in producing true Northwest craft cider.” \n  \nPlane tickets are costly. The white pants are in the closet. It’s time to escape with 2 Towns Ciderhouse. \n  \n2 TOWNS CIDERHOUSE: PACIFIC PINEAPPLE PARTY AT PEAKS AND PINTS\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb. 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Double Mountain Devil’s Cuvee Release Party Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:It’s common to see Peaks and Pints co-founder Ron Swarner clomping around the Proctor District bottle shop/taproom/restaurant in hiking boots and a Double Mountain Brewery T-shirt. When describing his vision for Peaks and Pints to his business partners Robby and Justin Peterson\, he’d always say\, “I want it to look like something straight out of Hood River\, Oregon.” Located just an hour outside of Portland\, the small\, outdoorsy town at the base of Mt. Hood is his dream place to retire.  Close to Portland\, quick access to great skiing and hiking\, and of course\, a great place for awesome craft beer\, especially Double Mountain Brewery. \nPeaks and Pints will host Double Mountain Brewery at our Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday\, Feb. 22. Among the Double Mountain craft beers pouring will be Devil’s Cuvee\, an oak barrel aged version of the brewery’s Devil’s Kriek Belgian style sour ale with cherries.\n \nFounded on St. Patrick’s Day 2007\, Double Mountain has a clear mission: make great beer for craft beer fans.  Ever since then owner Matt Swihart (when not playing guitar in his band GreenNeck Daredevils) has worked hard to meet this mission\, focusing on uncompromising beer quality\, with ingredients such as two-row pilsner malts from British Columbia\, Belgian yeast strains\, fruit from Hood River orchards and Northwest hops. Famed for both their hoppy and sour fruit beers such as IRA\, Vaporizer and Devil’s Kriek as well as the brewpub in downtown Hood River’s awesome pizza\, family friendly atmosphere and live music\, Double Mountain has become a top Oregon destination. \nMaybe someday Swarner will spend his evenings at Double Mountain\, listening to Swihart’s vintage record collection while sipping on a Molten Lava Double IPA and enjoying a slice of Truffle Shuffle pizza after a day of boarding. Until then\, there’s this Thursday. \nDOUBLE MOUNTAIN DEVIL’S CUVEE RELEASE PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Feb. 22\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, BasecampProctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Three Cheers For Three Magnets
DESCRIPTION:Three Magnets Brewing Co. is an appropriate name for the downtown Olympia brewery. Their strengths have pulled large crowds since their opening in November 2014. This list of proud accomplishments is long for Three Magnets owners Nate and Sara Reilly\, including the quality of the craft beer. The Reillys and their head brewer\, Jeff Stokes\, will be special guests at Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 1. Among the Three Magnets beers pouring at the Tacoma Proctor District bottle shop and taproom will be Howards Blend\, a blend of the brewery’s Major Tompkins Oatmeal Imperial Stout and our Russian Imperial Stout aged 13 months in bourbon barrels then blended. \nStokes\, a longtime homebrewer and bartender\, who was assistant brewer under head brewer Pat Jansen (Matchless Brewing) when Three Magnets opened — has always had one foot planted in bigger\, bolder beers such as Howards Blend\, a delicious imperial stout with flavors of thick chocolate\, vanilla\, booze and wood. This might come as a surprise since Three Magnets’ IPA cans disappear off shelves in hours. Stokes’ delicious Keep It Like Vic Secret imperial hazy IPA\, with its big soft apricot\, lemons\, toast and earthy base flavors\, will also be on tap March 1 at Peaks and Pints. \nHang out with Three Magnets\, drink and discuss their award-winning craft beers\, or maybe their love for soccer\, at Peaks and Pints. You won’t be able to pry away from their awesomeness. \nTHREE CHEERS FOR THREE MAGNETS\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Match 1\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Deschutes Can Release Party
DESCRIPTION:They said it couldn’t be done. They said it shouldn’t be done. But it all worked out. \nGood beer comes in cans. \nYes\, bad beer comes in cans. There’s no denying it. But in recent years there’s been a canning revolution — a “canversion\,” if you will — among craft brewers. From the thickest stout to the bitterest IPA\, the range of delicious beers found in cans is growing by the day\, making shotgunning and days at the track that much more enjoyable. \nBeer purists freaked out when Dale Katechis started canning his craft beer in November 2002\, in a warehouse in back of his original Oskar Blues Grill & Brew joint in Lyons\, Colorado\, on a dinky machine that sealed one can at a time. \nWhat will people do today when Deschutes Brewery officially releases its cans\, including a 4 p.m. Deschutes Can Release Party at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Deschutes will release three cans: Fresh Squeezed IPA\, Pacific Wonderland Lager and Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Still freak out\, we imagine. \n“Cans of craft beer are meant to be brought along and cracked open wherever you need them — at a music festival\, after a killer ride\, on an epic paddle trip\, camping in the backcountry or hanging out at Peaks and Pints\,” says Norm Cartwright\, Deschutes’ sales executive for Washington state. \nIn addition to offering the three Deschutes cans\, Peaks and Pints will pour Deschutes beers from its Western red cedar tap log\, including the Bend brewery’s new Pear and Bergamot Sour Ale\, a kettle lacto soured beer with notes of pear and citrus with a floral aroma. \nDESCHUTES CAN RELEASE PARTY\, 4 p.m.\, Monday\, March 5\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Pelican Brewing Helps Meet The Parents
DESCRIPTION:Pelican Brewing Helps Meet The Parents\nYou want everything to go well when introducing your parents to your significant other’s parents\, or at the very least to not descend into chaos. You and your significant other have everything stage-managed for success; your eccentric family should to be on their best behavior\, and his parents just have to show up at Peaks and Pints thirsty Tuesday\, March 6. The bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District hosts Pelican Brewing\, pouring the Oregon brewery’s new Beak Bender IPA\, an easy-drinking\, hop-forward IPA\, perfect for his father\, as well as pouring bottles of the brewery’s Mother of All Storms barleywine and Father of All Tsunamis imperial stout aged in rye whiskey barrels. If your father starts tell old Navy stories\, then Peaks and Pints will immediately tap Pelican’s Captain of the Coast barrel-aged wee heavy. \nYou\, your significant other and both sets of parents will be at the same table Tuesday night at Peaks and Pints. Everyone’s there\, which means nothing you say will be heard and nothing you hear will be complete enough to contain meaning. SUMMARY:Iron Horse Brewery: Billy Meagor March Out Madness
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints will host Iron Horse Brewery at 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 15. In addition to enjoying the Ellensburg\, Washington brewery’s craft beer — including the new Send It Pale Ale — the night will be a farewell party for beloved Iron Horse sales executive Billy Meagor before he moves to Arizona to do the things. This is a huge hit for Washington state. Not only is Billy an exceptional salesperson\, he’s a swell guy. The question remains: how will Billy actually leave the party when so many people will want him to close Peaks and Pints that night. Here are a few scenarios how his exit might play out. … \nThe Irish Death Goodbye\nIron Horse’s Irish Death (7.8%) will be on tap March 15 at Peaks and Pints. The strong ale’s flavors of dark malts\, chocolate\, subtle raisin and prune\, caramel and slight molasses basically put the brewery on the map. It’s also one of the most popular craft beers in the state. Billy’s Irish Death Goodbye will consist on him pounding an Irish Death\, raising a glass to his job and leaving quietly out peaks and Pints’ back door without saying goodbye to anyone. \nThe Double Rainbow Departure\nAnother Iron Horse beer on tap March 15 will be Iron Horse’s Double Rainbow IPA (7%)\, an IPA-amber hybrid with a considerable dose of toffee\, bread and nutty flavors with some citrus and earthy hops. Billy might Double Rainbow Departure where he pounds a Double Rainbow IPA then leaves quietly out the back door without saying goodbye to anyone\, making it down the block before he realizes he forgot his Iron Horse coat inside\, stopping inside the front door because he won’t recall if he actually wore a coat that night\, then leaving again because he in fact forgot his coat in the Uber on the way over. \nSend It Send Off\nIron Horse’s new pale ale\, Send It\, is loaded with Citra and Comet hops for big citrus aroma and moderate bitterness. Billy will head toward Peaks and Pints’ jukebox with a Send It Pale in one hand and a thumbs up to the crowd as they yell\, Send it Billy!” Billy will head toward the door an hour later\, BUT will about face to rightfully claim ownership over the awesomeness that is Miley Cyrus’ “Send It On.” \nHand Cannon Abandon\nIron Horse’s Hand Cannon IPA hits the tongue with caramel and some sweetness with a touch of citrus pith. Billy’s Hand Cannon exit is the most likely scenario. When Kent Wetzler — craft specialist manager at Marine View Beverage\, a distributor of Iron Horse beer — leans in for his trademark firm handshake\, Billy will pull out a hand cannon and disappear in a puff of smoke. \nIRON HORSE BREWERY: BILLY MEAGOR MARCH OUT MADNESS\, 6p.m.\, Thursday\, March 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Ladies of the South Sound Pink Boot Collab 2018 Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Pink Boots Society is a nationwide nonprofit network of women whose livelihood comes from the making\, distributing and pouring of foamy malted beverages. Recently\, the South Sound chapter brewed Ladies Of The South Sound Pink Boots Collab 2018 at Pacific Brewing Company\, with the release party at 5 p.m. Tuesday\, March 20 at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. The nine women added Pilsner Malt from Skagit Valley Malting to the Ladies Of The South Sound Pink Boots Collab 2018 (5.8% ABV\, 40 IBU) giving it a crisp and clean finish. Flavor and aroma of pear\, citrus\, mango\, and hints of spice and pine needles come from loads of Azacca and Australian Ella hops. \nTo read the full story on the South Sound Pink Boots brew day\, click here. \nLADIES OF THE SOUTH SOUND PINK BOOTS COLLAB 2018 RELEASE PARTY\, 5 p.m.\, Tuesday\, March 20\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Cheesy Flannel Fest Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:Not every combination of two good things leads to another good thing. Tea\, for example\, is lovely\, and parties are fantastic\, but the Tea Party manages to ruin both. Sometimes\, though\, magic happens — and at the Peaks and Pints Cheesy Flannel Fest\, Maître Fromager Kris Blondin has found the sweet spot where beer and cheese put away their differences and come together. If you think wine is the only appropriate pairing for cheese\, then let Blondin\, the founder of former downtown Tacoma wine bar Vin Grotto and Tacoma Triangle District’s Stink Cheese + Meat\, enlighten you. She and Peaks and Pints cellarman Ron Swarner will pair artisan cheese from around the world with craft beer from the Columbia Gorge Saturday\, March 31 at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. From noon to 9 p.m. you may taste flights of cheese and beer\, including a Russian imperial stout paired with Fourme d’Ambert Terre Des Volcans artisan organic cheese\, Flanders blonde with Idiazabal smoked manchego\, Belgian-style dubbel paired with French mimolette and a kolsch with a French Comte Alpine cheese\, just to name a few. By the end of it\, you might never want to hit the (wine) bottle again. \nDon your favorite flannel and sip craft beer brewed by 54-40 Brewing Co.\, Backwoods Brewing Co.\, Double Mountain Brewery\, Everybody’s Brewing Co.\, Full Sail Brewing Co.\, pFriem Family Brewers and Walking Man Brewing Co. Although the pairings will be available all day\, meet and mingle with Blodin from 4-6 p.m. and discover why she thinks Everybody’s Local Logger pairs nicely with Pommier Brie or Full Sail’s Citurs Maximus Pale Ale rocks with Spanish Pata Cabra aged goat cheese. Flights of three cheeses/beers and five cheeses/beers will be available for purchase. \nProceeds from the Cheesy Flannel Fest will go toward Friends of the Columbia Gorge’s efforts to restore the damaged landscape cause by last summer’s Eagle Creek fire. Thousands of acres of the Columbia River Gorge were destroyed by the fire\, including numerous beloved hiking trails. Many trails are now hazardous minefields\, full of falling trees and rocks and eroding land. The Columbia Gorge breweries’ production was affected by the flames and smoke. Let’s gorge on artisan cheese and drink a river of craft beer in the name of the Columbia River Gorge wilderness. \nCHEESY FLANNEL FEST TACOMA\, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday\, March 31\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, donations accepted

DESCRIPTION:Mike Weksler\, Jack Houston and Paul Bastian had been pushing through Alameda Brewhouse’s exit doors with kegs of their Royale Brewing Co. SUMMARY:Sipping Kulshan and Saving Salmon
DESCRIPTION:For the past couple years\, when a mention of Bellingham breweries awards comes up\, there’s always a discussion that starts with “Kulshan\, again?”\, but even though the rest of Bellingham’s growing craft beer scene is pretty damn awesome\, the stamp that Kulshan Brewing Co. has put on Bellingham can’t be denied. Forget about the beers — we all know there’s a loving spot in our hearts for Bastard Kat IPA\, Kitten Mittens Winter Ale and Sunnyland IPA — but it’s the outdoor seating\, dog hugging\, collaborations\, charitable contributions and community interaction that really sets the team at Kulshan apart from the rest. And\, they are fun people. Really fun. \nPeaks and Pints hosts Kulshan Brewing Co. during our Lodge Meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday\, April 12. Pouring from our Western red cedar tap log will be five Kulshan craft beers: Premium Lager\, Sunnyland IPA\, Imperial IPA No. 3\, Transporter Porter and Coffee Milk Stout. Drinking for Conservation will be in the house; chatting up salmon conversation while Peaks and Pints donates 50 cents for every draft beer toward Save Our Wild Salmon organization. \nSIPPING KULSHAN AND SAVING SALMON\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, April12\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Tacoma! Boldly Went: Your Adventure Stories
DESCRIPTION:Tacoma! Boldly Went: Your Adventure Stories\nRemember that time at the end of that long ski season in Whistler when you wanted throw a chalet party? You bought lots of boxes of wine and stored them under the outside stairs to keep them cool. Then there came a deep low groan\, sounding like a very old man. If only. Instead you were confronted by a rather intoxicated brown Daddy bear\, who lunged as if line-dancing with his eyes closed. He missed you by a hair\, then swaggered down the creek. \nPeaks and Pints isn’t sure over-the-limit bear fresh out of hibernation drinking several litres of wine on an empty stomach stories is what Boldly Went Adventures podcast is looking for when they host a live taping session at Peaks and Pints at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday\, April 18. SUMMARY:Dogfish Head Dragons & YumYums Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, April 19\, we’ll host a special SudsPop night inviting Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales to our little lodge for a pre Record Store Day celebration. Every year\, the Delaware brewery creates the official beer of Record Store Day; this year it’s Dragons & YumYums\, an intensely tropical — yet subtlety bitter — pale ale brewed with a combination of dragonfruit\, yumberry\, passionfruit\, pear juice and black carrot juice. Clocking in at 6.5 percent ABV and 25 IBU\, this one-of-its-kind music collaboration inspired Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne to write an original song about the beer … making this the first beer with its own theme song. We’ll be pouring Dragons & YumsYums — as well as 120 Minute IPA\, Alternative Take #7 Bourbon Barrel-Aged Palo Santo\, Romantic Chemistry IPA and a bunch of other Dogfish Head craft beers — from our Western red cedar tap log beginning at 6 p.m. \nEvery Dogfish Head beer ordered comes with a raffle ticket with a change to win an awesome Dogfish Head turntable\, which is on display at Peaks and Pints. In addition\, bring in receipts from vinyl purchases during the month of April for an extra chance to win the turntable. \nIn addition\, there will be plenty of Dogfish Head door prizes\, including vinyl records\, Music To Drink Beer To CDs\, free Record Store Day posters and more while supplies last. \nDogfish Head has also teamed up with Sony Legacy for a record collaboration\, called Music To Drink Beer & Make Love To. The vinyl compilation will be released on Record Store Day at retailers across the country\, as well as part of the raffle at Peaks and Pints April 19. Expect Flaming Lips tunes all night long. \nDOGFISH HEAD DRAGONS & YUMYUMS RELEASE PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 19\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Barrel Mountain Brewing Lodge Meeting
DESCRIPTION:When you think of mountain cabins\, many things come to mind: wood\, saws\, wood\, ski hardware\, wood\, canoe oars and wood. In Battle Ground\, Washington\, there’s a mountain cabin motif brewery with all that goodness\, plus a chair made of ropes\, metal siding and a bit of Kentucky shabby chic. Not only did Barrel Mountain Brewing owner Troy Steigman bring the outdoors indoors to a former Laundromat\, but he also added a scratch kitchen\, well-equipped brewery and hired brewer Ryan Pearson\, formerly of Green Flash and La Quinta in Southern California. The beers reflect the expertise Pearson brings to the table\, with a variety of well-made styles. \nPeaks and Pints hosts Barrel Mountain Brewing at our Lodge Meeting Thursday\, April 16. On tap will be Washington Beer Awards Gold medal winning Luv Ya Lager\, Ash Cloud Amber\, No Bad Days IPA\, Trail Builder Imperial IPA and Smoked Vanilla Porter. SUMMARY:Elysian Superfuzz Funkified Party Vol. 2
DESCRIPTION:Party people old enough to remember Tacoma’s legendary Superfuzz parties should be stoked to know Peaks and Pints will recreate the experience during its Elysian Superfuzz Funkified Party Vol. 2 Thursday\, May 3. It might be an annual party for Peaks and Pints\, but Superfuzz style music pumping through the bottle shop’s jukebox\, it might be the single best excuse to party if you do nothing else. \n“What I can say about these songs\, and all the songs I consider essential Superfuzz music\, is they are all an easy groove and rhythm to drink Elysian Brewing’s Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale\,” says Reece Wonio\, regional sales manager for the Seattle brewery. “They’re not that very straight disco beat — the emphasis is on the groove\, not just the beat.” \nSuperfuzz is not choppy\, like freestyle or abstract jazz. It’s not Latin\, salsa or merengue\, nor drum ’n’ bass or dubstep. It’s R&B-based\, mostly written\, arranged\, and produced by bands and artists that can perform these songs live\, as good or even better than the recording. \nJoin Elysian Brewing for the South Sound seasonal release and tasting of its Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale\, a mind-bending whirl of the aromas and flavors of blood orange and Northwest hops. Guests are encouraged to dress in funky Superfuzz attire while Peaks and Pints pumps Superfuzz through the jukebox. \nIn 1996\, the SuperSonics reached the NBA Finals\, Nirvana released “From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah\,” and Elysian Brewing Company poured its first beer in Seattle’s Capitol Hill. A lot has changed since\, but the beer is still flowing from Elysian\, 22 years later. Five years ago this month\, Elysian took an easygoing blend of Northwest Pale\, Munich and Dextri-pils malts\, Citra and Amarillo hop cones and a dusting of blood orange peel\, called it Superfuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale and all was groovy. \nIn addition to Superfuzz\, other Elysian beers flowing from peaks and Pints’ western red cedar tap log will include Fuzzduster\, a blend of Space Dust and Superfuzz\, Kappa IPA and a couple one-offs. \nThis Orangesploitation will go down at 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 3\, in Peaks and Pints in Tacoma’s Proctor District. The funk riff on this thing will be letter-perfect. \nSnap city\, baby! \nELYSIAN SUPERFUZZ FUNKIFIED PARTY VOL. 2\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 3\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Cuatro de Mayo
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Cuatro de Mayo\nIt’s Cuatro de Mayo\, meaning it’s party time Senor Garth. The very best Cuatro de Drinko parties feature a live mariachi band\, dancing Chihuahuas and beer bongs made out of Saguaro cactuses. Peaks and Pints will offer one of those treasures — a live mariachi band at 4 p.m. today. Required Costume Elements: Sombreros (preferably on dogs leashed outside our Proctor District bottle shop) and ponchos. For the ladies it’s a great excuse to grow out the uni-brow in a hip nod to Frida Kahlo. But if you lack those features\, all that’s really needed is our Mexican lager beer flight and remember to say a little prayer for the feisty Mexicans who lost their lives May 5\, 1862 fighting an invading French army so we could get our drink on. \nPEAKS AND PINTS CUATRO DE MAYO\, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.\, Friday\, May 4\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover
