SUMMARY:Squeak and Squawk SudsPop
DESCRIPTION:We interrupt our regular SudsPop music and craft beer Monday nights to bring you a Squeak and Squawk listing party at 7 p.m. tonight. \nSqueak and Squawk is a five-day indie music festival in Tacoma that persists in spite of itself. Founded in 2008\, by Sean Alexander and Peter Lynn\, the form of having 10 shows — split between all-ages and 21+ — and populating the shows with eccentric acts that wouldn’t normally hit Tacoma\, was an intoxicating one. After two successful Squeak and Squawks\, the fest was getting ready to be put to rest\, when Adam McKinney and Jena Stedtler picked it up in 2012. \nAfter two consecutive years of Squeak and Squawk\, in 2012 and 2013\, McKinney and Stedtler collapsed\, exhausted\, and didn’t come out of hibernation until 2017\, reviving the festival for an upcoming run: June 22-26. This year\, they’ve assembled a typically weird and wonderful bunch of acts\, many of whom are featured on tonight’s playlist. The SudsPop playlist will feature some of the songs as far back as the inaugural fest\, while others are selections from this year’s crop of bands. There are also some aspirational choices — bands that would’ve fit Squeak and Squawk like a glove\, but were so drastically pricy as to cause instant heart burn for the festival programmer. \nIn any event\, this playlist should give some indication of what you’ll experience at this year’s Squeak and Squawk — a diverting group of oddballs with a song in their heart. Peaks and Pints will tap No-Li Brewhouse’s Slacker\, a craft beer brewed with orange peel and vanilla beans\, to accompany the Squeak and Squawk SudsPop tonight.

SUMMARY:Redhook Reads Tacoma
DESCRIPTION:A good rauchbier has a strong smokiness\, but you never forget you’re drinking a beer. A little smoke can go a long way. It’s an even tougher task for a brewer to make a smoked beer that’s based on a light-bodied golden ale or lager. Redhook Brewery’s small batch brewer Nick Crandell is well known for his venturesome\, sometimes whimsical\, beer recipes. He’s a brewer who’s not afraid to produce what even craft brewers consider offbeat\, like a collaboration Rauch Helles with Chuckanut Brewery\, which makes sense since both breweries have been in operation since the 1980s. The Rauch Helles captures the smoky flavors of a Rauch lager\, combined with the gentle and easy-to-drink Helles lager. Rauch Hells will from flow from our Western red cedar tap log as part of our Lodge Meeting with Redhook Brewery. Other Redhook brews on tap at peaks and Pints include Big Ballard Imperial IPA\, Bi-Coastal IPA and Salmon Safe Copperhook. One hundred percent of the sales of said Rauch Helles will be donated to the Tacoma Public Library. Friends of Tacoma Public Library advocacy group will be in the house chatting up books. \nREDHOOK READS TACOMA\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, May 25\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with Scuttlebutt Brewing
DESCRIPTION:If you’ve been waiting since the day you were born to drink Scuttlebutt Brewing Company craft beer\, this is your year: Everett’s renowned brewery turns 21 in July. If you’re already 21 you can enjoy Scuttlebutt craft beers a month earlier the June 1 Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting when Scuttlebutt dons the ceremonial robe and Grand Poobah hat as we pour the brewery’s beers from our Western red cedar tap log. \nFor those not into math\, Phil Bannan Sr. and his family founded Scuttlebutt Brewing in 1996. Family\, indeed. The family business\, which today employs about 75 people\, started with a homebrewing kit Bannan’s wife\, Cynthia\, bought him on Father’s Day in 1990. Cynthia eventually kicked him out of the kitchen and into a facility at the Port of Everett. They decided to name their brewery “Scuttlebutt” after Cynthia’s nickname bestowed upon by her father after her impending birth became the scuttlebutt of Naval Station Norfolk where he worked. Phil Bannan Jr. is the brewery’s general manager\, and he and his wife\, Mindy\, designed the taproom the recently opened taproom inside the production brewery in downtown Everett. For the last 16 years Matt Stromberg runs the brewing operations. Former Engine House No. 9 head brewer Doug Tiede sells the craft. \nIn addition to sweet giveaways\, the June 1 Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with Scuttlebutt Brewing will feature the brewery’s KEXP Transistor IPA\, Homeport Blonde\, Amber Ale and 20th Anniversary Russian Imperial Stout. \nLODGE MEETING WITH SCUTTLEBUTT BREWING\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday June 1\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Mountain Beer Fest
DESCRIPTION:Craft beer has always had an easy partnership with the outdoor adventure lifestyle (especially now that many of our favorite brews are in cans!). What better place to celebrate that pairing than the Proctor District\, Tacoma’s outdoor playground? The North Tacoma business district sits at a mighty 356 feet above sea level offering outdoor enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to work on agility by dodging speeding BMWs and reckless Mason Middle Schoolers\, mountain bike down the rocky\, pothole laden North 27th Street\, hang glide off towering Proctor Station and\, of course\, the annual cycling criterium through the streets of Proctor. \nPeaks and Pints had these and hundreds of other Proctor District outdoor opportunities in mind when we built our craft beer bottle shop\, taproom and sandwich lodge at the neighborhood’s highest elevation. As a thank you to the Proctor extreme athletes who patron Peaks and Pints we will host an all-day Mountain Beer Fest Saturday\, June 3. Craft beers and ciders from Mountain community breweries and cideries as well as mountain moniker brews will flow from our Western red cedar tap log and into keepsake Peaks and Pints Mountain Beer Fest glassware. Alaskan Brewing\, Alpine Beer\, Backwoods Brewing\, Deschutes Brewery\, Dru Bru\, Double Mountain Brewery\, Everybody’s Brewing\, Grand Teton Brewing\, Great Divide Brewing\, Tahoe Mountain Brewing and Two Beers Brewing are just a few that will trek up to Proctor for the day. \nAt 8 p.m.\, Tacoma bluegrass band Barleywine Revue will perform live inside our lodge performing their hits over the years\, including “Peaks and Pints\,” the song the band wrote specifically for us. \nPEAKS AND PINTS MOUNTAIN BEER FEST\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday\, June 3\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nLINK: Meet Backwoods Brewing Co. and its Gifford Pinchot Pilsner pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Holy Mountain and its The White Lodge wit pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Uinta Brewing Co. and its Cucumber Saison pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Dru Bru and its IPA pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest \nLINK: Meet Grand Teton Brewing and its American Sour pouring at the Mountain Beer Fest

SUMMARY:SudsPop: Jason Locking benefit
DESCRIPTION:Jason Kenneth Locking\, 1973 – 2017\nWith heavy hearts\, we at Peaks and Pints send our deepest condolences to Jason Locking’s “family.” Jason\, 44\, died peacefully in his sleep following a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer. The beloved Tacoma chef and musician played in several bands over the years\, including Gold Teeth\, Pioneers West\, NMVGPTS and\, most recently\, Old Foals. Shortly before his cancer diagnosis\, he was promoted to sous chef at Boka at Hotel 1000 in downtown Seattle. \nJason was true Tacoma. A friend of the city\, and hundreds of its denizens. He was one of the folks who helped make the city one of the coolest ’hoods in America. \nJason is survived by his mother Marilyn Locking\, the love of his life Jayme Fisher\, canine kids Stella and Duff\, his beloved bandmates\, and countless friends that he considered family. \nOn a personal note\,I had the distinct pleasure of documenting Jason’s musical career in the Weekly Volcano. I’ll always remember him from his Gold Teeth days when the guitarist joined fellow guitarist Dave Takata\, drummer Bob Lurvey\, bassist Sean Horst and singer\, and co-owner of The Red Hot\, Chris “Trashcan” Miller. That back rocked\, and drank a lot of beer. \nTacoma taprooms will host a week’s worth of benefits in support of the Locking family\, thanks to organizer Mike Bosold of Clicking Wholesale Distributing. SUMMARY:SudsPop: Squeak and Squawk Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Can’t wait until the 2017 Squeak and Squawk Music Festival? SUMMARY:Pelican Packing Party at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:When Ryan Rosen isn’t selling Dirty Bird IPA or Udder Tugger Milk Stout for Pelican Brewing Company based in Pacific City\, Oregon\, he spends the rest of his time trying to figure out the physical and mental limits of what he semi-jokingly calls extreme backpacking. He’s hiked all the big\, long trails — including completing the Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier in less than three days. He also knows how to pack the perfect backpack — whether it’s a day hike on the Thunder Creek Trail in the North Cascades or a 5-day excursion on foot along the Kettle Creek Trail in Eastern Washington. Rosen will combine both loves at the Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with Pelican Brewing Co. Thursday\, June 15. \nWhile you drink Pelican craft beers Five Fin Pilsner\, Dirty Bird IPA\, Udder Tugger Milk Stout and Father Of All Tsunamis Imperial Stout\, Rosen will demonstration how to pack a backpack for different hiking scenarios. Enjoy Father’s layers of spiciness\, vanilla and caramel coming from barrel aging and learn where to put Reynolds Oven Bags to keep your socks dry in wet weather. As Dirty Birds’ lengthy malt finish works your taste buds learn how to pack your boil-in-bag meals. \nNo\, Rosen didn’t grow up in the golden age of backpacking. The young buck requested there to be Beer Pong tables at his Pelican Packing Party at Peaks and Pints. And it will be so. \nPELICAN PACKING PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, June 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Skookum Brewery Lodge Meeting
DESCRIPTION:This is a real-life story of a brewery left for dead in the north Washington wilderness following an attack by noise-complaining\, rural residents. Clinging to the adage that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger\, the brewery found its inner strength. Five years after opening in 2007\, Skookum Brewery gave up its “Beer in the Woods” adage and moved from a rural road in Arlington to a location across the street from the Arlington Municipal Airport. Skookum could now extend its hours and whoop it up without town folk bearing pitchforks. Today\, everything Skookum does now\, it does big: big taproom\, big cribbage boards in said taproom and craft beers full of big flavor. The other big thing Skookum Brewery does is Peaks and Pints’ Lodge Meeting. Skookum will grab the gavel and podium for a night of Lodge announcements paired with Java Uncle Buckwheat Brown Ale\, Amber’s Hot Friend Red Ale\, Catch The Breeze IPA\, Pile-Up IPA and Vapour Trail IIPA. \nSKOOKUM BREWERY LODGE MEETING\, 6-9 p.m.\, Thursday\, June 22\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:North Jetty Brewing Beach Blanket Bingo
DESCRIPTION:The word “bingo” usually conjures up visions of nursing homes and church gymnasiums. But when “B” stands for “beer” and “N” is for “North Jetty Brewing Co.\,” and there’s surf music blasting from the jukebox\, it can only mean one thing: Beach Blanket Bingo with North Jetty Brewing Co. at Peaks and Pints. The Seaview\, Washington brewery rep Alexis Ferguson will shout out numbers while her craft beer pours during Peaks and Pints Lodge Meeting with the brewery at 6 p.m. Thursday\, June 29. Expect to enjoy Leadbetter Red\, Discovery Coast Stout\, Cape D IPA\, Lights Out Imperial IPA and Seaview Summer Ale. \nMichelle and Erik Svendsen\, wife and husband and brewers\, opened North Jetty Brewing at the Long Beach Peninsula more than three years ago. Gone are the 1.5 barrel system and limited distribution. Today\, the Svendsens brew on a 10-barrel system\, with beer distribution in 11 counties in Washington and Oregon. They bottle. They win awards. They shout out bingo numbers. And\, hopefully\, you walk away with prizes. \nNORTH JETTY BREWING BEACH BLANKET BINGO\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, June 29\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Hellbent Hodgepodge Humdinger
DESCRIPTION:May 30\, 2015\, Hellbent Brewing Company opened in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood. Our love affair with Hellbent began that day as we soaked in sunrays and IBUs sunk in a couch in the brewery’s back parking lot. Good times. It wasn’t until a sample bottle of Dang! Citra IPA made it to our 2016 Thanksgiving dinner that we pledged our undying love. The hops smacked the tryptophan with toasted caramel\, bright grapefruit and orange. Dang! It’s a cloudy\, full-flavored IPA. Our friends at Hellbent will drop by with a bag full of fresh ingredients and several of their craft beer delights at 6 p.m. Thursday\, July 6. That’s right\, we’ll infuse Hellbent’s Dang! with fresh ingredients via a Randall. \nHELLBENT HODGEPODGE HUMDINGER\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, July 6\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Modern Times LeisureLodge
DESCRIPTION:Maybe it’s because we grew up in a house where there was always some groovy Burt Bacharach hit on the record player\, but we dig anything from the ’60s. Founded in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego in 2013\, a consistent and modern aesthetic permeates everything they do. SUMMARY:Slaughter County Brewing walks Peaks and Pints’ planks
DESCRIPTION:When a pirate says Avast\, they’re trying to get your attention. You should pay attention to Slaughter County Brewing Co. in Port Orchard. Scott Kirvan’s spent 30 years homebrewing before opening his pirate-themed brewery in 2012. When he wasn’t developing software; he was brewing in his garage. After he sold his software company\, he took a few years off before diving into developing Slaughter County Brewing\, named after Kitsap County’s original name\, Slaughter County. He brews his craft beers with a beautiful view of Sinclair Inlet\, which separates his brewhouse from Bremerton. \nPeaks and Pints will pour four Slaughter County craft beers at 6 p.m. Thursday\, July 20. Kirvin will walk onto our 1940’s fir wood floor with his Gorst Pilsner Style Ale\, Midwest style Ol’ One Eye IPA\, Luna Negra Blackberry Wit and a firkin of Bondsmans Bitter ESB. \nPEAKS AND PINTS: Hey Scott! \nSCOTT KIRVIN: What? \nPEAKS AND PINTS: What’s a pirate’s favorite aspect of computational linguistics? \nKIRVIN: Hmmm … what? \nPEAKS AND PINTS: PARRRsing sentences. \nSLAUGHTER COUNTY BREWING LODGE MEETING\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, July 20\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints National IPA Day
DESCRIPTION:National IPA day is Aug. 3\, and at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District\, nine breweries will showcase their own version of the overhopped beer made famous for its resiliency during long sea voyages by ship. \nThe term “IPA” is an acronym for “India pale ale\,” and history suggests it originated in 19th-century England. In America\, the style is simply referred to as “IPA” and is most often brewed with domestic ingredients — particularly the hops\, a standard ingredient in beer that comes from the flower of the humulus lupulus plant\, which is technically a vegetable. \nWhat will be pouring from Peaks and Pints’ Western red cedar tap log? Expect to drink the following IPAs from 10-ounce and 16-ounce glassware: Fremont Brewing Head Full of Dynamite\, Green Flash Spanish Trampoline\, No-Li Big Juicy\, Two Beers Spruce Tip IPA\, Kulshan Bastard Kat\, Alpine Duet\, Georgetown Rocketman\, Boundary Bay Jackass Penguin and Iron Goat Impaler. \nPEAKS AND PINTS NATIONAL IPA DAY\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.\, Thursday\, Aug. 3\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Tacoma Beer Week: Brewed In The Gorge
DESCRIPTION:The craft beer lost weekend is a terrific thing. It’s the sort of perk that makes up for bottle shop long hours and destroyed hands\, at least for a few days. But times have changed since the halcyon hedonism of yore\, when Hunter S. Thompson — the most celebrated master of the fine art of spending a spell in a faraway locale\, imbibing and debauching — was staggering around\, weaving his half-remembered adventures into fabulist prose. Nowadays\, no one in his or her right mind jumps from brewery to brewery without an Uber ride. There’s a palpable button-down mentality that frowns on overindulgence. Peaks and Pints prefers zippers. \nWith Tacoma Beer Week going down Aug. 6-12\, 2017\, Peaks and Pints thinks its time to rehabilitate the lost weekend as art form\, but condense it down to a few hours. We’ll host five breweries along the Columbia River Gorge for a night of imbibing and debauching beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday\, Aug. 6. Walking Man Brewing\, Backwoods Brewing\, Everybody’s Brewing\, pFriem Family Brewers and Double Mountain Brewery will pour two of their craft to kick off the week-long craft beer celebration in the greater Tacoma area. \nFor more information on the five Columbia River Gorge breweries\, click here. \nTACOMA BEER WEEK: BREWED IN THE GORGE\, 6 p.m. Sunday\, Aug. 6\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th\, St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Tacoma Beer Week: The Hopnificent Seven
DESCRIPTION:The Hopnificent Seven\, a remake of the classic 1960 Western (itself a remake of the 1954 Japanese film The Seven Samurai ) comes with an all-star cast\, a wide-ranging arsenal of hops and some funny lines. Directed by Mike Bosold\, an award-wining shorts storyteller\, The Hopnificent Seven is a tale of primary hop additions and dry-hopping during Tacoma Beer Week. When roughians invade the mountain-themed Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant of Basecamp Proctor\, leaving just sours and malt heavy craft beers in their wake\, Click Wholesale Distributing brings in hop hunter Pacific Brewing and Malting Co. to take the roughians out and replenish the lodge with hop-heavy hitters. But Pacific Brewing needs help\, so they round up a diverse group of hopslingers (pFriem Family Brewers\, Double Mountain Brewery\, Fort George Brewery Pike Brewing\, Ecliptic Brewing\, Breakside Brewery and Reuben’s Brews). While it isn’t always clear why these craft breweries are risking their tanks to help the people of Basecamp Proctor\, their journey\, and the ultimate hop throwdown\, makes for enjoyable drinking. \nTHE HOPNIFICENT SEVEN\, 6 p.m. Monday\, Aug. 7\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Tacoma Beer Week: Thurston County Craft Bounty
DESCRIPTION:“It’s the water.” \nNo matter if you’re a beer drinker or not\, you’re likely familiar with the famed Olympia Beer motto of yesteryear. Whether describing the easy-to-drink suds that helped make the town famous\, the Bud Inlet that helps give it character and beauty\, the artesian wells that pump vitality into downtown\, or simply the constant drizzle\, there’s a reason “It’s the water\,” has outlived production of the iconic beer it was coined to sell. \nAfter all these years\, it’s still the water. And Thurston County’s beer roots run as deep as its famous artesian wells. In 1896 successful Montana brewer Leopold Schmidt opened the Capital Brewery after discovering the famous artesian water was ideal for brewing beer. Originally housed in a stackhouse in Tumwater\, and eventually renamed Olympia Brewery\, it was a significant player in the region’s sudsy brew movement. The brewery slogged through Prohibition during the early 20th century and ownership changes 50 years later. The brewery closed in 2003 when its parent company shuttered the Tumwater plant and moved the production operation to Irwindale\, California. In 1993\, Crayne and Mary Horton led a dozen Thurston County investors in opening Fish Brewing Company\, South Sound’s first craft brewery. It wasn’t until 15 years or so later that several Thurston County craft breweries followed Fish’s lead. \nPeaks and Pints will salute the craft breweries and cidery of Thurston County during the 2017 Tacoma Beer Week. Wednesday\, Aug. 9 we welcome Fish Brewing\, Three Magnets Brewing\, Top Rung Brewing\, Matchless Brewing\, Triceratops Brewing\, O-Town Brewing and Whitewood Cider. The brewers and staff from the breweries will be in the house with two kegs each. \nIt might be all about the water\, but these folks know how to use it. \nTACOMA BEER WEEK: THURSTON COUNTY CRAFT BOUNTY\, 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Aug. 9\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Tacoma Beer Week: National S’mores Day with Firestone Walker
DESCRIPTION:Growing up surrounded by vineyards and winemakers\, Adam Firestone (of Firestone Vineyard) always had an interest in combining the family business with beer making. He found the perfect business partner in his brother-in-law\, David Walker\, and the two founded Firestone Walker Brewing Company in 1996. In addition to winning gobs of medals for individual brews\, these obnoxiously talented brewers from Paso Robles\, California\, often take home the major hardware at competitions such as the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup — titles such as “Brewery of the Year” or “Brewer of the Year.” Peaks and Pints would be hard-pressed to think of a more deservedly decorated outfit to host during Tacoma Beer Week … on National S’mores Day! \nIn addition to our house s’mores dessert jars from Tacoma baker Auntie B’s\, we’ll sip decadent Firestone Walker treats such as Nitro Merlin milk stout\, 100% bourbon barrel aged Velvet Merkin imperial oatmeal stout\, Sucaba barleywine\, Stickee Monkey strong ale\, Bravo barrel aged imperial brown ale\, plus Leo v. Ursus: Adversus imperial IPA and other craft beers from the California brewery. \nTACOMA BEER WEEK: NATIONAL S’MORES DAY WITH FIRESTONE WALKER\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Aug. 10\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma no cover

SUMMARY:Tacoma Beer Week: Cans For A Cause
DESCRIPTION:Tacoma Beer Week begins Sunday\, Aug. 6\, and what better way to celebrate than by helping others. \nWith cans. \nIt may be warm and sunny outside\, but people are still starving right in our neighborhoods. Peaks and Pints\, 7 Seas Brewing\, Silver City Brewery\, No-Li Brewhouse\, Bale Breaker Brewing Co.\, Fish Tale Ales and Iron Horse Brewery host Tacoma Beer Week 2017 Cans For A Cause\, a week-long can food drive in support of the Rescue Mission. Beginning Aug. 6\, Peaks and Pints will host Tacoma Rescue Mission canned food bins awarding a raffle ticket for every five cans. Then\, at 5 p.m.\, Friday\, Aug 11\, Cans For A Cause throws on a party hat\, takes more can donations\, ices up craft beer cans from the aforementioned breweries\, and awards raffle prizes. \nWe know what you’re thinking: What might be an appropriate canned food for Tacoma Beer Week 2017 Cans For A Cause? \nCanned vegetables are always high on the wish lists. That doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Corn! Peppers! Onions! Seasoning! It’s fiesta time! \nBeans\, beans and more beans. Refried. Black. Pinto. Canned. Dried. Protein. Fiber. Tasty. You can donate a case to equal the price of fast-service DIY nachos. \nCheese sauce. It’s the bean’s best amigo\, and available in almost as many flavors: cheddar\, Ragu Double Cheddar\, zesty\, Monterey Jack\, nacho. \nIn all seriousness\, food banks have been struggling. Silly as these suggestions may be\, they’re a start. Rescue Mission need nonperishables that aren’t packaged in glass and haven’t been opened. Sources of protein and vegetables are always needed. Don’t just donate the crap that’s been sitting in your cabinets that you won’t eat. No one wants your 3-year-old can of pumpkin-pie filling any more than you do. Make sure what you’re donating hasn’t expired and is something you’d be willing to eat. \nTACOMA BEER WEEK: CANS FOR A CAUSE\, donate Aug. 6-11\, party at 5 p.m. Friday\, Aug. 11\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma\, every five cans equals one raffle ticket

SUMMARY:Tacoma Summer of Love Craft Beer Festival
DESCRIPTION:Tie dye\, LSD\, free love\, peace protests\, music and meditation. Five decades ago\, San Francisco became the center of counterculture\, and Peaks and Pints will celebrate the Summer of Love with Tacoma breweries Saturday\, Aug. 12\, one of many special events we have planned during Tacoma Beer Week Aug. 6-12\, 2017. Tacoma breweries will brew a special beer inspired by their favorite hippie songs of 1967 and we’ll pour them from our Western red cedar tap log while our jukebox pumps out what was heard squealing out windows from Hashbury lofts and bouncing out of radios in Carnaby Street clothing shops back during that special bohemian summer. Narrows Brewing Company will brew their take on “Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds” called “Tangerine Trees And Marmalade Skies.”  The brewers at Wingman Brewers are happy together so it only makes sense they’ll be brewing “Hoppy Together.” Harmon Brewery & Restaurant has flowers behind their ears and “Shandy Fields Forever” in a keg. Pacific Brewing & Malting Co. trips out with “White Rabbit\,” a witbier. Odd Otter Brewing Company will brew a white IPA called “Summer Ekuanot” heavy on Australian hops\, man. What will Tacoma Brewing Co. create? What will Tacoma Brewing Co. create? Several other Tacoma breweries will also join our full day of counter-culture brews fueled by music — far and away the thing that most baffled the straights and illuminated the believers during the Summer of Love. A specific taplist will follow soon. \nTACOMA SUMMER OF LOVE CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.\, Saturday\, Aug. 12\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Wingman S'mores Porter release party
DESCRIPTION:What happens when the owners of Wingman Brewers and Peaks and Pints gather around a campfire to toast their latest collaboration batch of Peaks and Pints Perfect Proctor Porter? Yes\, a mean game of Kick The Can\, but also a recipe development for their new collaboration\, S’mores Porter. \nChildhood memories in an adult beverage\, indeed: Wingman Brewers and Peaks and Pints will release S’mores Porter on draft and in cans at 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Sept. 6 at Peaks and Pints bottle shop\, taproom and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. \n“To refresh everyone’s memory\, s’mores are the tasty treats prepared for dessert around the campfire\, including roasted marshmallows and chocolate between two graham crackers\,” said Peter Brown\, Wingman Brewers lead brewer on the S’mores Porter. “I think this porter will turn out as delicious and drinkable.” \nBrown\, Wingman co-owner/sales director Daniel Heath and Peaks and Pints co-owner Ron Swarner brewed the first batch in July 2017\, singing campfire songs as they stirred Pale\, Chocolate\, Victory\, Black and Carafa Type 2 malts in the mash tun. As Cascade and Saaz hops boiled the three campers tossed in an endless stream of marshmallows and Honey Maid Graham Crackers. \nIn addition to draft\, S’mores Porter will be available in 12-ounce cans. Tacoma graphic artist Sam Dollar designed the can\, featuring caricatures of the three Peaks and Pints owners wilderness camping with Brown\, Thoburn and Heath. \n“It’s pretty awesome\,” added Robby Peterson\, the one who brings the beer to the campfire\, at least according to the can’s label. \nIn addition to pints and cans of Wingman’s S’mores Porter at the Sept. 6 release party\, Peaks and Pints will serve Tacoma’s Auntie B’s S’mores Jars\, the house dessert featuring chocolate cream\, ganache\, spiced cookie crumble and vanilla-honey kissed meringue. \nFor complete story on the Wingman Brewers / Peaks and Pints S’mores Porter\, click here. \nWINGMAN S’MORES PORTER RELEASE PARTY\, 6 p.m. Wednesday\, Sept. 6\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, (253) 328-5621

SUMMARY:2 Towns Ciderhouse: Autumn Of Our Eye
DESCRIPTION:2 Towns Ciderhouse: Autumn Of Our Eye\nThursday\, Sept. 7\, Peaks and Pints welcomes 2 Towns Ciderhouse to our Proctor District lodge tapping the Corvallis\, Oregon cidery’s fall deliciousness: Nice & Naughty Spiced Bad Apple and Hollow Jack. \nIn late 2010\, Corvallis homebrewers Aaron Sarnoff-Wood and Lee Larsen filled a gap in the college town’s drinking scene — cider. The duo opened 2 Towns Ciderhouse crafting unique ciders brewed with the traditional English and French-style’s tannic apples\, Oregon grown\, of course. Named after the cities of Corvallis and Eugene (Larsen’s a Beaver; Sarnoff-Wood a Duck)\, 2 Towns believes “… that the long history of cidermaking demands respect and deserves to be done right\,” states the cidery’s motto. “Starting with the highest quality whole ingredients from local farms\, we take no shortcuts in crafting our ciders. We never add any sugar\, concentrates or artificial flavors\, and instead use slow\, cold fermentation methods to allow the fruit to speak for itself. As a family-owned company\, we are committed to the growth of our team and enrichment of our communities. We take pride in producing true Northwest craft cider.” \nAt 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, Sept. 7\, 2 Towns’ Nice & Naughty Spiced Bad Apple and Hollow Jack will flow from our Western red cedar tap log. Crammed full of whole cinnamon\, nutmeg and clove\, Nice & Naughty doesn’t drink like 10.5 percent ABV. At a lower 6.4 percent\, Hollow Jack is far from empty\, with fresh-pressed apples\, caramelized pumpkin\, sweet potatoes and a dash of honey and spices. \nLabor Day is over. The white pants are in the closet. It’s time to ring in fall (OK\, it’s still blazing warm outside) with 2 Towns Ciderhouse. \n2 TOWNS CIDERHOUSE: AUTUMN OF OUR EYE\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, Sept. 7\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nSave
