SUMMARY:A Barleywine Carol
DESCRIPTION:A Barleywine Carol\nA mean-spirited\, miserly old man named Shaw Moore sits in his fire-suppression business on a frigid Dec. 22 night. His clerk is bored to tears because Moore refuses to spend money on barleywine and Christmas music. Moore’s nephew\, Scruggs\, pays his uncle a visit and invites him to “A Barleywine Carol” at Peaks & Pints Thursday\, Dec. 22. Moore reacts to his nephew’s invite visitors with bitterness and venom\, spitting out an angry “Bah barleywine and Christmas carols!” in response to his nephew’s “Merry Christmas!” \nLater that night in his dark\, cold apartment\, Moore receives a chilling visitation from the ghost of his dead partner\, Chuck Cranston\, followed by adventures with the ghosts of Christmas Barleywines Past\, Present\, and Future. Deeply moved and shedding tears of regret\, the final ghost returns Moore to his bed. \nThursday\, Dec. 22\, Moore awakes with joy for the chance to redeem himself and grateful that he has been returned in time to drink eight different barleywines on tap and hear beer and cider industry folks sing Christmas carols at Peak & Pints. He sends country ham and corn pudding to his clerk’s house and attends the 5 p.m. “A Barleywine Carol” party to the stifled surprise of the other guests. \nAs the years go by\, Moore holds true to his promise and honors barleywine and Christmas music with all his heart. \nA BARLEYWINE CAROL\, 5 p.m.\, Thursday\, Dec. 22\, Peaks & Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nLINK: Peaks & Pints cooler inventory

SUMMARY:Matchless and Kulshan release Cold Illumination IPA
DESCRIPTION:Matchless and Kulshan release Cold Illumination IPA\nIt’s going to be cold at Peaks & Pints on Dec. 20. Really cold. It’s true. The mercury will drop 15 degrees turning toes to ice\, numbing faces\, and ears will fall completely off\, and with blue\, chattering lips buried beneath nine layers of fleece\, people will say this is the absolute coldest they have ever felt in their entire lives\, despite the fact it will be 72 degrees inside Peaks & Pints on that Tuesday. You see Matchless Brewing and Kulshan Brewing have seen the light! And it’s cold. The two Washington breweries brewed Cold Illumination\, a cold IPA\, and will release it Dec. 20 at Peaks. \nDon’t worry. Matchless and Kulshan won’t give you a cold shoulder. They’ll be in the house with warm thoughts and slightly warmer beers from each of their breweries\, although those beers will also be mighty cold. \nCOLD ILLUMINATION IPA RELEASE PARTY\, 5-8 p.m. Tuesday\, Dec. 20\, Peaks & Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Torpedo Hunger with Sierra Nevada and Feed253
DESCRIPTION:Torpedo Hunger with Sierra Nevada and Feed253\nSierra Nevada Brewing Sales Executive R.J. Adler has received the blessing from Chico to aim Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo Extra IPA at feeding Tacomans in need via Feed253\, a 100 percent volunteer operated non-profit organization founded by Heidi Stoermer. We will be matching Peaks & Pint’s generous $2 per pint donations\, so you get to drink a great IPA for a great cause. Let’s ‘Torpedo Hunger’ as a community!” \nScan the QR Code on the Torpedo Hunger posters at Peaks & Pints and donate any amount to be entered into the drawing. \nPer Peaks & Pints\, the Dec. 15 Torpedo Hunger Party will satisfy enthusiasts of The Great Outdoors with a Sierra Nevada Tundra Yeti cooler and camp chairs as the drawing prizes. Adler from Sierra Nevada and Feed253 will be in house for the live drawing\, which starts at 6 p.m. \nRead the full story here. \nTORPEDO HUNGER\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. through Thursday\, Dec. 15\, drawing party at 6 p.m. Dec. 15\, Peaks & Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma \nLINK: Peaks & Pints cooler inventory

SUMMARY:Torpedo Hunger with Sierra Nevada and Feed253
DESCRIPTION:Torpedo Hunger with Sierra Nevada and Feed253\nSierra Nevada Brewing Sales Executive R.J. Adler has received the blessing from Chico to aim Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo Extra IPA at feeding Tacomans in need via Feed253\, a 100 percent volunteer operated non-profit organization founded by Heidi Stoermer. Peaks & Pints has tapped Torpedo Extra IPA for a week-long run with two dollars from every Torpedo pint poured at Peaks feeding Feed253 leading up to a Torpedo Hunger with live raffle at Peaks & Pints Thursday\, Dec. 15. \n“It’s exciting to receive a very limited amount of Torpedo draft in this market after so long\, and it’s even more exciting to bring it back for the benefit of a great\, local nonprofit like Feed253\,” says Adler\, a longtime Tacoman who recently was interviewed on the beer centric The Grit & Grain Podcast. “They work hard all year long\, but especially hard during the holidays.

SUMMARY:Tacoma Beer Week Bus Tour 2022
DESCRIPTION:Tacoma Beer Week Bus Tour 2022\nSean Jackson\, Ben Chase\, and I donned the biggest smiles as we gently stirred hops in a steam powered kettle while Alan Sprints watched. We were brewing the last batch of beer brewed at the famed Hair of the Dog Brewery in Portland\, Oregon\, before founder Sprints would close his brewhouse. It was an honor to brew on the same 4-barrel system where Sprints created Fred\, Adam\, and other historic beers. Our smiles enlarged when our kettlesession produced the Tacoma Beer Week Bus 2022 idea — a bus tour between the Parkway Tavern\, Rainier Growlers\, and Peaks & Pints\, our beer jobs\, respectively\, featuring “Alan” on tap\, as well as draft options from Stemma Brewing and Moonraker Brewing. Yes\, even though Sprints humbly argued against the name\, we appropriately named the hoppy Belgian style strong ale after the man who brewed big\, bold\, barrel-aged beers before the Pacific Northwest knew it wanted them. We can tell you’ll want “Alan” when you ride the bus Thursday\, Aug. 11 during Tacoma Beer Week. \nOur Hair of the Dog brewing experience maxed out our smiles when Bottleworks in Seattle\, Apex Beer Bar in Portland\, and longtime craft brewer/sales executive/spokesperson Kenny T. Beerman joined us at the brewery\, which became Sprints’ headquarters after he moved the original 1993 brewery near the Brooklyn rail yards in Southeast Portland. Fun fact: When Sprints wasn’t looking\, Beerman tossed an extra handful of Sultana hops into the kettle. After tasting “Alan” at Bottleworks last month\, if you love hops\, then you’ll appreciate Beerman’s extra effort. \nAdding Stemma and Moonraker into the Tacoma Beer Week Bus fold arose during our post brewing adventures around Portland. The two notable breweries aren’t readily available in the South Sound. The Parkway\, Rainier Growlers and Peaks & Pints will tap different Stemma and Moonraker beers next to “Alan” making each bus stop even more exciting. \nMore details on the bus route will arrive soon. \nTACOMA BEER WEEK BUS 2022\, 6-9 p.m.\, Thursday\, Aug. 11\, Parkway Tavern at 313 N. SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Spread The Jam 2022
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Spread The Jam 2022\nJams bands and craft beer have jammed together since the 1980s. Formed in the late 1960 but finding their jam in the ’80s\, performance-driven bands such as Phish and Widespread Panic have had rabidly loyal fans dedicating weeks\, months\, and years of their lives to the bands’ touring schedules. Meanwhile\, once the late 1980s and early 1990s rolled around\, a wave of American breweries and homebrewers supplied said fans with craft beer as folks who like jam band music tend to appreciate things that are unique\, carefully made\, and full of identity. The craft beer audience was composed\, generally\, of upper-middle-class drinkers who could afford to pay a couple extra dollars for specialty beer. Take these two markets\, add jams and preserves\, and you have Peaks and Pints Spread The Jam 2022. \nWednesday\, Aug. 10\, Peaks & Pints will combine a local jam maker\, pFriem Family Brewers fruited sour beers\, plus jam music into one glorious night during Tacoma Beer Week. Tumwater jam maker Ila’s Foods will be in the house with their jams and jellies\, including a selection to pair with beer. Our Western red cedar tap log will be consumed by notable fruit beers and fruited sours from the Hood River brewery. Last\, our jukebox will be loaded with bands that will stretch the minds of Spread the Jam participants — or\, as Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead might say\, the jukebox will take a song “for a walk in the woods” while craft beer and jam enthusiasts will definitely finish their fruit beers and jammy sandwiches before each jam song finishes. \nBaby\, it’s time to Spread the Jam! \nPEAKS AND PINTS SPREAD THE JAM 2022\, a Tacoma Beer week event\, 6-11 p.m. Wednesday\, Aug. 10\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover \nLINK: Peaks & Pints cooler inventory

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Beauty and the Beer
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Beauty and the Beer\nPeaks & Pints will host “Beauty and the Beer\,” a fundraiser for Hunt Middle School‘s Theater Department at 6 p.m. Monday\, Aug. 8\, as part of Tacoma Beer Week. \nAfter New York Times critic Frank Rich called the 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast that year’s “best musical … in any format\,” Michael Eisner (then at the peak of his power as Disney CEO) wasted little time turning this “tale as old as time” into the Mouse’s first Broadway blockbuster. Over the last two decades\, the story has been staged almost nonstop in theme parks\, touring houses\, and middle schools around the world\, including Hunt Middle School in Tacoma … hopefully. Hunt is worried it can’t pay the fee to let their student body perform and watch an arrogant nobleman turn into a beast and\, to break the spell\, try to win the love of the village girl\, Belle. \nEnter Peaks & Pints. We’ll donate a percentage of draft sales that night so the theater kids can present one of the most magical tales of all time. As a bonus\, local middle school instructors and musicians Rafe Wadleigh and Erina McLaren will perform Disney songs live while craft beer enthusiasts shed tears of joy into their beers. \nWill the Beast successfully woo Belle\, the small-town girl living in Hunt Middle School’s lonely turret? Or will he instead succumb to his roguish tendencies and spend the rest of eternity alone as a bison wandering the streets of Tacoma? No pressure\, Belle! NO PRESSURE\, BEER DRINKERS! \nPEAKS AND PINTS BEAUTY AND THE BEER\, a Tacoma Beer Week event\, 6 p.m.\, Monday\, Aug. 8\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, 21 and older\, no cover \nLINK: Peaks & Pints cooler inventory \nOriginal photo by Mooshuu from San Diego

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Pilsner Pop-up
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Pilsner Pop-up\nAlcohol is just water with some other stuff in it. When temperatures reach the low 90s\, you should drink as much alcohol as possible to ensure that you are both getting a lot of water into your system and having as much fun as possible. It’s efficient. It’s responsible. It’s basic common sense. It’s Peaks and Pints Pilsner Pop-up. \nPeaks & Pints is ready for some common sense. Monday\, June 27\, we’re pairing pilsners with air-conditioning all day. It’s the winningest combo since pork shoulder and dry rub. Let’s face it\, pilsners and air-conditioning belong together. Therefore\, to beat today’s ungodly heat\, we’re cranking our Dual X-2000 Air-Conditioning System to an 11 then tapping six pilsners. \nThe summer spell is cast. \nPEAKS AND PINTS PILSNER POP-UP\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.\, Monday\, June 27\, Peaks & Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover for air-conditioning \nLINK: Peaks & Pints cooler inventory

SUMMARY:Into The Haze with Kulshan Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Are you one of those people who posts comments online about how craft brewing is nothing but a hophead’s game\, and the real craft is in\, let’s say\, harnessing the banana-esque esters of a Bavarian weissbier? Well\, screw that because we’re tapping beers so cloudy\, they’re damn near meteorological. Kulshan Brewing has released their first year-round hazy\, Into The Haze\, and Peaks & Pints invites you to jump in Thursday\, June 9. We’re tapping Kulshan’s new hazy\, as well as other hazies and beers from the Bellingham Brewery. \nINTO THE HAZE WITH KULSHAN BREWING\, 6-8 p.m.\, Thursday\, June 9\, Peaks & Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Orval Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Orval Day 2022\nPlease visit Peaks and Pints as we join the top beer bars from across the globe in celebrating Orval Day 2022 Saturday\, May 21. Orval Day celebrates a global flavor touchstone\, a beer brewed within the walls of Belgian’s Notre Dame d’Orval monastery with a thousand-year history: Orval Trappist Ale. Intensely aromatic and dry\, this Belgian pale ale is as complex as it is unique. Orval is bottle conditioned with three different malts\, two types of hops\, and undergoes complex fermentation with multiple yeasts including Brettanomyces. Peaks & Pints will offer Orval bottles to drink inside our craft beer lodge\, or to take home. If you are celebrating at home follow these steps. First\, grab your beer-clean Orval chalice. Second\, gently pour until you have one centimeter of beer left in the bottle (per the instruction of the brewery). And last but not least\, bask in the glory of this unique\, Brett-y\, dry-hopped wonder of Belgian craftsmanship. By participating in this event\, you are also contributing to a great cause. On this day\, Orval distributor Merchant du Vin will be making a charitable donation to the National Forest Foundation. \nPEAKS AND PINTS ORVAL DAY 2022\, 11 a.m. to midnight\, Saturday\, May 21\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Friday The Firkinteenth
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Friday The Firkinteenth\nNobody really knows for sure where Friday the 13th originated. Some say it arose after Philip IV of France arrested hundreds of Knights Templar on Friday\, Oct. 13\, 1307. But most likely nobody figured out that date until the 20th century. Then Dan Brown popularized it in The DaVinci Code. Thanks\, buddy. Taylor Swift was born on the 13th and turned 13 on a Friday the 13th\, so it’s her lucky number! Squee! And\, Peaks & Pints taps a firkin every Friday the 13th\, which is this Friday. \nPeaks and Pints will host Friday The Firkinteenth at 5 p.m. Friday\, May 13 featuring Machine House Brewery walking underneath our ladder\, around our black cat and plopping a firkin on our bar counter for those lucky folks hanging with us on a unlucky night. \nPEAKS AND PINTS FRIDAY THE FIRKINTEENTH\, 5 p.m.\, Friday\, May 13\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover
