Ruggles’ nephew\, Tom Wilcher\, pays his uncle a visit and invites him to “A Barleywine Carol” at Peaks & Pints Wednesday\, Dec. 20. Ruggles reacts to his nephew’s invite visitors with bitterness and venom\, spitting out an angry “Bah barleywine and Christmas carols!” in response to his nephew’s “Merry Christmas!” \nLater that night in his dark\, cold apartment\, Ruggles receives a chilling visitation from the ghost of his dead partner\, Chuck Cranston\, followed by adventures with the ghosts of Christmas Barleywines Past\, Present\, and Future. Deeply moved and shedding tears of regret\, the final ghost returns Ruggles to his bed. \nWednesday\, Dec. 20\, Ruggles awakes with joy for the chance to redeem himself and grateful that he has been returned in time to drink eight different barleywines on tap at Peaks & Pints\, and possibly stay to hear beer industry veteran and Steeplejack Beer Sales Guru Tim Ensign chat with the Grit & Grain Podcast in Peaks’ Event Room at 4:30 p.m. He sends country ham and corn pudding to his clerk’s house and walks through Peaks’ door at 11 a.m. to the stifled surprise of the other guests. Johnson to merge outdoor skills with non-alcoholic beer. Friday\, Jan. 26\, folks from the WTA will join Sierra Nevada Sales Executive R.J. Adler and compass and map expert Johnson to celebrate the launch of Sierra Nevada Trail Pass IPA and Trail Pass Golden non-alcoholic options with an outdoor skills class\, summer hikes planning\, drinking NA beer and Sierra Nevada’s Hop Splash\, and possible win Sierra Nevada gear and trail passes. Peaks & Pints will also offer Sierra Nevada beer options — including Bigfoot Barleywine and Hop Bullet Magnum — on our Western red cedar tap log. \nTrail Pass IPA uses Amarillo\, Bravo\, CTZ\, Magnum\, and Cascade hops for an impactful IPA flavor and aroma and comes in at 35 IBU. Trail Pass Golden has a light\, crisp flavor with Centennial\, Cascade and Bravo hops\, and is an easy-going 15 IBU. Instead of removing alcohol after the brewing process\, both brews are made using traditional fermentation but with a yeast that produces low amounts of alcohol. Though more difficult to work with\, this process results in a higher-quality beverage more like traditional beer\, but with less than 0.5% ABV. \nJohnson will lead a free map and compass class in the Peaks & Pints Event Room as part of the night’s festivities. \nThe event also serves as a fundraiser for the WTA. DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Stoutula 2024\nAfter Count Dracula quarantined during the pandemic\, and his visitors dried up like the Mummy\, Dracula turned to stouts. From his secret lair in Ruston\, Stoutula\, as he is known today\, pounded stouts with the ferociousness of Van Helsing pounding stakes. He relied on beer delivery services in 2020 and 2021\, often draining the delivery person for sustenance. Since then\, he appears at Peaks & Pints before close loading up Campfire Crowlers with delicious\, often with chocolate flavored stouts from Peaks’ Western red cedar tap log. In his honor\, we are naming our annual February Stout Month after our new fierce friend\, Stoutula.
