SUMMARY:Ecliptic/Firestone Walker: Space Walker Tap Takeover
DESCRIPTION:Ecliptic/Firestone Walker: Space Walker Tap Takeover\nEcliptic Brewing picked Peaks and Pints to showcase their newest Cosmic Collaboration series\, “5 Beers for 5 Years\,” in which the Portland brewery collaborates with five other esteemed breweries to brew five celestial concoctions\, and then taking each collaboration on separate tours supported by tapped craft beer from both breweries. The first beer\, Tangerine Farmhouse Ale\, was a collaboration between Ecliptic and Brooklyn Brewery. Peaks and Pints tapped it and other beers from the two breweries April 1. Ecliptic’s Cosmic Collaboration continues with the next brewery in their “5 Years/5 Beers” series: Firestone Walker Brewing Company of Paso Robles\, California at peaks and Pints May 16. \nIn deciding what beer to brew\, both John Harris\, Ecliptic Brewing owner and brewmaster\, and Firestone Walker Brewmaster Matt Brynildson\, knew they wanted a big\, juicy beer. The result is a hazy double IPA brewed with pale malt\, wheat\, oats\, along with Idaho 7\, HBC 692\, and El Dorado hops. “I feel very honored to have Matt and Firestone Walker on board to help us commemorate our anniversary\,” Harris said in a media release. \nThursday\, May 16\, let’s aim the telescope at two iconic brewmasters’ craft\, drink the Galactic Hazy IIPA and other beers from the two breweries and toast Ecliptic’s fifth orbit around the sun while wearing futuristic motocross suits. \nCheers! \nECLIPTIC/FIRESTONE WALKER: SPACE WALKER TAP TAKEOVER\, 6-9 p.m. Thursday\, May 16\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints SudsPop with Ninkasi and Ben Fuller
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints SudsPop with Ninkasi and Ben Fuller\nPeaks and Pints will host Ninkasi Brewing’s Kevin Mann and Colin Corpe — two gentlemen who have had numerous experiences in the beer industry — for a history and state of craft beer as part of our SudsPop night Wednesday\, May 15. The night’s musical guest will be singer-songwriter Ben Fuller\, who happens to be a sales executive at Ninkasi\, too. \n1800 B.C. (approximate) The first ode to beer\, “Hymn to Ninkasi\,” the Sumerian goddess of beer\, was inscribed on a clay tablet. Among the translated lines: “Ninkasi\, it is you who hold with both hands the great sweetwort\, brewing it with honey and wine\,” and\, “Ninkasi\, you place the fermenting vat\, which makes a pleasant sound\, appropriately on top of a large collector vat.” \n55 B.C. The Romans introduce beer to Europe. \n500 A.D. Beer is brewed by monks and nuns in monasteries and convents during the Middle Ages. \n1000 The predecessor to your IPA arrives on the scene when hops make their first appearance in the brewing process. \n1420 German brewers develop lager. \n1490s Columbus discovers Native Americans brewing beer from corn. \n1612 The first commercial brewery in the New World opens in New Amsterdam\, aka Manhattan. \n1789 James Madison suggests that Congress tax malt liquors to encourage the brewing of beer “in every state of the union.” That same year\, George Washington launches the first version of a buy local campaign when he says he will only drink porter made in America. \n1810 Munich makes Oktoberfest an official celebration. \n1876 Adolphus Busch pioneers the icehouse concept and Budweiser becomes the first national brand of beer brewed and sold in the United States. \n1919 Crazy laws put breweries out of business\, as the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution – Prohibition – is passed. It outlaws the sale of alcoholic beverages with more than .5 percent alcohol. Many breweries\, including Pabst\, Schlitz\, Miller\, Stroh and Anheuser-Busch\, create “near beer” with names like Pablo\, Famo\, Vivo\, Lux-O and Bevo. \n1933 Prohibition ends\, hurrah. Thirty-one brewers are back in operation full force by June. \n1965 The grandfather of craft brewing\, Fritz Maytag\, buys Anchor Brewing\, which brewed unique and traditional beers during a time when many of them were dying out. \n1976 New Albion Brewery in Sonoma\, Calif.\, is founded by a homebrew enthusiast. Though the brewery didn’t last\, it did spur an interest in homebrewing\, which helped establish the interest in craft brews that we see today. \n1978 Homebrewing is made legal by the federal government\, though we can’t for a minute imagine a world in which it were illegal. \n1982 Bert Grant’s Yakima Brewing and Malting Co.\, considered the first brewpub to open in the nation since Prohibition\, opens in Yakima\, Wash. \n1983 Six main breweries – Anheuser-Busch\, Miller\, Heileman\, Stroh\, Coors and Pabst – control more than 90 percent of beer production in the United States. \n1990 Sierra Nevada Brewery from Chico\, Calif.\, becomes the first microbrewery to get its break into the big time when it bottles enough beer that it’s no longer considered micro at all. \n2019 Ninkasi Brewing discusses all this and more will SudsPop ticket holders enjoy a special Ninkasi beer\, appetizers and the musical stylings of Ben Fuller\, lead singer of the band China Davis. \nPEAKS AND PINTS SUDSPOP WITH NINKASI AND BEN FULLER\, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday\, May 15\, Peaks and Pints\, 3819 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, $14 advance at Peaks and Pints’ bar

SUMMARY:South Sound by Southwest Double IPA Release Parties
DESCRIPTION:South Sound by Southwest Double IPA Release Parties\nSouth Sound by Southwest mania is upon us\, and chances are your social-media channels are already being inundated with chatter about Southwest Washington breweries rocking Pierce County craft beer bars Friday\, May 10. “On behalf of the Pierce County craft beer scene (myself included)\, I’d like to apologize for just how obnoxious Friday\, May 10 will be during SSXSW\,” says Ben Chase\, manager at Rainier Growlers on South Hill\, Puyallup. “Extra apologies for any and all usage of the term ‘killing it\,’ gratuitous name-dropping (‘Oh\, hey\, [insert celebrity here]’)\, photos of long lines waiting for the official roving SSXSW Van\, and whining about how tired we are. That said\, our collaboration double IPA will rock\, and it deserves the extra attention.” \nIndeed. Chase\, Parkway Tavern manager Sean Jackson and Peaks and Pints co-owner Ron Swarner jumped in the touring van to Vancouver\, Washington and brewed a double IPA at Brothers Cascadia Brewing with Grains of Wraith Brewing and Trap Door Brewing on April 3\, 2019. Brewer Matt Fields of Brothers Cascadia grabbed the lead during the brewing day with Grains of Wrath Head Brewer Mike Hunsaker\, Trap Door Head Brewer Zane Singleton and Brothers Cascadia Head Brewer Jason Bos singing backup while making sure the Pierce County craft beer bar folks kept full glasses of their cellared craft beer. As metal filled the Vancouver brewery\, the group realized music was a common bond\, therefore South Sound by Southwest Double IPA\, a play off the famous Austin\, Texas music festival\, seemed a logically name. The after party was ridiculous. \nPlaying off the three-breweries/three-venues theme\, South Sound by Southwest IIPA rocks three hops — Amarillo\, Strata and El Dorado\, including a roadie bringing in a bunch of Amarillo Cryo hops. All aboard! This I…I…I…IPA will also be a hazy train thanks to flaked oats and wheat. Strata and El Dorado shred dueling lead guitars with tropical aromas and flavors fronting Amarillo plucking a ruby red grapefruit and orange bass. The flavors will jump on your palate like they’re taking stage at the Tacoma Dome. \nBeginning at 5 p.m. Friday\, May 10\, Rainier Growlers\, Parkway Tavern and Peaks and Pints will tap South Sound by Southwest IIPA\, as well as different beers from the three collaborating breweries. A van will circulate between the three craft beer bars from 6-10 p.m. Uber is also encouraged as a way to taste all the beers. \n“South Sound by Southwest isn’t a beer festival\, a music festival or a fashion festival — it’s a big bundle of everything rolled into one spring\, Pierce County night\,” adds Chase. “You’ll drink delicious beer that you’re unlikely to see in your own backyard\, find something thrilling\, meet some cool people\, listen to some rocking recorded music\, and perhaps even plan a day touring Southwest Washington breweries. SSXSW has an array of options available that are sure to knock your glasses off.” \nThe South Sound by Southwest folks suggest beginning at 5 p.m. inside Rainier Growlers\, but you may go your own way. \nSOUTH SOUND BY SOUTHWEST DOUBLE IPA RELEASE PARTIES\, 5-10 p.m. Friday\, May 10\, Rainier Growlers (13105 Meridian E.\, Puyallup)\, Parkway Tavern (313 N. I St.\, Tacoma)\, Peaks and Pints (3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma)\, no cover charge

SUMMARY:Beer For Clean Air Mountain Festival
DESCRIPTION:Beer For Clean Air Mountain Festival\nThink mountain climbing in Washington state and the mind naturally gravitates to Mount Rainier. No other mountain within the contiguous United States is as extensively glaciated or has as much prominence. Climb for Clean Air is an exclusive mountaineering training and fundraising program designed to give you the training\, technical support and guide services you need to summit magnificent mountains safely\, including Mt. Rainier. \nPeaks and Pints has converted its annual Mountain Beer Fest into the annual Beer For Clean Air Mountain Festival\, a fundraiser for American Lung Association’s Climb for Clean Air\, which will be held Saturday\, May 4 inside our craft beer bar\, bottle shop and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Bonus: Peaks and Pints co-owner Ron Swarner is participating in the Climb For Clean Air climb to the top of Mt. Rainier June 27. Please help him raise money for the American Lung Association and his journey up the mountain at beerforcleanir.com. Swarner has dealt with exercise-induced asthma since the mid-’90s. Climbing 14\,411 feet up to the summit seems daunting with impaired lungs\, but he finds comfort climbing with the American Lung Association. \nStay tuned for the mountain beers line-up! \nChances are you know someone who has faced the challenges of asthma\, COPD\, lung cancer or air pollution. By making a donation to beerforcleanair.com on Swarner’s behalf\, you will be helping the American Lung Association provide community based education programs\, fight for cleaner air standards and fund life-saving research. With your help\, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. \nCheers! \nBEERS FOR CLEAN AIR MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL\, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday\, May 4\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Pray For No Mosquitoes Party
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Pray For No Mosquitoes Party\nThere’s no doubt mosquitoes are an annoyance. There’s nothing like a swarm of pesky mosquitoes to ruin a fun evening on the deck or around a campfire. Peaks and Pints is convinced they swim in insect repellent\, drinking it like it was wine. \nPeaks and Pints will host a Pray For No Mosquitoes Party with Elysian Brewing and others at 6 p.m. Thursday\, April 25. In addition to an official mosquito exorcism\, expect mosquito door prizes. \nThe mosquito season in the Northwest starts around mid-April and lasts until early October. The National Weather Service says there is a 50 to 80 percent chance the region will be hotter than usual\, and the Northwest is expected to get more precipitation throughout the summer of 2019 than usual\, which means there will most likely be more mosquitoes throughout the region this year\, too. \nWe need to take action before mosquitoes darkened the sky of a summer’s evening\, strafing our villages and carrying off children and livestock. Together\, we need to pray for no mosquitoes … while drinking beer. \nWhen it comes to mosquito exorcisms\, beer helps. In addition to Elysian Salute The Sun Black Lime Hazy Pale\, Superfuzz Blood (sucking) Orange Pale\, Fuzzdusters\, expect Sunriver’s Vicious Mosquito IPA\, Avery Bug Zapper and other pest beers. \nLet’s take back the outdoors Thursday night. But remember\, as your dad always said\, just “close the damn door!” \nPEAKS AND PINTS PRAY FOR NO MOSQUITOES PARTY\, 6 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 25\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Pike Brewing 30th Anniversary Prefunk
DESCRIPTION:Pike Brewing 30th Anniversary Prefunk\nOct. 17\, 1989\, the Pike Place Brewery\, as it was then known\, officially opened in the old Liberty Malt Supply space under the Pike Place Market on Western Avenue in downtown Seattle. Owners Charles and Rose Ann Finkel had opened specialty beer importer Merchant Du Vin 11 years earlier\, bringing their favorite ales in England\, fruit beers in Belgium and pils\, dunkels and dopplebocks in Bavaria to the States. At the time there were only three other craft brewers in Washington state and IPAs were hard to find on tap or in bottle. A lot transpired at the brewery since\, including a name change to the Pike Brewing Company\, but Charles and Rose Ann still proudly own the brewery and the history of beer museum that doubles as their restaurant and taproom. Thursday\, April 18\, Peaks and Pints will cheers Pike Brewing’s 30th anniversary pouring the Seattle brewery’s latest beers and hosting past and present Pike brewers. \nOn that fateful day in October 1989\, The World’s Shortest Non-Motorized Uphill Parade marched toward Pike Place Brewery to officially open the brewery’s doors. Leading the parade was Liberty Malt Supply’s John Farias\, pushing a keg of Pike Pale Ale in a silver\, two-wheeled hand truck. Following were the Finkels\, Franz and Angela Inselkammer from Bavaria’s Ayinger Brewery\, and Pike Brewing’s first brewer\, Jason Parker. Parker will join current Piker brewer\, Art Dixon\, who began brewing at age 7\, and went on to be the head brewer at Pyramid Brewery. Parker is the co-founder and president of Copperworks Distilling. \nPlease join Peaks and Pints in saluting the third brewery to launch in Washington state\, Pike Brewing\, at 6 p.m. Thursday\, April 18. Proceeds from Pike Brewing sales will go toward nonprofit Washington Trails Association and its efforts to protecting trails\, mobilize hikers and build a statewide system worthy of our state’s majestic wild places. \nCheers! \nPIKE BREWING 30TH ANNIVERSARY PREFUNK\, 6-8 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 18\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:American Beauty Night at Peaks and Pints
DESCRIPTION:American Beauty Night at Peaks and Pints\nSaturday\, April 13 is Record Store Day\, an event created 12 years ago to salute independent record stores and generate interest in them with a slew of new vinyl releases made available that day. (Never mind the fact that for some\, every day is Record Store Day\, really.). Peaks and Pints celebrates the day\, actually two days earlier\, every year with Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales. Thursday\, April 11\, Dogfish Head returns to Peaks and Pints for a pre-Record Store Day celebration. Every year\, the Baltimore brewery creates the official beer of Record Store Day; this year they return to a classic — their American Beauty pale ale brewed with their longtime friends the Grateful Dead. Brewed to 6.5 percent ABV to commemorate the year the Grateful Dead was formed (1965)\, American Beauty is an all-American pale ale infused with granola and succulent wildflower honey. First concocted back in 2012\, American Beauty sits in Peaks and Pints’ cooler in 12-ounce bottles with red\, white and blue packaging featuring the band’s iconic dancing bears. April 11\, we’ll tap American Beauty\, as well as other Dogfish Head beers Sirecusa Nera imperial stout\, World Wide Stout\, Barrel-Aged Palo Santo\, last year’s Record Store Beer\, Dragons and Yum Yum Pale Ale\, and many other Dogfish beers. \nIt’s easy to get cynical about what Record Store Day has become. Nowadays there are huge lines and the limited-edition release you’ve been eyeing gets gobbled up and sold on eBay for a big profit. But let’s keep our eye on the ball here — you’re still feel the collective excitement and anxiety joining music dweebs in line talking about music and whatever limited thing they wanted that day\, you’re spending the day surrounded by great music and\, in doing so\, supporting an ever-important local institution. Here in Tacoma\, we’re lucky it’s “institutions” with an “s\,” thanks to the likes Hi-Voltage Records\, Rocket Records and House of Records. Similar\, Peaks and Pints feels the excitement every year when we tap a bunch of Dogfish Head crafty beers and giveaway a record player — this year an American Beauty-themed Crosley record player. The Delaware brewery is also turning up the volume with the creation of Sage & Spirit\, a limited edition 10-track vinyl album that will release on the actual Record Store Day. \nThursday\, April 11\, Peaks and Pints will be the spot for delicious Dogfish head beers\, jam band music\, a sweet-ass record player giveway and more. \nAMERICAN BEAUTY NIGHT AT PEAKS AND PINTS\, 6-8 p.m. Thursday\, April 11\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:An Afternoon With Dragon’s Head Cider
DESCRIPTION:An Afternoon With Dragon’s Head Cider\nCalling all cider lovers! Thursday\, April 11\, 4-6 p.m.\, Peaks and Pints we’ll be hosting An Afternoon With Dragon’s Head Cider. Named for the dragon that guards the apples of immortality in the Garden of Hesperides\, Dragon’s Head Cider was founded in 2010 on Vashon Island. Ignoring their last name\, owners Laura and Wes Cherry planted a beautiful orchard of apples and pears with production held on site. The Cherry’s don’t believe in cold storing their apples; they press during harvest season at its peak ripeness. Once pressed\, the fruit ferments in winter\, is blended in spring\, and ready to be bottled by early summer. \nType “Drink high-end craft cider at Peaks and Pints Thursday afternoon” on your calendar. \nOh\, and there will be coloring contest\, too. \nAN AFTERNOON WITH DRAGON’S HEAD CIDER\, 4-6 p.m. Thursday\, April 11\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Gives A Damn: Give Blood Get Beer
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Gives A Damn: Give Blood Get Beer\nYou need to give blood. It’s been too long — just about a year\, you think. You certainly have a pint to spare\, a pint whose red cells will be replenished at the rate of 2 million EVERY SECOND. \nThe Cascade Regional Blood Services hosts a blood drive program titled “Give Blood Get Beer” — a program where if you donate a pint of blood you will receive a pint of beer. Cascade Regional Blood Services blood drives enable local restaurants and pubs to support our community’s blood supply in a unique and fun way. Peaks and Pints craft beer bar\, bottle shop\, and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District\, will host A Give Blood Get Beer blood drive 1-4 p.m. Sunday\, April 7. \nBut getting back to the Peaks and Pints’ point\, you need to give\, not just because you’re in the mood or because Cascade Regional Blood Services will give you a pint of beer at Peaks and Pints craft beer bar. No\, you need to give because lives are on the balance awaiting your donation. Lest that sound like your blood is something special\, it’s no more special than Peaks and Pints or your sister’s or the blood of the guy sitting next to at Peaks and Pints. But it’s blood\, and it’s rich with possibility and with life. There’s no substitute for blood. If people lose blood from surgery or injury or if their bodies can’t produce enough\, there is only one place to turn — volunteer blood. \nNever given blood? Consider these tips. … \nDrink a lot of water beforehand\, and be sure to eat a healthy meal. Think iron-rich foods. \nTalk. Peaks and Pints turns into quite the chatterbox when we give blood\, probably because it takes our mind off liquid being siphoned from our veins. Bless the patient technicians\, whom you’ll ask about their families\, their jobs\, the weather. We suggest you just start naming off the possible craft beer you’re going to drink at Peaks and Pints with your beer voucher. \nHang in the Blood RV as long as you need. Load up on those snacks. If you feel light-headed\, tell someone. \nReady? There’s a sign-up sheet at Peaks and Pints\, or just show up Sunday afternoon\, April 7. \nPEAKS AND PINTS GIVES A DAMN: GIVE BLOOD GET BEER\, 1-4 p.m. Sunday\, April 7\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Bellingham Beer Week Prefunk
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Bellingham Beer Week Prefunk\nThere’s amazing craft beer being brewed within a few miles of Peaks and Pints craft beer bar\, right now. In many ways\, that’s the best consequence of the craft beer explosion. But despite this convenience\, every now and then it’s a good idea to step outside of our bubble. In the craft beer world\, there are some undeniable stronghold cities. Seattle. Portland. San Diego. Denver. Bellingham. \nIndeed we said Bellingham. \nWatching Bellingham\, Washington’s beer scene progress during the last few years has been amazing. To go from one brewery to 30 and counting in the last few years is nothing short of impressive. And now\, seeing brewers testing the boundaries of traditional palates\, breweries engaging the community in all sorts of events and activities\, farm to pint initiatives and bringing culinary pairings into the mix — these are all ways in which the Whatcom County breweries and craft brew scene continues to kick butt. \nBellingham Beer Week kicks off Friday\, April 19 for nine days of parties\, brewery events\, speakers\, craft beer releases\, and more\, ending Saturday\, April 7 with the famous April Brews Day Festival featuring more than 70 regional breweries. \nPeaks and Pints hosts a Bellingham Beer Week Prefunk at 6 p.m. Thursday\, April 4 with Aslan Brewing\, Boundary Bay Brewery\, Chuckanut Brewery\, Gruff Brewing\, Kulshan Brewing\, Menace Brewing\, North Fork Brewery\, Stones Throw Brewery\, Structures Brewing\, and Wander Brewing pouring their latest craft creations from our Western red cedar tap log. \nPEAKS AND PINTS BELLINGHAM BEER WEEK PREFUNK\, 6-9 p.m.\, Thursday\, April 4\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Gives A Damn: Rainier Beer For Tacoma Trees
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Gives A Damn: Rainier Beer For Tacoma Trees\nIf you know Robby and Justin Peterson\, you knew Rainier Beer would be a part of their Peaks and Pints craft beer bar\, bottle shop and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. Not only do they adore the taste\, they also house a Rainier Beer museum inside their other joint\, Peterson Bros. 1111. The beer born in 1893 at the Seattle Brewing and Malting Company\, Rainier sits in our cooler\, as well as permanently flows from our Western red cedar tap log. It’s a no-brainier that Rainier hugging\, tree hugging Peaks and Pints hosts Rainier Beer For Tacoma Trees Saturday\, March 30\, an opportunity for Tacomans to have a beer or two in the craft beer lodge and learn more about some of the organizations and programs dedicated to sustaining and increasing the number of trees in the City of Destiny. Forty cents for every Rainier beer sold during to Rainier Beer For Tacoma Trees will be donated to the Tacoma Tree Foundation. \nIn addition to Rainier\, the Tacoma Tree Foundation and City of Tacoma will advocate for more trees in Tacoma at Peaks and Pints March 30. Founded in 2018\, The Tacoma Tree Foundation empowers community members to plant and care for trees in Tacoma. A TTTF representative will be on hand to speak and answer questions about their newly-formed non-profit. The City of Tacoma will also be joining the event to talk about their urban tree canopy goals and programs\, particularly their free and discounted tree programs available for Tacoma residents interested in planting their own. \n“Caring for the Pacific Northwest’s environment is inherent in Rainier’s culture and true to our brand\,” says Kurt Stream\, a field-marketing representative for Rainier Beer. “And as a resident of Tacoma myself\, I’m excited to make the Tabs for Trees program hyper-local and put together an event that makes a positive environmental impact in the place I call home.” \nThrough the end of March\, Rainier Beer cans feature a special red Tabs for Trees tab. For every 24 tabs collected — the number of cans in a case of beer — and returned to Rainier\, one tree will be planted to help sustain the forests of the Pacific Northwest. Peaks and Pints and 30 or so other restaurants\, taverns and bars in Tacoma are participating by collecting the tabs. Since 2014\, Rainier has planted more than 100\,000 trees across the Pacific Northwest as part of Tabs for Trees. This year\, Rainier’s goal is to plant an additional 20\,000 trees — 5\,000 each across Washington\, Oregon\, Idaho and Montana. \nStop by Peaks and Pints from 4-6 p.m.\, help Tacoma plant more trees and enjoy a Rainier with Robby and Justin Peterson. \nPEAKS AND PINTS GIVES A DAMN: RAINIER BEER FOR TACOMA TREES\, 4-6 p.m. Saturday\, March 30\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, #TabsForTrees

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Orval Day Taste Off
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Orval Day Taste Off\nPlease visit Peaks and Pints Saturday\, March 23 as we join the top beer bars from across the globe in celebrating Orval Day 2019 — created by Seattle specialty beer importer Merchant du Vin in honor of the famed 1000-plus-year-old Orval Trappist Ale. \nOne of the most important beers to ever come out of Belgium\, Orval is an amber-hued saison that is dry-hopped\, then finished with Brettanomyces. Intensely aromatic and dry\, this one-of-a-kind beer is as complex as it is unique. One of only 12 officially recognized Trappist breweries across the world; all Orval beer is brewed within the walls of Notre Dame d’Orval Monastery. The alluring complexity of this iconoclastic beer has made it a world classic\, one that has inspired a generation of brewers across the globe to craft bone-dry beers of mixed-fermentation. \nBy participating in this event\, you are also contributing to a great cause. On this day\, Orval will donate proceeds from each bottle sold to the Safe Water Network\, which provides clean\, sustainable water to Ghana and India. \nThere is no admission fee for this event. Peaks and Pints will specially price tulip glasses full of Orval 2017 and 2018 for you to compare and contrast. Bottles of Orval 2018 will also available for purchase. \nPEAKS AND PINTS ORVAL DAY TASTE OFF\, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday\, March 23\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints Gives A Damn: Tree Hugging with Patagonia Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints Gives A Damn: Tree Hugging with Patagonia Brewing\nIf you love cool shade\, oxygen\, and beautiful tree lined streets\, then head to Peaks and Pints at 5 p.m. Friday\, March 22\, grab a pint of Patagonia Brewing Bohemian Pilsner and pick up a six-pack of the pilsner to go. Mother Earth would appreciate it. \nPatagonia Brewing Co.\, originally from the Patagonia region in South America\, believes life is best lived as an adventure. In an effort to reduce their global carbon footprint and to guarantee freshness\, the brewery is brewing their Bohemian Pilsner in Fort Collins through their “Buy a Case\, Plant a Tree” program. Partnering with the National Forest Foundation\, they will donate one tree to be planted for each case sold; 17 trees for every keg. Cerveza Patagonia has committed to supporting National Forests by planting at least 200\,000 trees by 2020. \nAs we learned in third grade biology\, trees are essential to life. They create the very air we breathe and filter air pollution. What you may not know is that trees also build soil and help soak up stormwater before it can create a flood\, and they offer energy-saving shade that reduces global warming and creates habitat for thousands of different species. Trees also help to reduce ozone levels in urban areas. Most importantly\, trees sequester carbon\, helping to remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air\, which cools   earth. In fact\, a mature canopy tree absorbs enough carbon and releases enough oxygen to sustain two human beings! \nPatagonia Bohemian Pilsner has a rich golden color\, a slightly sweet taste\, and a refreshing and crisp finish. The soft carbonation makes it an easy to drink beer. Peaks and Pints likes to pair it with our Sherpa sandwich — turkey\, goat cheese\, arugula\, red onion\, tomato and spicy mayonnaise on French bread. Pilsner might be the most versatile food beer\, with hops being able to cut through the spicy mayo and enough bubbles to cleanse the palate after the goat cheese. When in doubt\, grab a pilsner. \nPEAKS AND PINTS GIVES A DAMN: TREE HUGGING WITH PATAGONIA BREWING\, 5 p.m.\, Friday\, March 22\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, no cover

SUMMARY:Coaster House Construction with 20 Corners Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Coaster House Construction with 20 Corners Brewing\nThe first 20 corners are the toughest. Ask any coaster house builder and they’ll agree — building a coaster house becomes easier after those first 20 corners are in place. Peaks and Pints isn’t sure if 20 Corners Brewing ran into the same issue and\, therefore\, stopped once they reached 20 corners on their beautiful brewery in Woodinville\, but we do know delicious beer emerges from their 20-cornered structure. \nPeaks and Pints will host 20 Corners Brewing and a beer coaster house building contest at 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 21 in our craft beer bar\, bottle shop and restaurant in Tacoma’s Proctor District. \nThere are several ways to build a house of coasters. The “classic” method that you may have seen in popular media is based on a series of triangular trusses that peak to a point in a card pyramid. Many professional card-stackers\, however\, start their structures with a four-card cell or “lock box\,” which forms a much more stable foundation for complex designs. \nPeaks and Pints isn’t sure if Andrew Davis and Vern Olson formulated their 20 Corners Brewing business while sitting around a campsite table building a coaster house in 2013\, but the duo incorporated their love for the outdoors into their building motif and craft beers\, as demonstrated by the names of their beers we’re pouring: hazy Elk Haze IPA\, hazy Ghost Trees IPA\, Ground Rush IPA brewed with Simcoe and Mosaic\, and Calypso Peach Sour. \n“From fishing\, skiing\, biking\, you name it\, our love for the outdoors and creating a brewing process that positively impacts the outdoors is why we do this\,” states the 20 Corners Brewing’s website. \nPeaks and Pints likes how that stacks. \nJoin 20 Corners Brewing Thursday\, March 21 at Peaks and Pints and build a house of coasters with all the corners. \nCOASTER HOUSE CONSTRUCTION WITH 20 CORNERS BREWING\, 6 p.m. Thursday\, March 21\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Peaks and Pints SudsPop: Hellbent with Jeff Hamel
DESCRIPTION:Peaks and Pints SudsPop: Hellbent with Jeff Hamel\nThe goal of most breweries is to bring imaginative and delicious flavors to beer\, but also to ensure that customers’ expectations are met or exceeded\, whether they are cellaring their beer or drinking it fresh at Peaks and Pints. Some brewers like using exciting ingredients during fermentation and performing exciting processes such as barrel aging his or her beer\, others also enjoy adding a level of complexity and microbial risk to his or her finished beer. If they don’t control the microorganisms coming out of the brewery and going into bottles\, consumers may receive poor\, inconsistent and even unintentionally sour beer in the bottle. \nHellbent Brewing Co. owner and head brewer Brian Young will discuss the ins and outs of post fermentation in the brewing process at Peaks and Pints’ next SudsPop beer lecture and private concert night at 7 p.m. Wednesday\, March 20. Each SudsPop event features a brewer\, an exclusive one-off beer brewed by the special guest brewer and a chosen artist or band in our East Wing events room. Joining Young will be Jeff Hamel\, the lead singer/guitarist from SweetKiss Momma\, a rock and roll band with a Southern soul straight outta Puyallup\, Washington. \nMay 30\, 2015\, Hellbent Brewing opened in Seattle’s Lake City neighborhood. Peaks and Pints’ love affair with Hellbent began that day as we soaked in sunrays and IBUs while sunk in a couch in the brewery’s back parking lot. Good times. It wasn’t until a sample bottle of Dang! Citra IPA made it to our 2016 Thanksgiving dinner that we pledged our undying love. \nSweetKiss Momma takes Peaks and Pints back to joyous\, carefree times hanging out with friends. Or\, our love with the Puyallup band could be the fact SweetKiss Momma is a truly awesome band. Often sliding into country\, sometimes stretching into blues\, usually jamming live\, turning some songs into opuses\, the band touches on all the conventions of the Southern rock genre without turning them into clichés. Vocalist and SKM head honcho Jeff Hamel possessing a particularly authentic gravelly North Western Pacific set of pipes that fits perfectly whether the band is on a blues or rock roll. \nPlease join us 7-9 p.m. Wednesday\, March 20 in the Peaks and Pints East Wing for an incredible night of beer and song. \nTickets are $14 plus tax\, which includes the special event beer\, nibbles from Peaks and Pints kitchen and\, of course\, all the beer education and music. There’s a limit of 20 people. Tickets are available at Peaks and Pints. \nPEAKS AND PINTS SUDSPOP: HELLBENT WITH JEFF HAMEL\, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday\, March 20\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, $14 presold

SUMMARY:21st Amendment and No-Li Brewhouse 80’s Rock Lip Sync Battle
DESCRIPTION:21st Amendment and No-Li Brewhouse 80’s Rock Lip Sync Battle\nBack in the 1980s\, before karaoke really took off\, pretending to be a rock star\, as folks did on Puttin’ on the Hits (or #POTH\, as it would no doubt be called today) was briefly kind of a thing. It’s not clear whether the success of POTH fueled the rise of “air bands\,” or vice versa. But much as auditions for The Voice or Idol today draw thousands of wannabe Kelly Clarksons to open auditions\, POTH held tryouts at malls and rec centers around the country. \nErik Youngren and Mike Lay religiously watched Puttin’ on the Hits\, often watching it while chatting with each other on their landline phones. \n“It is way easier when you don’t have to actually sing. Especially\, if you can’t sing. Lip sync is way better. I understand why all the stars do it\,” said Mike Lay. His group of three dressed like zombies and synced to the classic “Monster Mash” back in the mid-‘80s. \nThe sales executives for 21st Amendment Brewery and No-Li Brewhouse\, respectively\, will bring their passion to Peaks and Pints Thursday\, March 14 when they host “80’s Rock Lip Sync Battle” from 6-9 p.m. In addition to tapping their craft beers\, the two will perform their favorite lip sync routines in between sets of Peaks and Pints guests performing his or her favorites for major awards. \n21st AMENDMENT AND NO-LI BREWHOUSE ’80S ROCK LIP SYNC BATTLE\, 6-9 p.m. Thursday\, March 14\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover

SUMMARY:Tacoma pFriem Can Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Tacoma pFriem Can Release Party\nNo one talked about recycling or reducing his or her carbon footprint back when you started covering your house with beer cans in the 1960s. You’ve worked slow and steady at covering your entire house with beer cans. The roof\, windowsills\, gutters\, even your mailbox and fence are covered in beer cans. And\, every Jan. 24 on National Beer Can Appreciation Day — the very day that canned beer first hit the American market in 1935 — you host a blowout beer can drinking party. The annual topic of conversation in your can cave? When is pFriem Family Brewers going to can? \nWell\, rip down that Krueger’s Cream Ale can door bell cover because pFriem Family Brewers has canned their IPA and Pilsner. And\, Peaks and Pints will host the Tacoma pFriem Can Release Party at 5 p.m. Friday\, March 1. pFriem Senior Brewer Bryan Cardwell and pFriem Sales Executive Blake Jackson will be in our craft beer lodge popping cans and discussing how your many outdoor adventures\, backyard barbecues\, or front yard light post calls for a can of pFriem. \nThe brewery has upgraded its facility and enhanced its infrastructure to make way for canning. The team expects annual barrel-age for cans to be around 5\,000 barrels in 2019. To meet that production level as well as to continue to grow its draft and 500 ml bottle production\, the brewery will be expanding its Hood River facility in 2019. \nIn addition to all the cans\, Peaks and Pints will pour pFriem craft beer from our Western red cedar tap log because we CAN. \nHope you CAN join us. \nTACOMA PFRIEM CAN RELEASE PARTY\, 5-8 p.m.\, Friday\, March 1\, Peaks and Pints\, 3816 N. 26th St.\, Basecamp Proctor\, Tacoma\, no cover
