For any craft beer enthusiast living in the South Sound, the last 12 months has been a stellar with major craft beer industry announcements such as the McMenamins green light at the Tacoma Elks building to 7 Seas Brewing opening a second location in Tacoma to new breweries like Matchless Brewing, Gig Harbor Brewing, Sluggo Brewing, Dunagan, North 47, Wet Coast and on and on. The Broadway Center for the Performing Arts continues to add delicious fuel to the fire with its annual Brew Five Three: Tacoma’s Beer & Blues Festival next to the Pantages Theater in downtown Tacoma, this year scheduled to consume Broadway street from 1-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. The one-day craft beer and music event features 30-plus regional breweries, blues and bluegrass bands and popular area food trucks.
